This was legit one of my fav episodes. The fact that Screech so easily gets Kellys attention while Zack and Slater are the doofs of the episode. Just perfect 🎉
"obsess over stupid stuff nobody cares about" is exactly what i'm here for. a saved by the bell deep dive is exactly that! lolll first video i've watched but i've subbed and am all in for this series. sometimes youtube gets me and videos like this about random TV shows are something i really enjoy. glad this channel got recommended.
So many great thing about this episode. Seeing Screech & Kelly... the cantaloupe / melon head exchange. But Kevin the Robot has to be my favorite. It wild that this robot is drawn as a more pleasant character than Lisa, whose entire personality in the entire series = materialistic + mean to Screech.
I like this episode as a turning point in Zack and Slater's relationship. It showed that they could be more than just frenemies by working together toward a common goal, and the episode ends with them making plans to hang out together after discovering some common ground.
In the dream sequence, Zack and Slater portray nerds with thick glasses, high pants, and pocket protectors while Screech actually had none of those things.
That melon head joke is one of my favorites from the entire series. And I think it was one of the first jokes of that kind that I “got” when I saw it. Still makes me laugh to this day.
The cantaloupe/melon head exchange never fails to crack me up. Also, in theory if Kevin had ordered a pizza, Screech's parents would have likely paid for it and brought it to his room
I recognized Avery Schreiber from Galaxina as soon as I saw him, so man did I laugh. Sadly, it was one of Dorothy Stratten's last movies before her murder.
How weird is it that in an episode which includes a Kelly/Screech romance, a true AI-capable robot, and a school principal falling for rumors of underage marriage, my biggest question upon first seeing this episode (back when the show was still on Peacock) was "How come Dr. Mertz only had one molecule hat available this late into the semester, when he should more than know who his students are and have prepared accordingly?" Was it just an oversight, or were they worried it would break the plot if someone noticed? Either way, I still think it would have been funny.
I think that's the beauty of these "good" episodes. So much hair-brained stuff going on, but you don't care because it's working. You laying it all out in text really puts into perspective how zany the plot actually is.
@@savedbythebelldeepdives ALF did appear on Saved By the Bell. Ahem it was the special Saturday Morning preview which NBC🦚only aired once which was when ALF made his only appearance. The episode isn't on DVD!🙋📺📼🕵
I think the ending strongly suggests Screech has autism. I think a "neurotypical" person would have thought that being on a date with Kelly would have been worthwhile even if they hated George Michael.
Beanie hat with windmill on top was already so antiquated by the time this aired. Obviously a 40 year old writer in the 1990s might conjure such nonsense.
@savedbythebelldeepdives right on. I also found the episode where you vaguely point it out based on a webpage or blog or something. IDK, I'm just here for the SBTB dives , your humor, and the random raps
Kelly being all wistful in Screech’s house is the greatest! 😂
We can all relate, right? Staring off into space just after leaving that special someone...?

It was a great flipping of the script.

Glad to have you along!
The whole door bit sequence in this video was perfect.😂 Timing is on point.
Oh good! It seems my obsession wasn't wasted.

Then again, Screech made Kevin. So is Kevin only nice because that's how he was designed...?

It is fun watching the two work together in later episodes.
the cantaloupe / melon head joke may be my favorite from the entire series. Proud to say I've forced that line into conversations more than once!
You should be proud. That's a niche thing to slip in. Very nice.
In the dream sequence, Zack and Slater portray nerds with thick glasses, high pants, and pocket protectors while Screech actually had none of those things.
It's like nerd inception. Nerdception. The show didn't portray nerds right in the real world, and the dream world only got more bizarre.
He was a geek, not a nerd.

Solid gold writing right there.

But only if Screech's parents are cool. We had a strict no-pizza-in-bedrooms policy in my house.
@@savedbythebelldeepdiveswell, we didn't have pizza delivery around here until I was out of school so I have no personal experience reference lol

Just another example of SBTB getting talent far too good for itself. And it's wonderful.

@@SuperMarioBrosIII Yup. This is covered in the special I released for "Who Shrunk Saturday Morning?"

My absolute pleasure! Happy holidays!

With as aloof as he can be, there could be something there. Do we give the writers that much credit...?
Makes sense to me. I’d go see Corey Feldman and his angels live if the hottest most popular girl in school asked me to go.
Screech was a hundred percent right. If your not compatible... don't force it.
(R.i.P)
@@peggymacmillan5069he had more in common with Kelly than with Lisa. They could have made things work out.

I had to look this reference up.
My comfort videos. Today sucked!
I got you.
My 10th grade biology teacher made the science fair project 40% of our grade for the 2nd semester 😢
Sounds like the devil.

Every now and then you get one of those gags that points to the writer's age.
why you so surprised screech mentioning Alf? Alf was a cultural phenomenon. I had the Alf doll/stuffed animal. my grandma knitted it outfits.
It's more the number of times. There were other shows that could have also got a name drop, but ALF was certainly the go-to nerdiest I guess.
Wait. So. Why "Shut Up Dustin Diamond"? Did I miss why, here? 🧐🤔
I'll dig more into this when I cover Dustin Diamond's book.
