    The purpose of this basic video is make the interested user understand or have an idea how to approach an 'arch design with raised bolsters'.
    Usually this design comes with 'cuts/junctions in the corners which 'help' to give the 'raised appearance'. As you can see, at first sight the 'corner junction sewing' seems straight, but after unsewing it, we realize there are 'two notorius curves' in its ends. A 'convex curve' to the outside and a 'convex curve' to the inside.
    When I was a young man it always called my attention how those 'mustang bucket seats from the sixties' were done. I remember that still in the seventies everybody wanted to have such a kind of seat in his car.
    Hopefully, I would find and old mustang seat to reupholster it and show the procedures from the begining to the end.
    I hope you find this video useful and as a way of inspiration to develop your own car upholstery projects!
    César

    LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! I build classic cars and the part I dislike is taking it to a upholstery shop. In southern California is a lot of shops but not many that I like. The one I like I can't afford and he has a long waiting time. I tried a few that I was recommended and at the end was disappointed. I did my 1957 Ford a few years back with my wife's domestic machine. It wasn't easy but came out nice as some of the shops out here. I have no experience with upholstery except for that car. I want to learn so I can do my 57 Nomad. I am very picky and when I show my car to a couple local shops they didn't want to touch it because they said I wouldn't be happy and told me I should go to the shop I can't afford. Its funny that I didn't tell them about that shop. They knew what I wanted because I showed them drawings of what I want but they didn't feel confident that could do a good job. Your videos are giving me the courage to do it. I like the way you do the patterns. I wanted to do raised arch with a little shape in the standard bench that it has. I like to see you make a video on foam and how to shape it. different densities and what to use on the sides and back support .I have seen different videos with good ideas but always go back to you because you are clear and to the point. Your videos have made decide to buy a commercial machine and just it myself
    THANKS AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY

    great video like always, thank you so much for all you video teachings, I got lucky to be able to work upholstery the last few weeks, a I've done over 60 gym equipment panels and getting very good at it. Hi Chris, The link you saved is the same : www.thethreadexchange.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=polyester-thread-092 This polyester thread size 92 is the standard most of the upholsterers use.
      They also sell Groz Beckert industrial needles according to your sewing machine...A 140(european size)=22(American/Singer size) would be ok. www.thethreadexchange.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=needles

    Ya menciono en el vídeo que usted y el amigo Mario han sido quienes me inspiraron y animaron a introducirme en el mundo de la tapicería. Muchas gracias de nuevo! ;-)

      Ya observé el video del tapizado de su carro. ¡Quedó super! Me pongo a pensar que es posible aprender muchas cosas si nos decidimos a hacerlo.

    It is easier to put the straight ban of the seat on the bottom and the curved piece on the top when sewing. It makes it easier to turn the corner.

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, 'surrounding lateral panels should be sewn to main panels' to make sewing procedure easier'. In most cases it is a general rule with some exceptions, though.
      Thanks so much for commenting on this upholstery channel!

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@attilabori4734 Hello Attila, The exceptions are very scarce. I would like to make a video about with an example. Some upholsterers sew a main panel to the lateral panel in case of car seats and bags. It works, but the process is not comfortable enough. As mentioned before, the main panel should remain flat and the skirt lateral panel should be manipulated all around while sewing process.
      As always, you are welcome to this channel!
      My Best Regards,
      Cesar

    These are very informative videos. I have a hard time with this type of detail work but these videos help a lot. Can you recommend any online supply shops where I can purchase material for re-covering automotive seats, door covers and possibly center consoles? Currently the car I'm restoring has an all black leather interior. Drivers seat is very worn down. I'd like to re-cover the two front seats in a nice soft leather, matte finish. The foam on the drivers seat might need to be replaced or have another layer added to restore it. thanks!

      As I am located in Mexico, I only have a limited information about leather suppliers in USA. I am subscribed to the Hog Ring Forum and I have heard most of the car trimmers use 'Relicate Leather' relicate.com/collections/leather-1

      One of my customers sent me another link:www.worlduph.com/

    Another great video. On the 3d design how did you get the foam that round. Did you use a angle grinder or hand sand

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      An angle grinder is useful to give shape to the foam, but for this demonstration I used a different method. Hopefully, I could explain it with written words:
      1. I first cut a rectangular 5 cm medium density foam as a base. I cut two corners in round shape.
      2. How I did the round bolster all around?
      By using another similar 5 cm foam I cut perpendicular a 12 cm wide 'band' all
      around. I also cut round the outer corners and the inside two corners.
      By having this 12 cm wide strip/band of foam I liberally pasted some glue all over
      the lateral 5 cm high parts of the cut foam.
      I first started with the 'inside wall' of the foam. After the glue was dryed what I did is
      try to make meet the upper edge all along with the lower edge. Same procedure I
      did with the outside.
      3. After having my rounded band of foam I glued it and placed it onto the first foam base.
      To have a better idea watch minute two:32 of this video: th-cam.com/video/GUcut0US-MA/w-d-xo.html

    Buenas tardes amigo cesar excelente video como siempre! Necesito de tu experiencia, tengo la posibilidad de avanzar, para hacer mejores trabajos, siguiendo tus consejos, pues estoy por adquirir una maquina triple arrastre, y me venden una de una costura y otra de 2 costuras a 1/4 de pulgada, la primera me cuesta $9000 y la segunda $11000 ambas de la misma marca y similares condiciones! En tu experiencia con cual te quedarias y por que? Te agradezco mucho tu consejo!

      @Cechaflo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Estimado Leonardo, Muy interesante pregunta y con sinceridad no se que contestar. Yo en mi caso compraría las dos máquinas. Por cierto hasta ahora, solamente tengo máquina de una sola aguja. Podría simplemente dar una opinión; me parece que al comprar una máquina de dos agujas tendrías dos máquinas en una. Pienso que tendrías que hacer una prueba si es posible trabajar en forma normal con una sola aguja. ¿Sería con el mismo pié de presión, o tener otro adicional de una sola aguja? Cuando fuera necesario hacer puntadas dobles/costura francesa, simplemente habría que colocar la otra aguja. Recomiendo hacer unas pruebas antes de comprar, para estar seguro que la máquina haría con facilidad la doble función.
