- Reviewing Season 1, Episode 9 of "Saved By the Bell" - Pinned to the Mat.
Slater doesn't want to take Career Week seriously, as he just wants to focus on wrestling. Well, until he quits to join a cooking class. Zack has a lot of money on the line if Slater doesn't wrestle and uses Screech to lure Slater back to the mat.

I'm baking a cay-yay-yay-yay-yay CAKE! I sing that every time I make a cake.
She was just a DE-LIGHT!
Schools can be rivals and in different counties. Back when I was in highschool in the mid 90s my school's rival was in the next county.
There were other schools in my county, but my school was the only 4A in the county and the next closest was in the neighboring county around 10 miles away.
That's a valid point.
The teachers at Bayside were something else. They had blind teachers, deaf teachers, singing teachers, inappropriate teachers, teachers that speak really fast, and Ben Stein rip offs. Going to school there must have been like going to the circus.
I can't imagine trying to balance my schedule between the crazy teachers and the (are there any?) sane teachers.
This is my favorite episode ever!!
It is so, so goofy.
oh no, I think you missed a good opportunity to show the "Vacation" video from Dirty Heads for the court scene with Mr. Belding.
I've got plans for that in a future Special.
@@savedbythebelldeepdives Sweet!
Jessie actually was a cheerleader, I dont know why she isnt in uniform for this episode.
Oh, there's a future episode where she says she wouldn't be caught dead cheerleading...
@@savedbythebelldeepdives Jessie you hypocrite!
Or they just had inconsistent writing.
@@Shorty_Lickens I think we can hang our hats on the inconsistency...
Jessie was not a cheerleader in the earlier seasons. There is an episode where she becomes a cheerleader for some reason despite her feminism and then she is one from then on.
@@BradyBurrell I think to have another extracurricular that she could put on college applications was the reason.
I hope you’ll do a special episode highlighting all the teachers we meet at bayside in the future
I try to cover the big ones. Let me know if there is one I miss that you’d like to see.
He said "fighting his batters" As in cake batter. It was either a clever pun or that's just how the words swirled around Screech's head due to his perma trip.
There are so few true clever puns in the world. I refuse to give one to Needick!
you can tell Mario Lopez actually wrestled, crazy
They incorporated a lot of their real interests into the show.
he said "fighting your batters... lol
I seriously wonder sometimes if they just do one take and call it good enough.
Wait... Belding went to a Catholic school? But wasn't he a DJ at Bayside for the radio station?
Yeah, about that. Uh, he transferred schools? Uh, Bayside used to be a Catholic school? Uh, the writers write whatever they want and we're supposed to just accept it? Great catch!
Slater in the future is a Pro Wrestler
The fact that he stays in the game so long is just a testament to how good he was.
Sister Agnus kept blocking his layups 🤣
That's a great visual!
What about the chocolate? Eggs, butter, milk, flour and then it turns into a magical oversized brownie or whatever that was
Television magic, my friend! We're bakin' a cake!
they had a wrestling match.
WHERE ARE THEIR TEAMMATES AND COACHES?!
Where indeed.
In Maryland we have county championships. Also the ref is behind the cheerleaders getting hyped.
I just wonder why there are no other adults in the gym and why the ref lets Nedick swing Screech around like that.
I know we have another wrestling-centric episode coming up. I wonder if they still reference county meets or if it will turn to regionals or even something else.
Absolutely have county championships.
8:31, actually at the end of the episode they all come to their senses and realize how silly they were acting
This could be used for many of the episodes.
Cherries Jubilee has booze in it. No wonder Bayside is always a party.
That must be why Mrs. Cummings was a blast to be around.
Ah, finally! Something good to watch after work.
There's also Rick and Morty, but I'll welcome the views!
This narrator sounds like Steve's best friend from "American Dad"
I never got into that show, but I'm going to assume that this means that my voice conveys a machismo that also comes off as approachable and sincere, but belies the threat of stealing your girl if you turn your back for a second. I'm sure that's what you meant.
@savedbythebelldeepdives lol. Exactly what I meant.
Love your content. Thank you
lower weight class can fight higher weight class but a high weight class cant wrestle a lower weight class
Yikes. I can't imagine trying to wrestle up a weight class.
@@savedbythebelldeepdives I wrestled up a weight class in high school. I wrestled in the 190 lb weight and regularly wrestled up in the 215 lb weight.
@@savedbythebelldeepdives The weight classes tend to be six or seven pounds apart, so bumping up one is not that big of a deal. I did it all the time in high school, but a kid Screech's size would never wrestle a kid as big as Nerd Dick. Also ... in four years of wrestling, we encountered cheerleaders exactly once. It was pretty weird.
How does that work? If the lower class is wrestling the higher class, then wouldn't the higher class be wrestling the lower class too?
@@1981lashlarue uh, that. That's not what it means. Um yeah, it basically what that means is. The higher weight class can't challenge a lower weight class right, but a lower weight class can challenge a higher weight class
I really don’t know how I get here
But we are so glad to have you. (I'm guessing it was the thumbnail.)
Suplexes are illegal in high school wrestling
But maybe legal for this one-off, unsanctioned match?
