Its worth mentioning that the ba bf and fg have variances in the cradle. The biggest one to be wary of is the ba bf has shorter shafts because the mounting points for all the arms on the ba bf cradle is closer to the centre. When you’re spinning the tyre you’re spinning the gear inside the diff, this spins the spider gear (the gear attached to the ring gear) in place, since it would encounter more immediate resistance spinning the ring gear around. The ring gear is connected to the driveshaft, then the transmission and maybe the engine. Now the rotation has gone through the spider gear it reverses. Think about a flat horizontal gear from above, engaged with two vertical gears, as it rotates clockwise, the gear on the right spins towards down, the left gear spins towards up.

Great video mate, question did you use the same tailshaft for the lsd? I just bought an lsd to do the same but its 15mm longer than the open? Anyone help?
You have probably seen an upgrade kit to fix the diff bush issues the diff hat is reinforced to take a different bush set up and the diff bush housing that gives you the trouble is ground off looks pretty impressive and I presume overall makes the weight bearing even in the rear suspension
Yep, the IMS twin diff bush you refer to looks like a great bit of gear. But at around $1k + labour if needed plus still having to add the price of the front bushes on top it's just not economical for a lot of people until you're pushing some good power and abuse through it. Maybe one day...

The stands used are rated at 430mm max working height, seems fairly standard and I'd say most will go to similar height or taller. These are same as used but a newer design - www.shorturl.at/csISY Hope that helps mate, good luck.
Can't say for 100% but everything I've seen says the cradles are the same. Turbo centre and axles seem ok to swap into the NA cradle, Sol's Creations did it in a video - th-cam.com/video/SrjqlvYZ_ps/w-d-xo.html
How have the nolathane bushes gone? I'm planning on using the nolathane NEK3 kit in my BF2 XR8 but a lot of people seem to have gone with the superpro bushes because of early complaints about the nolathane bushes being too harsh. You had any issues?
Missed this somehow. I've had no dramas so far, but it has largely been a shed ornament and not done a heap of KM's. Mind you if I did it again I would strongly consider the SuperPro bushes, purely for the one rear bush. As this video shows the Nolathane one pushes in far too easy, I'm a bit skeptical on that one bush - th-cam.com/video/NHDPzefvVPQ/w-d-xo.html
@@BrowneysGarage thanks for the replay. That's unfortunate. I might have to go the superpro kit. I've never had an issue with any nolathane bushes but I don't want to be pulling the cradle out again any time soon.
@@BrowneysGarage hahaha I’ve used your videos for my interior lighting and what not and you have been pretty handy, just one question when your launching your car, are you braking fully and if so would that hurt my stock diff if I was to do it?
Yep that’s it mate. With enough abuse it’s possible but it would have to be A LOT or you’d be pretty unlucky, they’re fairly tough. Especially without big power and the factory single spinner.
Hey Tom. The broad process will be similar (remove shocks, brakes and handbrake out the way, unbolt anything holding it in etc) but the utes have a very different diff and spring setup - IRS and coil springs in sedans vs solid and leaf springs in utes. A workshop manual like in the below link should give you a good run down on the job, good luck 👍 www.allcarmanuals.com/factory-service-manual-70-Ford-Falcon-BA.html
@@BrowneysGarage thanks for response mate, so I’d have to get a diff off a turbo Ute not just a sedan, and basically the same process👍🏼 Thanks for the link too, love the videos!
@@DADOSUKKI Turbo ute diff or one from a ute optioned with LSD, either should work I'd say. Just double check your tail shaft will suit and they're not slightly different lengths if you can too, not sure on that one. And thanks for watching mate!
@@BrowneysGarage Good video, quick tip, removing the axles from the hubs are difficult, I use one of those cheap 20t hydralic pully pullers with a home made extension that's about 100mm long (five nuts tack welded and a bolt, male on one end female on the other end to use pullers original pointy bit) on the ram, cut two old rear disc rotor face's off to anchor too using 1/2" UNF nuts for the studs. Have to remove brake rotors on axles to be removed, it's the only way I've been able to remove them without damaging axle ends or hub bearings.
I’m slowy prepping my auto xr6 ba na for a turbo conversion only got 7 months as green p plater left and I was told I would need to upgrade my diff from the stock one, what should I be looking for?
Don't know about NEED mate, I'm pretty sure the factory single spinner one would hold up depending on how it's driven. Even then it would probably be ok if driven hard. If you want to upgrade to an LSD though a second hand unit from a turbo BA/BF would be a good option. It'll be 3.46 (or a think more rare are 3.23) ratio so look for this and the LSD markings on the tag.
Big daddy: Major surgery mate, the Ute's have a old skool have a solid rear axle & leaf springs, better to throw a 9 inch under it, wish l could on my sedan.
I haven’t had any issues with them so far. In saying that though the car doesn’t get driven a great deal so perhaps it’s to come yet, and after installing these and seeing/talking to a few big workshops who much prefer them I’d probably go SuperPro next time. So far so good here though 👍
Same as my XR6 so yes I believe so. One thing to note though, some have said you need the tailshaft also to suit, as it's a touch shorter. I haven't had any dramas with it but may have got lucky/the car doesn't have the best history so may be something in that. Good luck
@Roy Sutherland If you search NA Turbo Barra or similar in TH-cam you'll come up with a few people who have done it, various different takes on it out there I'm sure. Will be covering it myself in detail once the NA series is done 👍
I know you probably won’t see this comment but anyways how long did it take to remove the entire setup just want an idea of if it’s worth me doing or not
I see it 👍. Can't help much though sorry, so hard to judge with running cameras and what not as well and I'm pretty bloody slow. Sure if you had no dramas and bust your butt it could be done in under a day, even at home, but when does that ever happen!
They pop up, keep an eye out for people wrecking cars or selling them on Facebook marketplace, gumtree, eBay, all the usual. Or Ford specialist wreckers but you’ll pay a premium I’d say.

does the bf xr6 turbo come stock with a lsd? tia
Do the Fg utes come with lsd diffs?
Hey brownie or anyone that might know, would this process be the same with the utes, I assume so but just want to make sure before I pull it all off
Hey Tom. The broad process will be similar (remove shocks, brakes and handbrake out the way, unbolt anything holding it in etc) but the utes have a very different diff and spring setup - IRS and coil springs in sedans vs solid and leaf springs in utes. A workshop manual like in the below link should give you a good run down on the job, good luck 👍

@@BrowneysGarage thanks for response mate, so I’d have to get a diff off a turbo Ute not just a sedan, and basically the same process👍🏼
Thanks for the link too, love the videos!
@@DADOSUKKI Also check ratio as it can upset speedo and been told it can upset computers on auto's.
How do the kings springs handle?
For what is a budget setup between that and the cheaper shocks it's good, pretty firm but not terrible or bouncy or anything like that.
Can u put a sedan diff in a Ute ??
@Big Daddy Nope sorry they're completely different, would be a HUGE job.
Big daddy: Major surgery mate, the Ute's have a old skool have a solid rear axle & leaf springs, better to throw a 9 inch under it, wish l could on my sedan.
How did the bushes hold up looking to do mine in 2003 ba next weekend
I haven’t had any issues with them so far. In saying that though the car doesn’t get driven a great deal so perhaps it’s to come yet, and after installing these and seeing/talking to a few big workshops who much prefer them I’d probably go SuperPro next time.
So far so good here though 👍
Where do you get that spoiler from ?
@Matthew Black Hi Matthew, been a while but believe this is the one I got - ebay.to/31iHqss
Hi,
Just wanted to ask will an xr6 turbo cradle for a ba/bf fit into my falcon ba xt ?
Same as my XR6 so yes I believe so. One thing to note though, some have said you need the tailshaft also to suit, as it's a touch shorter. I haven't had any dramas with it but may have got lucky/the car doesn't have the best history so may be something in that. Good luck
Is there a website to buy all performance engine stuff strictly for Ford falcon all models?
@Roy Sutherland Not that I'm aware of mate, just have to pick and chose between individual suppliers.
@@BrowneysGarage do you have a website that could lead me in the right track to getting everything I need for a turbo installation complete setup?
For my ba xt ford
@Roy Sutherland If you search NA Turbo Barra or similar in TH-cam you'll come up with a few people who have done it, various different takes on it out there I'm sure. Will be covering it myself in detail once the NA series is done 👍
I know you probably won’t see this comment but anyways how long did it take to remove the entire setup just want an idea of if it’s worth me doing or not
I see it 👍. Can't help much though sorry, so hard to judge with running cameras and what not as well and I'm pretty bloody slow. Sure if you had no dramas and bust your butt it could be done in under a day, even at home, but when does that ever happen!
where would i source a xr6 turbo diff assembly
ive been looking for a bit but i cant find one
They pop up, keep an eye out for people wrecking cars or selling them on Facebook marketplace, gumtree, eBay, all the usual. Or Ford specialist wreckers but you’ll pay a premium I’d say.
Hey mate would a territory diff fit on a ba xr6t? My lsd is shagged and a territory diff is alot cheaper to buy
Couldn't say for sure sorry mate, I haven't personally done it so would just be searching like I'm sure you have. Maybe try on a B-Series group page, sure someone will have a definite answer for you.
Good one a bit cold there lol 😂
@Daza Has been just a tad cold, my garage isn’t exactly the height of luxury! 🤣
Subbed, look forward bro more vids.
Too good, thanks mate! Plenty more to come
Has anyone seen a control blade irs rear in a falcon xr6 ute?
Is is it necessary to remove cradle just to fix a seal leak in diff?
Which seal? Not too sure but I'd say most would be do-able in car, seems like you'd have access enough.
@@BrowneysGarage for fg falcon auto, there’s a leak all over the rear diff. I’m thinking it’s the seal (coming from the propeller shaft). Can’t find any videos yet on how to fix that one
Okay that’s it I don’t need savings, I’m getting a truetrac and 4 sets of tires
@Benson Hedges Be sure to send me videos mate 😂👍
Browney's Garage hell yeah haha
Great job
Good video ✌️
@Goldyzzz Z thanks mate 👍
Don't ever stop Browney
@L S Thanks mate, glad you’re enjoying it 👍
Bloody rippa!
Good video most helpful
LOL, have done this about a Dozen times now.....doesn't seem to get that much easier :(
Damn, that's not what I was expecting you to say at all after the first sentence! Not the hardest job but it sure isn't fun.
@@BrowneysGarage I always end up outside on an uneven driveway in QLD weather....once I did it on grass.... not fun !
@Ford AU Yep I’m spoilt having somewhere to work in now. Nice work getting it done still mate, but I don’t envy you!
If you know you know ford open centre diffs are basically a sloppy lsd
Shed skid woo
Skipped the changing centre... that was whole point video...
