I saw your truck at LKQ July 3rd and seen the TH-cam sticker and checked your channel out and was amazed at your work. It's good to see a fellow local TH-camr...I'll be tuned in to your channel....SprayWayCustoms
Awesome Brotha! Yea man, it was a good weekend out there. That was some hot sweaty work! lol I was out there the 2nd and 3rd. Nice to meet you man. I'll check out your channel. Maybe we'll run into each other at a local meet. You going to Point Mallard Car Show this weekend?
Have you done a swap into a 4x4 truck? and another question... on a 5.3 if you were going manual which trans would you go for? thanks! your vids have a ton of good info!
awesome video. i have the same program i use on road test for my job at uhaul. hope the move progress is going well thank you for your videos and happy memorial day and thank you for your service
+AGearHead4Life do you have any sources for stand alone harness for the ls motors. i am getting ready to install a L20 4.8l with a 6l80e trans in to a 69 2dr cutlass. cheapest source i found was 800 bucks. any info would be greatly appreciated
Yea, I like to watch how it's reacting to my driving and letting me know if my experiements with the E-fans are helping, etc. You know, trying to make something work as well as it could. That gearhead itch. Thanks brotha!
lol i have been using this app in my chevelle lsx swap for a while now good to know im not the only one planning on getting a china made tablet just for my gauges in the future
First of all I would like to thank you for the feed back you have place in here. It is crazy free information that most local mechanics would charge money. The minute I saw this video I order the piece to monitor my gauges. LOLOLOL. Is crazy. Second of all who ever stole your truck deserves to meet every car guy here in person. He or she is more than welcome. Outside of that I have a simple question. My 2008 5.3 VORTEC starts very sluggish. Meaning it will not set RPM until it reaches about 5 mins. Once its warm and normal temp it is a rap. What do you think that could be. Tunning??? Air to gas volume parameters within the tuning? I bought the harness and PCM from PSI Conversions here in NJ.
Thanks Chui! Glad you're digging it man. As for your truck, there are a lot of things that it could be. I'd start by check the spark plugs and testing the fuel pressure.
Ive been using this app for yrs, I also recommend the add-on called track recorder. It will allow you to record videos and overlay the gauges in your videos. You can setup alerts per gauge for warning alerts etc. great app.
Thanks! I need to get that recorder and probably use that instead of the one that I used in this video. I have nowhere near reached using even 1/3rd of what this app can do.
Once you choose your gauges and place them where you need them.Press and hold on a gauge and then press display configuration. Here you can set the min/max parameters of the gauge dial itself so that your gauge doesnt have a useless range you will never reach. You can set a low and high warning.Things like engine temp i use..battery low voltage, intake air temp too high..since Im boosted etc.For a very cheap app that datalogs, gps tracker..I will say the 1/4 mile timer and 0-60 stuff isnt accurate to base actual figures on.I used it at the drag strip and its wasnt even close to my real times.
I love the torque pro app thanks for turning me onto it Mark! Still rocking the old 5 dollar obd2 blue tooth adapter but as soon as it craps out I'll get the better one

Have you seen the scan gauge II? Sell them at advanced auto for like 140$. It can read like up to 16 things, shows 4 at one time that you can change on the fly. Plug mine into my OBDII and tuck it up so it sits right behind the steering wheel in front of my cluster. Can also calculate MPG from fill ups and read/clear CEL
Your OBD-II Bluetooth connector is show ambient air temperature should match actual air temp. A NTC thermistor drops resistance as temps get hotter. It is in a MAF sensor or somewhere in front of the throttle body. A incorrect reading tells the computer that coolant is cooled off but external air is hot. This affects code test if not within 10 degrees F of each other. This is a warm-up cycle. Key cycles, warm-up cycles and highway speeds based on clock will run EGR test, EVAP test and automatic slippage or the P1870. Clean connectors, add dielectric grease and test with an actual scan-tool. If bad replace. This affects shift points on automatics as well. There are hundreds of test run by the ECM after starting, these inputs come into the OBD-II connector thru pin #2 which is class 2 serial data. Terminals 6 & 14 are high speed local area network sometimes called GM LAN that came in 2004 on the Corvette. The rest followed later. ASE Master Tech- Retired
I don’t remember paying for it.... I typically don’t pay for apps... I think I would remember. But I could be wrong. And apparently I’ve had the app for more than 4 years so that could change. Oh and by the way.... my comment is 4 years old... I still use the same app and dongle.
Brandon Simons , it looks similar but mine is different... I will add this tho.... I don’t use mine for guages. For diag is only thing I use mine for. And for some reason.... now my iPhone will kick me off the WiFi the dongle puts out after a few minutes because of it not having internet connection. I remember changing some setting to make it use Cellular for data even tho it’s connected to the dongle thru WiFi. Not sure if it’s just a setting issue or an iOS update issue or what. But the guage function worked great for extend use back then but now I get kicked off the WiFi after 5-10 mins. So just keep that in mind. The dongle is an ELM WiFi OBD dongle from Amazon.... like $20. A Bluetooth one may work fine now tho... one I tried back then.... the Bluetooth one would only work for gm and not Ford or right the opposite... can’t remember. But I need to try a Bluetooth one again.. that should fix my connection issues.
+Elguero 1500 I'm not sure. I've never tried it since I've usually install the engine into a vehicle that has a fuel system from an older non-OBDII model.
Hey man, do you need internet to get your speedo working on that or to run the app? Thinking about mounting a tablet as a dash display and don’t want to pay monthly for it.
I see the video is from 2 years ago but have you had any issues yet with using that setup? Basically finishing up my LS swap now and I'm to the point of gauges so I'm curious. Also how well does the magnetic cell phone holder work how sturdy is it? Love the videos Man
Hey Anthony! No sir! Not besides sliding the trans crossmember back to fit the trans different mounting point. Changed out the yoke for a th400 style. I did cut an ear off of the passenger side of the bell housing, that wasn't being used, to make room for my long tube headers though. That was about it.
Watched a lot of your vids and they answered a lot of my questions so many thanks for that. I'm getting ready to do an LS swap in my 03 range rover hse, possibly the most difficult swap ever... any tips on something like this?
Hi, agh4l. I'm working in 91 camaro v6. Swap 5.3 from silverado. If I want rpm gauge and speedometer working, do I just connect green wire from vss signal to speed input on the cluster and tach signal from pcm to input rpm on the cluster?
It does do MPG, not sure about instant but likely. I've only tested the MPG once, but it seemed pretty dang close. Its dependent on the vehicle profile info that you put in.
I just got my dongle from your link on this video. Will it work if I power up the harness if the engine is not running? I bought my engine used and have not seen it run yet, and I'd like to check to see if there are any error codes stored on the computer.
I'd recommend a reputable local tuner to get the most that you can out of your build. It'll cost more than a mail order, but that is how you'll get all that you can. If you mean the person that I've used for mail order tunes in the past is "CoolMike222" on ebay. Also, his name is Mike Rowe on Facebook.
Hey Mark what kind of tool box do you have? Im going to go to school soon and I need one so I was just wondering what brand it is so I could maybe look into buying one. Thanks in advance and keep up the great work on the videos! BTW my favorite is the Chevy truck, I have a 78 my father and I are rebuilding! Gearhead4Life
Thank you Chris! This may sound weird, but I recommend starting with the Harbor Freight cart. It's not an actual tool box, but the service cart that you push up to the vehicle to work on. I use it now way more than anything else and it's only $100 with a coupon. My actual tool box is a small Craftsman one that I'm finally outgrowing. I got in on a scholarship when I went to automotive school. Craftsman's are good, but wait for the sales. I've heard great reviews on the Harbor Freight tool boxes too and they're supper cheap. Probably a good place to start. You dont want to go crazy in debt right off the batt. Start with a less expensive box. The big name ones will want $5k for a box. Don't do that, IMO. Not yet. Maybe one day, if its become your carrier and you decide its worth it. You may also be able to find killer deals from tech retiring or getting out of mechanics. My buddy bought a large Matco bottom box for $500 once because the guy was getting out of mechanics. Wait for the deals.
look at blue point they are snap on off brand and they make a nice roll around that can do double duty as a box and service cart. mine is yellow (not my favorite color) bought it used with some hand tools and air tools for $400. look for the deals and don't get over invested. Wait until you do it for a living before investing large amounts of money.
I have been checking out all you videos on your square body and seen many attempts at this I have been wondering tour thoughts on my project I'm hoping to start next month I'm wanting to put the 86" c20 on my 01 stepside Z-71 it's seems to be a lot less fabrication then the ls swap and same with the wiring with the gauges and things your showing I'm and getting parts or lift kits and things would all still be 01 parts exhaust fuel tank maybe drive shaft and rear end moved but the wheel base measures pretty close between these to the trucks just wanting what your thoughts where thanks like your videos and truck is looking good
Thanks Steve! Yea, one day I plan to set a square over onto a 2000 and newer GM frame. I think that it's a great idea. Not only do you get the power train, but you get the nice brakes and power steering. All the new stuff and it'll ride like a newer truck.
The LS PCM usually doesn't monitor oil pressure or fuel. I use a separate gauge for those or just fill the tank every couple days. lol Well there may be a way for the BCM to feed that info, but I wouldn't know since I don't usually swap in the BCM.
Yes, but I used a 91 Suburban gauge cluster because it has an electric speedo instead of cable driven. But I don't even pay attention to those gauges anymore because they're not as accurate as this app is.
im gonna put the exact same engine in my 84 cause I can't seem to find much info on the 6.2 liter diesel or parts to it which I'm trying to maintain a budget but still make pretty decent truck.
+AGearHead4Life Yea my launches are horrible with the 275 60 15 hankooks and 3.42s no spin at all on dry pavement but it chirps them on 1 to 2 shift in the 50s
HELLO AGearHead4Life I HAVE A QUESTION WHERE YOU CONNECT THE PHONE WIRE TO IS IN OBD II PLUG OR IN THE DOWNLOAD CONNECTION ALSO IS THE PHONE CABLE OR IS ESPECIAL CABLE THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP JOSE.
HEY JOSE I CANT REALLY TELL WHAT YOU TYPED THERE PROBABLY BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF PUNCTUATION IT MAKES IT VERY HARD TO UNDERSTAND YOUR QUESTION WHEN ASKING FOR HELP ITS IMPORTANT TO SPEAK AS CLEARLY AS POSSIBLY SO THAT THE PERSON HELPING YOU CAN EASILY GET YOU AN ANSWER OTHERWISE HE MAY JUST SKIP YOUR QUESTION BECAUSE IT WAS TOO HARD TO UNDERSTAND I THINK THAT YOURE ASKING ABOUT A CABLE BUT THERE WAS NO CABLE FOR THIS CONNECTION MAYBE WATCH THE VIDEO AGAIN ITS A WIRELESS BLUETOOTH CONNECTION GOOD LUCK
THANK YOU YOU ANSWER MY QUESTION NICE VIDEOS YOI HAVE VERY INFORMATIVE I YSE TO BE A MASTER MECHANIC FROM TOYOTA BUT MY HEALHT KTP WAWAY FROM TOOLS AFTER 4 MAJOR HART FAILURE AND 2 STRUCK I CAN WORK ANY MORE BUT EVERY THING IS STILL IN MY HEAD THANK YOU YOU ARE VERY NOCKLEGE GUY IS NICE TO KNOW SOME ONE THE CARES ABOUT THE TRAY THANKS JOSE.
How do you keep track of your mileage (odometer)? Or does keeping track of mileage just fall in with "that's the price you pay to be cool"? I have a '79 K5 Blazer 2wd I want to swap and bring to LS Fest!
I dont usually worry about mileage much, but this app tracks it also. Since I have it running overtime I'm driving, its adding it up for me. You can see it in the video. You could also buy an aftermarket speedo. Depending on what you put it in, you could make the factory speedo with trip meter work too.
+AGearHead4Life now I see that it has the Odometer option. That was one of the obstacles that I was worried about in a swap is how to get the gauges to work. But with this way I could go ahead and do a swap and worry about adapting or replying the factory gauges later on down the road.
That’s normal but still warmer than I’d like it to be. From the factory, the trans is cooled by the coolant in the radiator which is at the engine operating temperature which is roughly 200*-215*. So it’ll usually be that temp or hotter once it’s reached operating temp.
i had came across a 5.3 in a impala ss i also have a 5.3 out of a truck i was tryin to see if i could use the flat top pistons in the ss!!! also are the 243 heads better then the 862 heads
Oh yea, that's the setup most guys wish they had. I'd mill those heads down .030" though, if it fits into the budget. It'd make for a better compression ratio.
hey, I'm 16 years old I'm. building my 06 sierra I bought with 117k miles and I'm putting ls1 stock cam from a 60k mile fbody, how well do you think it should do, I will eventually have dyno tuned but it had ls1 heads from factory , intake and soon to come headers/full exhaust
I would suggest finding the article from Car Craft on testing ~21 different stock LS cams. It got great information on lots of cams there. I don't think that it was worth using a LS1 cam. Also, though the LS1 intake looks better, it does not perform better than the truck intake.
Can you do a video on how to install rockers arms I rebuilt my motor and my rockers arms keeping loosening up every time I start my truck I have a 99 GMC Sierra with a 4.8 vortec and have no idea how to fix it
+AGearHead4Life motor is completely stock and no I didn't torque them down someone had told me there hydraulic so you should have the motor on and tighten them down till they stop clicking then a quarter turn
+Sp33dy TuRbO that is actually the cheap one that I was referring to in this video. I use to use those all the time. I left it plugged in 24/7, so they'd break every 6 months, but now something has changed in their production. The ELMs don't work for me anymore. which led me to this and it seems to work on multiple types of applications. That's why I dropped the $25. I'm happy with. Just wish it was as small as the ELM327.
+AGearHead4Life Some ELM devices work fine. The $5 ones are usually knock off's. Spent $15 CDN from a trusted seller and been working for years also plugged in 24/7.
+AGearHead4Life also saw in another video that you said you are in North Alabama? I live in Huntsville man maybe I'll see you around sometime! again awesome videos man, keep it up!
I have a few questions on doing a swap, I also have a 87 R10, I can't find a way to message your channel. Anyway to contact you? have you pick your brain on a few things.
Hello! The best way to contact me is here in the comments. My inbox and emails are overfilled with questions and I can't keep up. So I do my best to stay caught up on the comments here on YT.
The term Vortec was used for too many years to be an accurate name. When I hear Vortec motor, I think of the SBC motros in 1996 trucks. You must be talking about the LS vortec motors though. That basically just means that its the truck version. They'll have cast iron blocks as the main difference. Many similarities though.
You'd think that there's got to be a way to adapt a sensor to the tail shaft of that trans to make it electronic though. Maybe I'll run into a project like that one day.
I saw a forum where a guy changed the tail shaft form an 88 t-case to a 90 t-case changing the gear in the shaft to the one on of the 90 in order for the electronic speedo to work
only thing i dont like about torque is that it wont connect to my mercedes, but everything else seems to work fine, I have a s10 with a 6.0 swap, my stock gauges woundnt work so installed a tablet inside the dash, now when i fire it up the tablet comes up and the app auto starts
+Russell Sands the programing a buddy did, im not computer savy at all, but took the design for the bezel to a local trade school and they had the students cnc me the bezel that fit in the stock location but did loose the stock fuel gauge, had to go with a aftermarket fuel gauge and sending unit
+THE STUTTERIN GUNNER you have a s10. I would like to see your setup and what aftermarket stuff did you use for the fuel and the sending unit. IF you would could you pm me I need to ask you a few questions on the eletronis
+baylor10010 yeah definitely, if i can get over to it this weekend ill send ya everything i got, the motor is out now getti g reworked, going with a twin turbo system and sending the transmission out to get reworked, but everything else is the dash is install
+THE STUTTERIN GUNNER ok cool thanks my issuse is that i got a harness for the motor and trany but i am at a loss for how to make the headlights turn signal radio and dome lights work. with. the fuse box inside
Not that I know of. Well you can get a speedo app for any phone. But you dont have a computer monitoring all of these things, so there wouldn't be anything for the app to read, maybe just timing. Actually, I'm not sure what all that MSD box monitors, but I think it just does the ignition.
I use the dash oil gauge. The stock PCM doesnt usually monitor oil pressure. I'll use a mechanical one, like on my test stand to verify oil pressure. Once you have good pressure, it's not common to just lose it often. It's not something that is going to change often like coolant temp, but of course its a good idea to have an oil gauge.
+xSnakeStyles It does not because the PCM does not usually receive that information from the oil sender. The oil sender usually connects directly to the gauge on the dash. There may be a way to make it work with Wiring, but it won't work by default. I haven't gotten the trans temp to function on this app either yet.
I wish! I'm overloaded with help requests that I can not keep up. Posting here is the best way and takes me about a week to respond. Also in the process of moving.
Most of the time LSx PCMs don't monitor the oil pressure. Some may though. That dash gague just runs to the sender. So the option is up to you. It's not something that has to be monitored as often as coolant, rpm or speed. I am currently using my stock gauge to monitor oil pressure. Before I put the engine in and run them on the stand, I just use a regular mechanical oil pressure gauge.

+AGearHead4Life thanks for the reply man. I'm sure I'll be asking more on my K5 build!
I have put a NV4500 unit in mine but still got to get it all going. Will see how it works

Does it have oil pressure?
Hell yeah, also digging the Ducati's 👍🏼
thank you for this video!!! I'm definitely ordering one tomorrow if it's not expensive

by chance do you know if the adapter is mode $06 capable?
Hey Mark, I was wondering how you wired up your obd2 port into the factory harness. Doing an LS swap into an 82 c10
thank you excellent video, exactly what I was looking for
Can it read gas level ? My 02 Silverado has a problem when the weather is warm or when I use the stereo the gas and temp gauge won't work
+Elguero 1500 I'm not sure. I've never tried it since I've usually install the engine into a vehicle that has a fuel system from an older non-OBDII model.
did you need service on the android phone? nice truck brother
Love the videos Man
hay Mark just checking with you to see if you had to do any fab work to your truck to install your 4l80e trans
I'm getting ready to do an LS swap in my 03 range rover hse, possibly the most difficult swap ever... any tips on something like this?
got mine in the mail today! !!
sweeeeet!
Cool video the torque app also work with blackberry os10 I love that app
Good to know! Thanks!
Have you ever used this and seen the injector pulse get to bank 1 and bank 2 but not show up at the injectors?
Hi, agh4l.
I'm working in 91 camaro v6. Swap 5.3 from silverado.
If I want rpm gauge and speedometer working, do I just connect green wire from vss signal to speed input on the cluster and tach signal from pcm to input rpm on the cluster?
Thinking of doing this. Try to use ebay display on my 57 f100 ls swap and have no luck trying to communicate.
Lovin the LS mods and info. Just curious if that OBD setup shows instant mileage and MPG info as well?
It does do MPG, not sure about instant but likely. I've only tested the MPG once, but it seemed pretty dang close. Its dependent on the vehicle profile info that you put in.
Man that's a sweet app. I need me one of those
This is awesome so you don't have to have internet continually to run gauges??
Thanks! Not at all. A smart phone is still a great computer, even when not connected to the internet.
Please do a video of how you wired bulk head wiring harness into LS harness... thanks
I'll put it on the list!
I noticed the newer Chevy steering wheel... do those have the same spline count ? or do u have to swap the steering column?
+alby_truckin95 Same! Just slipped it on.
I'm LS swapping my 2012 mustang will this keep up with how much fuel I have as well ?
I just got my dongle from your link on this video. Will it work if I power up the harness if the engine is not running? I bought my engine used and have not seen it run yet, and I'd like to check to see if there are any error codes stored on the computer.
Yea, it'll work like that to communicate with the PCM. You likely won't have any stored codes though, since the power has been disconnected.
Who do you recommend for ECM reprogramming? You mentioned it but I can't find it.
+AGearHead4Life Thanks A ton I will use your advice!
+Brett Boynton I will look into it man thanks a lot!
So do you know what we can use with iPhone? I had an Android with torque app and it was all fine then i swapped to iPhone and can’t use it now
I ordered and got mine too. It doesn't do oil pressure right? How do you get the gas gauge to work on it?
The LS PCM usually doesn't monitor oil pressure or fuel. I use a separate gauge for those or just fill the tank every couple days. lol Well there may be a way for the BCM to feed that info, but I wouldn't know since I don't usually swap in the BCM.
do your stock truck guages work with the ls? I'm doing a swap in a 66 Caprice and am wanting to keep my stock mechanical guages
Yes, but I used a 91 Suburban gauge cluster because it has an electric speedo instead of cable driven. But I don't even pay attention to those gauges anymore because they're not as accurate as this app is.
Great vid good info.
Kiwi Boosted Garage Thank you!
im gonna put the exact same engine in my 84 cause I can't seem to find much info on the 6.2 liter diesel or parts to it which I'm trying to maintain a budget but still make pretty decent truck.
I wanted to do a diesel build on my last C10, but the cost of those engines stopped me. I found a 5.3 for much cheaper and it's been a blast.
Do you happen to know if this Bluetooth adaptor will work with LS Droid?
Nah I do not, but I bet that it would. It’s a universal adapter.
so what did you do with the tach and vss cables?
I'm not sure what you're referring to. The app on the phone reads that from the PCM all through the OBDII port. No extra wires are needed.
i'm using this for my swap. but does it read oil pressure?
No it doesn't, because the PCM doesn't read it to give the information to the app.
I have a s10 with a lm7 I bought standalone harness. I get petting p0200,p0343 and p0101. Any idea what it could be
I have the same injector code,. What is that one caused by?
Don't you need the VIN for the code reader to work? LS3 in a 69 vette; I want a tablet gauge pack.
Thanks!
Geoff Kilcollum Nope. Just plug it in and connect the tablet.
thanks!
I wanna see some full throttle pulls from a stop with the new converter i currently have a c1500 ecsb 5.3 4l80e swap with stock converter
Yes! I want to make that video too... BAD! It is awesome and is a whole new world. Makes you love an 80e even more. No more bogged down launches.
+AGearHead4Life Yea my launches are horrible with the 275 60 15 hankooks and 3.42s no spin at all on dry pavement but it chirps them on 1 to 2 shift in the 50s
Yep, same situation I was in before the stall.. tire size, gear ratio and all. I love my 3.42s now.
+AGearHead4Life I'm looking forward to seeing the videos...
Thank you Jose! Sorry to hear about your health, but glad to see the gearhead mindset is still strong. Keep at it man!
Does the phone have to be connected to a service plan to get GPS service?
Nope! I've been using this phone without cell service for many years now and the GPS works.
How do you get it to read oil pressure on a 2006 Chevy 4.3?
I see everything but that...on torque.
+Laby 70 Yea, I don't think you'll get that to work. Usually the PCM on GMs don't read the oil pressure. It's only there for the gauge.
Yep! That's what I do.
John Kahl
What to do a similar swap to a dodge short bed 2005. Need your input. Good idea or bad.
That decision can only be made by you man. You have to decide if you like the idea or not and if it'll be worth the effort in the end.
I love it man
Marc SS Thanks Marc!
this would be great for larger android tablets as a main Gauge set up
Yep! I picked up a 7" tablet that I'm planning to mount eventually.
Hi what is the normal temperature runing? My 5.3. Goes to 206 f.
That’s normal but still warmer than I’d like it to be. From the factory, the trans is cooled by the coolant in the radiator which is at the engine operating temperature which is roughly 200*-215*. So it’ll usually be that temp or hotter once it’s reached operating temp.
i had came across a 5.3 in a impala ss i also have a 5.3 out of a truck i was tryin to see if i could use the flat top pistons in the ss!!! also are the 243 heads better then the 862 heads
yes, you can use the pistons and yes those 243s are the best cathedral port head that you can get. You'll have an excellent setup.
Thank you man you just made me happy azz Fuck!!!!
Oh yea, that's the setup most guys wish they had. I'd mill those heads down .030" though, if it fits into the budget. It'd make for a better compression ratio.
+AGearHead4Life that should only be about 100 bucks a head!! but i can do that!!! thanks for the info 4real!!
No problem. BTW, It usually only costs me $75 for a pair of heads to be milled.
I have a 95 silver and doing ls swap dose this device work on my truck ?
Yes, anything OBD2, which is ‘96 and newer. The LS will be OBD2 and that port will be added to your truck.
hey, I'm 16 years old I'm. building my 06 sierra I bought with 117k miles and I'm putting ls1 stock cam from a 60k mile fbody, how well do you think it should do, I will eventually have dyno tuned but it had ls1 heads from factory , intake and soon to come headers/full exhaust
I would suggest finding the article from Car Craft on testing ~21 different stock LS cams. It got great information on lots of cams there. I don't think that it was worth using a LS1 cam. Also, though the LS1 intake looks better, it does not perform better than the truck intake.
Can you do a video on how to install rockers arms I rebuilt my motor and my rockers arms keeping loosening up every time I start my truck I have a 99 GMC Sierra with a 4.8 vortec and have no idea how to fix it
wow, that is just weird. They should not loosen up. Is it all stock motor? Yea, I'd like to do a video on that.
+AGearHead4Life thank you that would be very helpful
Is your motor stock? Are the bearings in the rockers still in good condition? Did you torque them down to 20-22 ft lbs?
does it have an aftermarket cam? are the pushrods the correct length?
+AGearHead4Life motor is completely stock and no I didn't torque them down someone had told me there hydraulic so you should have the motor on and tighten them down till they stop clicking then a quarter turn
I was wondering could this also work with a tablet.
yep! As long as you can go to the app store and download the toque app.
Are you in central texas?
I will be next year, when I move back home to San Antonio. See my last update video.
Buen video saludos desde mexico!
hopefully this product work, I'll bought the 327 elm that cost 5 bucks didn't connect to my ecu 5.3
Spent $15 CDN from a trusted seller and been working for years also plugged in 24/7.
what color is that?? I'm wanting to paint my 85 gmc and really like that blue. do you know what it is??
I have no idea, plus I'm color blind. When I had the hood painted they just shot the old paint with a gun to determine what to paint the rest with.
+AGearHead4Life ok well it's a really nice blue man! thanks for the reply and keep up the good work man, love the videos
+AGearHead4Life also saw in another video that you said you are in North Alabama? I live in Huntsville man maybe I'll see you around sometime! again awesome videos man, keep it up!
Thanks man! Yep, I currently live in Huntsville for the next few months, then I'll be moving back home to Texas. I'll see you on the streets man!
So I do my best to stay caught up on the comments here on YT.
do they make an app like this for obd1?
I havent seen one yet. Doubtful though, since vehicle dont come with OBDI anymore, there's not much of a demand for it.
can you please explain the difference between an ls motor and a vortec motor please and thank you
The term Vortec was used for too many years to be an accurate name. When I hear Vortec motor, I think of the SBC motros in 1996 trucks. You must be talking about the LS vortec motors though. That basically just means that its the truck version. They'll have cast iron blocks as the main difference. Many similarities though.
Thank you for understanding my question and giving me an answer
What if I'm doing stand alone and using the original th400 transmission how could I get it to read my speed? Any thoughts?
Besides a GPS speedo, they have a cable to electric signal converter, that I've heard of. I dont have any other way at this time.
Hm that could work thanks man
You'd think that there's got to be a way to adapt a sensor to the tail shaft of that trans to make it electronic though. Maybe I'll run into a project like that one day.
I saw a forum where a guy changed the tail shaft form an 88 t-case to a 90 t-case changing the gear in the shaft to the one on of the 90 in order for the electronic speedo to work
Probably just changing the gear on the speedo reader to work on the gear on the old shaft
Can you view the actual milage of the engine
No, I believe that information is stored in the gauge cluster.
What is the name of the obd2 Bluetooth adapter I need I want the better one
It's in the video description, if I'm understanding your question correctly.
Does it read fuel
probly work on my old stepside today just because i watched this, needs alignment.
Get it!
only thing i dont like about torque is that it wont connect to my mercedes, but everything else seems to work fine, I have a s10 with a 6.0 swap, my stock gauges woundnt work so installed a tablet inside the dash, now when i fire it up the tablet comes up and the app auto starts
curious how you did this
+Russell Sands the programing a buddy did, im not computer savy at all, but took the design for the bezel to a local trade school and they had the students cnc me the bezel that fit in the stock location but did loose the stock fuel gauge, had to go with a aftermarket fuel gauge and sending unit
Thanks a lot for the info
Nor problem Anthony!
and there isnt noting like this for a carbed LS with 6010 msd?
Not that I know of. Well you can get a speedo app for any phone. But you dont have a computer monitoring all of these things, so there wouldn't be anything for the app to read, maybe just timing. Actually, I'm not sure what all that MSD box monitors, but I think it just does the ignition.
does the app do oil pressure?
It may, but the LS computer does not.
Why do you need to get one of those when you have one right there?
Chris Mollard One of what Chris?
Man I can't figure out how to get those gauges mine are different on torque pro
Just touch and hold your finger on a blank spot and it should give you the option to add a gauge and whatever style and size that you want.
June 2021 is anyone still using this app and Bluetooth device? Or is there a newer better one? Thanks
I might make a custom bracket and buy a cheap tablet and mount it in !
Will it read oil pressure? Or do u run a oil pressure gauge?
I use the dash oil gauge. The stock PCM doesnt usually monitor oil pressure. I'll use a mechanical one, like on my test stand to verify oil pressure. Once you have good pressure, it's not common to just lose it often. It's not something that is going to change often like coolant temp, but of course its a good idea to have an oil gauge.
Does anyone know if this can also display oil pressure gauge?
+xSnakeStyles It does not because the PCM does not usually receive that information from the oil sender. The oil sender usually connects directly to the gauge on the dash.
There may be a way to make it work with Wiring, but it won't work by default.
I haven't gotten the trans temp to function on this app either yet.
it shows that there are two different ones of bafx does it matter which one I can use
+Victor Rivera Where does it show two different ones? The one in the link in the video description should work for you.
the link don't says sorry the page couldn't be found
+Victor Rivera Thanks! I'll check the link.
The link is working for me.
yes I seen it thank you
Dude is there a way we could TXT I need help on my swap
I wish! I'm overloaded with help requests that I can not keep up. Posting here is the best way and takes me about a week to respond. Also in the process of moving.
what about the oil psi?
Most of the time LSx PCMs don't monitor the oil pressure. Some may though. That dash gague just runs to the sender. So the option is up to you. It's not something that has to be monitored as often as coolant, rpm or speed. I am currently using my stock gauge to monitor oil pressure. Before I put the engine in and run them on the stand, I just use a regular mechanical oil pressure gauge.
Ok kool. I love the way that look simple and easy no wiring needed.
