- Hi Guys,
Come along with us on this lazy summer like February day, here on Pico Island Azores. Today we take a road trip to the east side of the island, with a few stops along the way.
We visited a small market in the village of Piedade, met some nice expats & immigrants that are making a difference in the local island communities. We also bought some things, like hand made soap, gifts and sweets.
On the way back we stopped in the village of Lajes, here we mostly , relaxed, had a few drinks, met some more expats and simply enjoyed the scenery of the day.
We hope you enjoyed hanging out with us,
Love having you with us on our journey.
Carlos & Laura
xoxo

"Retirement planning is very important in our world, funny how in some parts of the world, you need over a million dollars to retire comfortably?"
"Wow, that's a huge sum. I've been retired for three years now, and I'm only 46, thankfully i met a friend Katherine c boone, she offers excellent investment plans.
How is that even possible, because the approved retirement age is 65 here in the US
I have Katherine C Boone managing my portfolio. Her trading calls have been incredibly profitable."
Katherine C Boone? I've heard of her. I just did a little research and found her. I'm planning to schedule a call with her soon." 0:31
also I started working with her last year , and my portfolio has seen a noticeable increase. Her expertise is remarkable."
This is definitely my favorite way to shop. Local artisans selling homemade foods and crafts.
Shopping at these types of small markets gets you close to the people and the island. Take care!
What a fun day that was spending it with you both! Good times. 😊 Looking forward to more of that nice weather in the days ahead!
More fun days on the way, I'm sure! Thanks for the invite, Wayne! Cheers!
OMG you were in my neck of the woods. I was born and raised in Piedade. The salão was named after a local priest Padre Francisco Vieira Soares. The gentleman Mannie Goulart has an excellent construction company there is Piedade. The lady with the bolo levedo is my cousin. Loved this one. Thank you
What a small world! Glad you enjoyed it. Take good care, Lucilia!
Hi there! Amazing to hear myself mentioned on your video, and see our daughter, Jess! Thanks so much! I love watching all your adventures on Pico because it reminds me of places we’ve been when visiting. I’ve often said that perhaps one day we’ll see Jess and we did. We’ll look out for you on our next visit.
It's so nice to hear from you, and how much you enjoy watching our videos. I have a feeling Jess might make it into a few other videos. Thank you so much for taking the time, and we hope to see you on Pico someday! Take good care! Cheers!
Ooohhh thank you so much for mentioning our association, Pico Animal Sanctuary, so many times! And of course for mentioning my mum!!!!! So sweet 💗🐈😘
We need to help our four-legged friends. Say hello to your mom! Take care! Saude!
Looking forward to spending time in Terceria and Pico later this year or next year. My family from both sides migrated to the US from the Azores in the early 1920's. I would like to find any relatives which I'm sure I have still there. Thank you for your wonderful and informative videos.
You will have a wonderful time on both of the islands. I'm sure you still have family here, most do! Take care!
Thx for the video and info for my visit to Pico
Thank you for watching; I'm glad it was helpful. Cheers
Love it! Thank you for taking us along 💕
Virlane
Glad you came along, Virlane. Cheers!
Thank you for sharing Carlos. The one table you visited was my cousin Fatima Pimentel. So amazing to see her on here.
OMG! What a small world, glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!

Hi Carlos and Laura, I've been following your channel from the beginning. Love to watch. Thank you for sharing the gluten-free market on Pico. I'm allergic to gluten and will be visiting Pico this summer. My parents' homeland.
Thank you so much for the support, glad you're enjoying the channel. I also thought this gluten free products were a great find. Take care!
Lindo vídeo gostei muito 👍👍
Obrigado! Muita saude para voce!
This is just what I was looking for! I have to come over to Pico soon!
We are coming to Pico next Saturday for a week which will be shared with Faial and it is good to see some of the things that go on to keep us occupied. Thanks for showing us how beautiful Pico is
That sounds great, you will enjoy it. I'm glad you are enjoying our videos. Cheers

Thank you, glad you liked it. The waffle was very tasty! Cheers!
EVER GET TRAVElING THE OTHER ISLANDS ? OR ARE YOU HAPPY STAYING IN PICO ? I THINKING aBOUT BUY A HOUSE CONDO ON Sao MICHAEL island,
We have travelled to some of the other islands, but not in the last couple of years. We have been way to busy here, will visit some of them soon. Cheers!
I just arrived in Sao Miguel, where I have an Airbnb for a month, until March 20. I want to check out Pico and I was wondering if the ferries are running now, or if you have to fly. I’m feeling kind of isolated here because I’m an hour away from Ponta Delgada. I’m really hesitant to drive here because the mountains and narrow roads scare me a lot.
Hi Tracey! There are no ferries. the only way is to fly. There should be local bus transportation, it could be a way to get around. Cheers
Hi Tracey, i'll be there in April and had the same thoughts, but i will be in Pico and would love to rent a car, but driving on these mountainous and narrow roads scare me as well. But fortunately, i can walk to many places as i am staying in Madelena, and its close to the Marina and the ferry to Faial is running. Have a great stay. Can't wait to get there.
@@suefromtorontoon5517 I’ll have to take a ferry over to Pico, when they start running again. Thanks.
Carlos and Laura let me know when you guys have your tours of pico or your classes for buying house there thanks
I'm not sure when we will do another on location. Azores Portugal Workshop, we do have a digital version of the last one. We are able to organize packages, tours, and activities. Send me an email if you need more info. Cheers
There's no government department for "expats" in Canada or in Portugal. But there is immigration. You may want to reword the racist term "expat".
We use the word Expat because it's what most people use, including expat themselves. It has nothing to do with racism, not a bone in my body with that nonsense. Which word would be best to use, in your opinion?
What has the word "expat" to do with racism? LOL
@@ourjourneyonpicoisland-car552 how about the word "immigrant"? Racist people believe they are better than others to have the word "immigrant" apply to them...and sorry to say it, Charlie, but you're enabling the racists
