    I did not want to overlook a more simple way to make bulky foamed diamonds. The process is similar to what we showed in former video.
    Perhaps, this method would suit much much better for automotive purposes. As thread stitching lines are in a lower relief it helps to avoid daily rubbing of car driver or passenger.
    4, 5 to 6 mm long of stitches are good. Longer stitches are mostly used on furniture. Too long stitches are prone to break. And, too short stitches weaken the material and worse if the leather becomes brittle for different reasons, such as UVrays, fungi, humidity, etc.
    The foam I have used has some 'memory' that allows it to recuperate its density right away. It acts like a spring. Some people use it to make boxing gloves.
    I hope you enjoy the video and find it useful!
    Cesar

      I will soon do a related video. The basic tools to do upholstery is a pair of scissors, a cutting table, some pens, waxed pencils, handsewing needles, hog ring pliers, some wrench, spanners, pair of pliers, screwdrivers, etc. and the sewing machine.
      Tos start out any sewing machine is useful. Simple transport machines could work with a roller foot.
      If possible, from the beginning try to get a double or triple transport machine. It could be used or new.th-cam.com/video/U3HBXBDDKoo/w-d-xo.html

    Beautiful piece! You like those German machines. They're great. That Adler is asking you to run a servo motor and gear reduction pulley, with that high foot lift, and long stroke. You're a pro, and don't need it, but it's a fun upgrade!

      I had forgotten to mention the Singer machines, sorry ! I started out doing car upholstery with my mother's Singer treadle domestic sewing machine. I adapted a small roller foot and got accustomed to it, achieving almost the same outcome as walking foot machines. After then I bought a semi industrial Union Special single transport sewing machine also with treadle motion. And always with roller foot at that time.

    Your videos and work is amazing! I am working with faux suede for the first time. 3.5” wide pleats on 1/2” sew foam but it seems loose or puckered after the pleats are sewn. Is that normal? Do you think it will tighten up when stretched on the seat? I’m not glue it to the foam.

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would need to check out the upper and lower tensions. Loosen a little the spring tensioner of presser foot. If your machine has a presser foot height regulator, set it up to highest position. This issue could be solved when stretched onto the seat.

      I also used a silver leather marking pen. www.amazon.com/Holsten-Leather-Silver-Marking-Pens/dp/B0859G9Y62
      There is a liquid shoemakers use here in Mexico to clean off certain pen marks, goo, glue, etc. on leather or vinyl. It is called 'washer'(lavador). By the odor I deducted it is benzine. The 'gasolina blanca'/mineral spirits also works out well!
