'Parker Lewis Can't Lose' is the *real* TV version of 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'.
I never saw it. I hear it was quality programming.
I loved that show! I can’t believe someone else knew it besides my brother.
Love these. Keep 'em coming please.
On it!
As always, WELL DONE!
Thanks! Some good stuff is coming up with the 10th grade season.
I discovered the channel as I am watching the entire series with adult eyes. I just finished "Running Zack", and, well... can't wait 'til you get there.
Glad to have you! And the video for "Running Zack" is already in the can and it is a 22-minute doozy! Sadly, it won't release until July 1.
Full Native American headdress. In that episode, Zack only meets Chief Henry a couple times... You'd be sad if that person died, but he acted like it was his best friend for 10 years or something. IDK. Maybe it was just me being an insensitive jerk.... Yeah... I take SBTB way too seriously!
@@GMMBFans Nope, that is a completely valid observation. I do mention in the video how writers were kinda stuck perpetuating old stereotypes and insensitivities since they didn't have the same robust access to the internet we have now.
@@savedbythebelldeepdives yep. Love you man.
For some reason, even though the 2018 Shout Factory DVD set contained the edited, syndication version of this episode that runs 22:15, Amazon Prime Video has the full episode that runs about 23:30. However, it is missing Zack's voiceover line in the opening scene.
Unfortunately, all other episodes that had the syndicated version included on the Shout Factory set are still presented in edited form on Prime.
What an odd thing to leave out for the episode. Is it shown as the first episode of the season and therefore needs no voiceover?
@@savedbythebelldeepdives No, it's not the first episode shown.
Amazon Prime splits the show into 6 seasons instead of 4 like the Shout Factory set. The episodes are arranged much differently:
- "Good Morning, Miss Bliss" is considered season 1 while actual SbtB episodes are listed as seasons 2-6. The DVD set didn't count GMMB as a season of SbtB and split the SbtB episodes into 4 seasons rather than 5.
- Episodes that NBC held back and didn't air until later seasons (like "Screech's Birthday" and "Slater's Friend") are shown on Prime a lot closer to where they actually should have aired.
- On Prime, the 11 episodes with the Tori Scott character are listed as their own season (season 6). On the SF set, those episodes are paired together with Kelly/Jesse "senior year" episodes just like NBC aired them in 1992.
The opening scene to "King of the Hill" is also much longer in the 23:30 version. The camera pan to Zack in bed that starts the scene lasts longer. Also, rather than going to the next scene at Bayside after Zack gets dressed, his phone rings, and it's the same girl who had called to wake him up a few seconds earlier. In syndication, they added a "freeze frame" to cut to the next scene and removed the phone call entirely.
As far as the voiceover not being there, maybe it never aired on NBC and was only added for the syndicated version of the episode?
Sheesh, I wish I'd known about these differences back when I made the video. But at least you've got it logged here for us. Nice work.
Didn't every guy have a motorized device that would lower a life size picture of his girlfriend to eye level.
I don’t normally like to speak for everyone, but I’ll go ahead and say ‘no’. Most of the guys I knew just had the girlfriend in real life.
Max's oversized thumb gag at 4:11 always bothered me because it's obviously on backward!
How dare you critique with logic!
The gag was always unsettling. I think you just revealed why.
Belding's description of sync-swimmin' sounds like the greasiest group ever, have to skim for blobs and globs after
I think we can all agree that this comment is too real.
6:25
alls fair in love and war lol
The older I get, the more I question both points...
I noticed another error in this episode. Pause it at 8:13. Who is that picture in Mr. Belding's office. That's not Mrs. Belding.
Dennis Haskins famously sported things from his life in his office. I wouldn't be surprised if that was his mom.
Pilot episode it's like the 3rd time it was on tv
Kevin Roberts? Like from the classic SNL sketch?
Just a quick thought at 4:40, did you notice Kelly's soda had 2 straw's?
I did, but I didn't have anything novel to say about it. Another dig at Max being bad at his job? The presumption that Kelly would share her drink with Zack while relating that shirt-sticking-to-her-chest story?
I'd love to hear other theories.
W video
Thanks.
Where the hell did Slater's leather jacket go???
My theory: He preferred showing off his muscles in later episodes.
Man wait till season 4.. you will be pissed at how f***"ed the episode order it has.. I hated it so much that I made sure to try and make it the best order possible.
I'm already looking forward to TWO 9th grade episodes in that season. It's gonna get good.
Why don't I see the boom mics?
It's typically a subtle dip into the frame. I catch most of them during the editing process when I'm practically going frame-by-frame.
@@savedbythebelldeepdives thank you! I know with theatrical releases it depends on the projectionist lining things up properly but couldn't figure out how that subjectivity translated to the small screen 😅
F1RST!
You got so excited that you firsted twice!
@@savedbythebelldeepdives So exicted... so... scared!
@@savedbythebelldeepdives Also on SBTB The College Years Screech was much less annoying and more mellow. You may want to talk about this in a future post?🏫🔔📚👟
Did Parker Lewis break the fourth wall?
I never saw Parker Lewis. Maybe one day...
Yes the Ferris Bueller series was terrible
Someone brought it up on Reddit the other day, which reminded me that I'd seen the series three times for various projects I've worked on. It never got any better.
@@savedbythebelldeepdives
I like the one where they have to complete the history project.
I'd never heard of it before but just that quick clip he showed it looks awful.
It was I last saw it on TV Land in 1998 on The Wonders Of TV Land
