@RicketySkiReviews Hey Elliott! Love the videos, one thing I have noticed that's hard finding info on from Reddit is good information on bindings. Everyone seems to be such die hard fans of Pivots. Would love for you to do a video talking about the different bindings systems and your thoughts on them!

Honestly pretty much any binding from reputable manufacturers will be fine these days. Most important is to look for a binding where the DIN is suited to your weight and ability (ideally where the DIN sits near the middle of its range for your abilities). You also need to make sure they work for the type of boot you use (ie. AT, gripwalk, etc). If you need AT or tele bindings that's a whole different kettle of fish.

Elliot, I liked the content on this video. You give a ton of information in the answers to viewers questions. I’d like to see more of these for sure

That was cool I liked the variety of questions. Someone was selling a really old pair of 207 length racing Volkls in the Mammoth parking lot last July, I own a pair of 2002/03 Volkl G2 Vertigos so I was trippin! I heard in May about the CEO of Altera emphasizing getting more 'Families' on the mtn. That's an old money grubbing rap that I rather resent now; didn't know our Ikon CEO was former TicketBastard who was guilt tripping us OGs. That's total BS thanks for your honesty Elliot, and the video!

Buying used skis is a crap-shoot. The wood structure breaks down with thousands of flexes. The may look to be in reasonable shape on the outside but the wood is dead on the inside and will no longer provide energy coming out of the turn. A light, gentle skier may never wear out their skis but a big, aggressive carver can wear out a ski in as little as 40-60 uses. The useful life of a ski is typically around 100 uses and also depends on the materials/woods used in it's construction. But beginners don't need a super responsive ski anyway so if it's your only way to get on snow go ahead and find a cheap pair to start on. Another good option is to rent a ski, boot, pole package for the season instead of by the day. My favorite thing to do is buy new skis out of season. Some great deals to be had right now on 23-24 ski gear.

I lied it. A good idea to revisit it once in a while. Especially off season.

When I got back into skiing after 20 years the ski shop said the first thing that I needed was boots.. I tried a lot of different pairs of boots on before I found the "right fit."
I started going to BRECK in the 80s with my family.. I don't think they even had a QUAD back then.. I remember food was a little expensive on the hill back then but we could still afford it.. (chili in a bread bowl... mmmmm).. The hill was not overcrowded like it is now.. I am pretty sure that lift tickets were $35.. I remember freaking out when lift tickets got up to $50.. Now the lift tickets are $300.. The California Corporate Greed really took over and they charge $$$ for everything...

I'm banned for life from reddit for correctly geo guessing someone's location from a video clip they posted. Had no idea this was against the TOS. Was just enjoying the challenge. Mods there are insane with power.

14:30 I almost always agree...but those Super7 aren't that old of a design. Those skis were sold through 2020 with only a topsheet change. My only concern is that these are 116mm powder skis...but if you are looking to round out your quiver for the skis you might use just a few days a year, these are a deal.

As an Ikon skier, should I be confident that Altera's currently installing 2 new 6-packs at Mammoth, and installed 1 6-pack each at Mammoth & Squaw for 2022/23, and the highly debated, questioned, ridiculed Base to Base gondola from Alpine Meadows to Squaw, also for 2022/23, considering how resentful the CEO sounds? And you're quite right, $12 canned beers, $20 chicken strips w/fries, they make their damned money!

Yes, the 2 quads that were replaced at mammoth were outdated fossils that were at the end of their life. Just be glad that Alterra is investing in capital improvements.

I think Deb Armstrong has good ski teaching content, but her content is maybe best suited for guiding people looking to teach friends/family rather than self-teaching. Her content has helped me successfully teach friends and family, though I also had formal ski instructor training about a decade ago, and this channel has certainly nudged me to focus more on getting people to learn by feeling. The Stomp It Tutorials video for How to Ski in a Day is quite an impressively comprehensive video for self-teaching.

Every response from the industry, or those directly drawing financial well being from the industry, is going to deflect attention away from profits.
