    Yes when disco, pop, soul, r&b, funk, country and rock all played on WLS even thogh it was the Rock of Chicago. Bob Sirott was a perfect fit on the station.

    I usually listened to wls on the school bus radio; the driver had it on the "rock of chicago" for all the kids! I may not have ever actually heard this broadcast as being June I woulda been home and outa school for the summer... and my mom didn't like WLS so we only listened to WGN in our house when I was growing up!

    omg I remember those "sun in" commercials! Years later in 1994 I met a guy who lived in Fair Oaks, CA-NOWHERE NEAR the pacific ocean; he wanted to look like a blonde surfer dude (he had dark hair BTW) & he said it dried his hair out so much and it looked and felt like hay! I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time but his description of it made me chuckle! I got carried away with that sunless tan lotion and being white as a ghost I looked like I'd bathed in orange paint!

      He needed "Ban du Soleil, for the San Tropez tan."

    Very nostalgic, but reminds me of the endless COMMERCIALS on WLS.

    June 1975, I was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps on Okinawa. April-May 1975, the Marine Corps lost over 20 Marines killed in action, during 2 Operations. April 1975, 2 Embassy Marines were killed during the Evacuation of Saigon at Tan Son Nhut AFB outside of Saigon. May 1975, over 20 Marines were killed during the Mayaguez Incident Recovery Operation on Koh Tang Island Cambodia. They were so young, over 45 years ago. Those lost would be Grandfathers

    Why didn't Bob announce the area code when he gave the station number?

    • @SmithFamilyUTuber
      @SmithFamilyUTuber 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Back then ALL of Chicagoland had only one area code and it wasn't necessary to dial it when calling from within the same area code. Of course, many listeners were listening from outside Chicago, but those knew to dial 1+312 first. It wasn't until late 1989 an additional area code was added to the Chicago suburbs and 312 was solely reserved for downtown Chicago.
