We wanted thank you, your "producer", and guest stars for all the great videos and information that we've been watching for the last 6 months while planning. We've been in Budapest the last 4 days and are sadly heading home at the crack of dawn tomorrow. We've been to the Christmas markets, the ruin bars, eaten tons of great food, seen innumerable amazing buildings, and have fallen in love with the city. Thank you again for helping us have such a wonderful time!
Thank you so much for the kind message 😊 really glad to hear you enjoyed your time in Budapest, and that our content could help with your trip 😊 these kind of comments help us stay motivated in what we do 😊
2500huf for a chimney cake! 6000huf for a blood sausage, 4-5 times expensiver than what you could buy from supermarket. so always window shopping for me in any Christmas market.😊 but I still love Budapest, amazing city!
Akos, I love your videos so much! My husband and I find so much joy in watching. We moved here about 3 months ago from The US, and your videos have been so helpful to learn where the locals go (and some tourist stuff too). Thank you again and thank you for showing the markets in Obuda and Ujpest! The popular ones are just too expensive on our Hungarian salary and too crowded. Can't wait for future videos :)
very nice video! We were in Budapest in the summer and visited some of the points in your videos! We love watching your videos! keep it up ! Many greetings from Switzerland! :) 🇨🇭😊
We went to the Christmas market that was a straight line from the Grand Market, maybe a 10 minutes walk down a pedestrian walkway. Didn't get food as we got food on our cruise ship, but did buy some souvenirs. Loved the experience and watching your videos ahead of time was a huge help! TYVM!!
Thank you so much for your videos! I like your style a lot - you don’t use too many words and give all the cool useful information! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!
Szia Akos, Thanks for all you research about informing us about the various Christmas markets in Budapest. We did two of them on our visit in 2012. Usually the other TH-cam videos we have seen about the markets just show the same two that we have seen, but not about prices, which is very important. We can’t wait to go back to Budapest and visit some of the Christmas markets. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Stay Fluffy!
@@StuffedCabbageAdventures We hope so too. Looking forward to it. This is why we love watching your channel because it keeps us connected with Hungary. Stay Fluffy!
Thank you so much for yet another great video! The only one I'm missing this year is the Újpest market. So far my favorite is the one in Óbuda. Outside Budapest, I recommend the one in Szentendre.
Szentendre has the Christmas shop that's open all year, so no wonder it's a nice town during the festive season as well 😊 the Óbuda market also has gained a soft spot in my heart 😊
Pork is the most common (mangalica type especially which is a local kind of pork). I believe the stall where we bought the Salami had beef sausage, but stalls with hot food will most likely serve Pork Sausage.
hi and thank you for this video- I find them very informative. I plan on visiting Budapest on December 26th & 27th this year- will the Christmas markets be opened on these 2 days?
Hey there! Glad to hear you enjoy our videos! 😊 The two main Christmas markets will be open till beginning of the new year, so you can still catch those 😊
Hiii there!! Me and some friends are going To visit Budapest in two Weeks from now. I have seen all your videos about the vitu and I am loving it 😊 we know that it will Be cold , do you have some sugestion for is this time of the year? So we get warm and cosy, some special place to visit?
Hey there! Glad to hear you enjoy the content we do :) While it may be cold, if you dress up well, layered etc, you should still have a lovely time in the city as you explore it :) However if you wish to warm yourselves up, a thermal bath like Gellert, Szechenyi or Rudas may be ideal. Or the House of Music interactive exhibition is also a fun indoor activity. When it comes to cozyness, I personally enjoy visiting the many Specialty Coffee shops scattered around the city, like Budapest Baristas, Fekete Kávézó, Kelet Kávézó, or Madal Cafe next to the Parliament :)
@@StuffedCabbageAdventures thank you for the sugestions!!! I elas thinking about the house of music and now I am definitely visiting it 😁 also we are big fans of coffee, we saw your vídeos about de caffes too 😅 I have To thank you one more time, your videos surely is helping us 🫶🏽

Hello Akos I was born in Hungary grow up in Buda ,left Hungary 1991 I don't remember any Christmas market in my childhood I live in the USA for 33 years ,this Christmas we are going back. We will check out this Markets !! Thank you for the videos!!!! Very entertaining .My whole Family /4/ subscribed to this channel> I love coffee too!! Can you please tell us when the Christmas Market open in December?? Thank you
Hey there! Thank you so much for the support! 😊 The big markets like at the Basilica or on Vörösmarty square are opening middle of November, and usually theother markets open around 6th of December 😊 So you'll definately be able to check them out! 🎄
Hey there! The main markets at Basilica and Vörösmarty square are card only, and in general at the other markets you can basically pay card anywhere, perhaps there may be a few very small stalls that only accept cash, but when we made the video we didn't pay with cash at all if I remember correctly. 😊
Hello, thanks for this nice video. I am planning to visit Budapest for new year eve, I liked most the one Obuda from your video, but I think the outer 2 market already closed. I hope I will find some attraction for new year eve, I am always restless being tourist in this specials days, lets see :)
Hey there! Yeah only the Big 2 markets in the center are still open, rest have closed. I also enjoyed Óbuda more, it definately resonated more with me :) During New years eve a lot of people roam the streets, going from bar to bar and having fun, so the city center will surely be lively :)
Thanks for this video. I’m going next week! Can you advise if any thing open for travellers on Dec 24 in budapest? I understand most of the places will be closed?
Hey there! I don't really remember the exact dates but the visit to the Basilica and Vörösmarty square happened around the end of November and to Óbuda and Újpest at the beginning of December around the time they opened. Basilica and Vörösmarty markets usually open middle /end of November depending on whens the first advent 😊
Hey there! Most Markets end after Christmas days but the big ones at the Basilica and the Vörösmarty square operate till the first few days of the new year 😊
At the major markets (at Vörösmarty and Basilica) almost all stalls are Card only. On smaller markets there are few places that accept cash as well. But we paid with card everywhere.
Tnx! There are awful comments (Tripadvisor) about bad exchage rates, added some taxes etc. if paying with card at Budapest markets so I will be more happy if I could just use cash :/
Hey there! Yes, it's 1600 HUF this year, yesterday we got a small Sausage with bread and Mustard at one of the stalls, it was very nice, and at another stall they sold Lecsó with a slice of meat. But just like last year this is not advertised visibly, so you'll have to ask what the daily discount dish is 😊
Hi! We are coming at Dec 30-Jan 1 Will the markets be the same? Or will it only have the “left over” markets where most of the shops of the market closed? And will Budapest still have its Christmas spirit and lights?

According to the website of the Basilica Market, it is open on New years eve and also on the 1st of January as well, but some shops may decide to close off for those days so the staff can spend time with family and friends.
Hey there, The one on Vörösmarty square is open till night of 31st, the one at Basilica is open till January 1st. The ones on Óbuda and Újpest will close after Christmas. So you can still catch the two big ones when you arrive.
Hey there! Almost all stalls on the big 2 markets are cashless and card only. On smaller markets cash may be accepted. We only used card wherever we went and never had issues with that 😊
Hey there! Yes it's good time to visit. Just note that November is usually a colder month with some rain here and there, but generally its good for visiting 😊
