He wanted BTS to sing the Song Originally doing BE days, the amount of trust he has to the members that he wanted them to sing about his Trauma, is just heartwarming.

What makes me emotional is not just only the trauma. He portrays the fact that he will have sudden nightmares that bring it all back, and he wants to tuck it away. Most likely he will live with those nightmares most of his life when the memories creep out again.
He said in his documentary that working on Amygdala caused a lot of mood swings. So brave.
    This is a masterpiece.

I'm so grateful that he trusts us enough to share his vulnerability. It takes a lot of courage and bravery to show yourself like this to one person let alone millions of people. I'm glad he's stated that he's a lot happier and is healing. Thank you for the reaction 💜

Yoongi said this was hard to write and that amygdala was the part of the brain that stores trauma or fear in the latest episode of suchwita. I'm just extremely grateful that he put this out for everyone to see. Thank you for the reaction as always.

People with PTSD have the same issues with their amygdala. Not being able to process emotion and trauma properly. People who suffer with PTSD in multiple forms would understand this mv straight off. Its the whole process of nightmares vs flashbacks. Flashbacks being more of a process for PTSD sufferers. I have Complex PTSD and hyperviligence so i understand this mv with all its little nuances. I respect Yoongi so much that hes been able to be so open with these issues.

I'm glad that you pointed this out because the mv really shows what ptsd feels like. I also have ptsd (3 years ago, suprisingly the same with Yoongi's experiences shown in the mv) and still experiencing it to this day, nightmares of death/running late or out of time, it causes me a lot of mood swings and sudden aggressive behavior which I feel really bad whenever this happens, and physical pain such as chest pains, headaches, and my vision getting blurry. So seeing Yoongi finally letting out his traumas from his past made it less painful for me to understand myself. I'm grateful for him and even though I actually love him, amygdala made me even love him more and I don't think I'm ever going to leave him.

Likewise here, but thankfully continuing to make progress. I know it's never going to be fully gone, but the more I can integrate my trauma the more I can move it from that short term survival to long term fully connected so I've been remembering it more and more and reliving it less and less.

the freedom of expression line in haegeum rly hit me hard bc of everything going on in the states right now. like ppl rly don't realize there's a difference between freedom of expression and the freedom to commit violent (verbal and physical) acts and mask it as freedom of expression... ur so right when u said our world is going backwards and all we can do is sit and laugh in disbelief

As a multi-stan who is Army first and foremost, I would like to invoke the words trail blazers with regard to Suga and BTS. Because they have risen to the heights that they have in the music industry they now have the power to speak their truths. They are no longer bound by the usual "idol" rules. The beauty of this is that perhaps by being this raw and allowing themselves to show what lies behind the glitz and glamour of the industry they can help those who come behind them. I am so proud of Suga. I also truly believe his Grammy may be on it's way.

I think the trilogy is about slowly recovering from trauma... the Amydala MV explains the key to understanding the other two MVs, in that it shows that the scar is a mark of a character that is acting on their trauma - Yoongi has been slowly healing over the years. In Daechwita (D-2), he replaced "blond Agust D" from the first mixtape (he was blond for the MVs he released in 2016), who was a king who ruled out of anger... in Haegeum, a new Yoongi who DOESN'T have a scar, he's healed from his trauma - or at least has learned how to have it not continue to hurt him any more by self-inflicting wounds in response to it - and Haegeum Yoongi replaces D-2 Yoongi whose scar is old but still there, and is ruling in a civil manner but perhaps too caught up in the flexing aspect (the fancy suit, the slick image). I think Haegeum is the end on a note of Yoongi being free, and living the way he wants. Amygdala is needed to explain that key though - what Yoongi had to go through mentally to get to that point.
The fact that he's sharing this with us, to me, means that he's reached a healthy place where he feels strong and recovered enough to share the story. Even if he can't put a firm happy ending on it, because you can't do that with mental struggles - in the latest episode of Suchwita, he even tells RM that he gets low every 2-3 years, but has learned how to handle it better as time has passed, and now RM thinks he's the most positive person on the team. Really, Yoongi is absolutely amazing. I love him so much and he deserves all the hugs in the world.
I know you still have so many mixtapes to listen to - but I think you'll absolutely love the D-Day album. Especially Snooze, which features Woosung from The Rose. I hope you get a chance to listen eventually!

This song and the mv had me in a chokehold. Not only did Yoongi's acting get MUCH better (and he was already literally a pro), but the entire cinematography backs it up. The song is a banger, no doubt. Haegeum is a traditional instrument, but it also means release from prohibition. The mv is so fascinating. In Daechwita, he killed the blond Agust D because he was too corrupt with anger and resentment. Agust D couldn't take it anymore. But in Haegeum the Agust D scar ended up as corrupted as the blonde Agust D. It's interesting that the new Agust D basically started the mv by killing a person and ending with the memory of it. Agust D is a trilogy because Yoongi was finally able to unite with Suga and Agust D. They are no longer apart because he learned to embrace all of his feelings. In this MV, the new Agust D. is a vigilante and violent villain because that's what Agust D is. But instead of just killing the scarred Agust D, who in this narrative, is a corrupt secret agent, (as happened to the blonde Agust D), he ALSO burned the money scar that Agust D had. My interpretation is that this whole mv revolves around FREE SPEECH, which may not be correct. 🤣. Finally, cheers to SUGA for yet another unique work of art.👏❤

I saw how the meds after became almonds in the MV, and I remember that in the book 'Almond' (that he read at the In The Soop) the protagonist was told to eat almonds to get his amygdala to work properly and that detail blow my mind

Although sometimes seeing his MVs and reading his lyrics are hard, because I never want to think about him in pain, I truly feel that him being able to express himself through his music is how he is able to process and navigate through his struggles. Sometimes I think celebrities feel they always have to show a happy face, even when they’re struggling, which I don’t feel is healthy mentally. I am grateful Yoongi and the other members feel safe enough to put their raw emotions out there. Even if what they show us is just a fraction of what they are feeling, I think it helps both them and us get through this shit show that is life sometimes. Thank you BTS, Anitra, and Caitlyn for always making me feel like I am a part of your lives even just a little bit. Borahae💜💜

for those of us who know yoongi's background and history, it really makes me emotional to see him trusting us with his vulnerability. in a way, amygdala is the end & the beginning of the agust d trilogy. its the birth of the alter ego symbolic of the scar and his way of saying that even though his past hurts will never go away and he won't be able to forget his memories, (his other self being stuck in the room of rain=amygdala), he survived it all and he's at peace with it. he's accepted himself as yoongi/suga/agust d. he's at a point in his life where the inner conflict has merged and become just one person.

Amygdala is such a brave and beautiful and important song and music video.
Trauma affects the amygdala. The amygdala is also connected to the limbic system. The effects of trauma and the amygdala triggers the body's fight, flight, or freeze response. When someone gets PTSD from a traumatic event, that fight, freeze response kicks in when something triggers it like a memory or a nightmare.
Clearly this song means SO much to me. Yoongi's lyrics, "Save me from here, hurry and get me out quickly." remind me of times when I get stuck in my own PTSD symptoms. Sometimes I literally feel trapped by my own body.
I'm not insinuating that Yoongi has PTSD or anything. I'm just saying that, as someone in the process of healing from traumatic events, the accuracy and honesty of this song and MV mean the world to me.
    This song is so important.

the black room is a trap of bad memories that Yoongi can't get out of. lives the tragedies of the past, as in Groundhog Day. the scar Suga inflicted on himself was the Suga who was stuck in the memory. and continues to hurt himself, not finding the strength in himself to learn from the past and free himself from the black room.
Suga's words from the film Road to D Day about Amigdala:
"I wanted to tell you how I got a scar over my eye from DAECHWITA and Haegeum. in a sense, we ourselves are responsible for our scars and wounds. from the first arrow of trouble you cannot dodge. but when the second arrow flies at you, you just stand there and wait for the blow. because you didn't learn the lessons the first time."
Тhis means that when Suga immerses himself in the sad moments of the past again and again, it is tantamount to how he's doing the scar on his eye himself. in a figurative sense.
therefore we are shown a repetition of the scene of the accident with the car and then the knife in the hands of Suga in Amigdala.
so we have a trilogy. in DAECHWITA two Suga's with the scars fighting each other. In Haegeum, Suga tries to kill his alter ego. In Amigdala, on the contrary, he's tries to save himself.
these are all the experiences that tormented Min Yoongi. inner struggle with oneself. attempts to destroy and kill oneself / attempts to save and healing oneself.

The fact that he couldn't open the door at the end i think means that we can not change the past or erase our memories, they will always be there....but what we can do is, like he said, try our first best choice, if that doesn't work out try our second best choice than third and so on until we can eventualy bloom like a lotus flower💜 Don't ever give up! Yoongi is the best example of that, i love him so much. And i love you and this reaction is one of my favourite. You really try and soak up everything that is presented. We watch because we want to hear others thoughts and opinions not to watch someone sit for 4 minutes staring at the music video, plenty of those are on the youtube. Borahae💜💜💜

26:30 : You're right. Hoseok said something similar in his verse in UGH!
Yoongi in HAEGEUM : Freedom of expression, could be reason for somebody's death
Hoseok in UGH! : Someone's rage becomes someone's life
31:52 Nope. It wasn't the goldfish in the bag. It was tangerines 😂
55:45 : AMYGDALA does come from a Greek word and that's Αμύγδαλο ( Amiythalo ) not Amygdale. I'm Greek I'm sorry, just wanted to say it. 💜
51:28 When Yoongi is singing the line " Mom's heart surgery " he keeps repeating the last syllable he said. He basically said 엄마 심장의 수술 ( 술 술 술 술 ). 수술 ( susul ) means heart surgery, but 술 ( sul ) by itself means alcohol... Impling that, at that hard time, he was drinking a lot...
I'll be crying to Amygdala for a long time... It's just too much... ❤️‍🩹💔💜
Now that, according to Yoongi, the trilogy of the Agust D with the scar is completed with AMYGDALA, I have a theory. I believe that Agust D started at AMYGDALA, since we found out that that's when the scar was made by him. I think that that broken part of him, in order to move on, had to be left behind. So I think that the Agust D of AMYGDALA died in that dark place. Then in DAECHWITA, the King is killed by the Agust D that became the Police Chief in HAEGEM. Who was then killed by that "new" guy that doesn't have a scar. I believe that the Agust D from the AMYGDALA, kept involving to the king then to the police chief and finally to the guy without the scar. The more scarred version of his got killed everytime by his more healed one. The reason why this trilogy is over is, I think, because his scars of his past are healed and he's now truly happy, away from that dark place... At least I hope... He went through so much. He deserves to be happy with his 6 brothers 💜
Thank you so much for this trilogy reaction. I'm sorry for being late, I was just waiting for 24 hours since Amygdala MV's release to watch reactions of this song and MV 💜

So I saw a lady on TikTok talking about this video and this was just her opinion. She said that in the first video he calls himself the king and the boss and at the end he kills the boss. Then in the second he is portrayed as a boss and kills the boss as well. She said that Yoongi said this was the last Agust D album. I'm not sure if that's true or not but her theory is that he's saying that he's killed off those two sides that make Agust D and now he's free to be just Suga because he doesn't have anything left that he feels has to prove. So I thought that was an interesting thought on what it might mean.

  • @zizi-k

Remember in Daechwita where we had the meat seller who was also the executioner and was actually on Agust D (the regular man's version's) side. There was a part in the video where the regular Agust D acknowledges the man with a nod while at the market. So from then on or at least in hindsight we knew that man had his back.
In Haegeum, the man who is 'drowning' him is actually the same man whose life he spared after he ended that other guy with the chopsticks. He was the guy on the phone calling the cops or his boss and this version of Agust D (regular guy - just to differentiate from the police chief) nodded at him and left him. The man isn't actually drowning him but it's a whole plan to make it look like torture (bear it once to make it appease the boss) and then I'm gonna push you in a bit further to reach the gun. It was a whole set up. So either the man was thankful that he was spared and turned to the regular guy's side. Or he could've been his inside man from the start. Yeah he had to call the boss/police because it would so fishy if he didn't. But that's how we play the game.

Yoongi is a freaking genius, and this set of videos hit mind and heart and soul. He's speaking absolute truth in "Haegeum" and "Amygdala" is a more personal kind of truth. As someone with a very dark past and PTSD as a result, I can completely understand. I'm blown away by his work, and I love the story he tells. (Especially the "Daechwita" reincarnated souls.)
If Yoongi doesn't star in an action/crime thriller someday, there is no justice in the world.

Very interesting that you did all 3 MVs, as per Yoongi's recommendation. I really like what you had to say about each one. For me, every time I see Haegeum, I'm sooo impressed with his acting. Absolutely spectacular from beginning to end. How he embodies both characters, all the nuances, etc. Amygdala is so touching and I also hope making it was healing for him. I love how you caught the detail of the almonds, btw. I think that the fact the room doesn't have walls may mean he's self-imposing being in that space, that he doesn't actually need to feel imprisoned there because it's all open after all? Thank you. This was a highlight in my day

You were spot on in your explanation of Amygdala. The amount of trust Yoongi has in telling his story of where he has been and what he has struggled through and the healing he has gone through to get to where he is today. I have watched the mv myself and a few others, and I have cried every time to Amygdala, and you are the only person who has had this point of view of the song, and that is greatly appreciated.
This song is also very personal to me as well because for over 20 years, I struggled with something that happened to me when I was just a kid. I can relate to Yoongi in the sense that while the memories and flashbacks are painful and make us feel like we are stuck in the darkness of them, we can overcome them.
This song, Amygdala, was the perfect song I needed to hear, and to hear your explanation was amazing. Don't ever stop.

Thanks again for another honest reaction. The main thing that this song/vid said to me - It was a reminder that these pop stars still deal with things that everyone deals with. We so often covet their fame, money, status...but we don't see the stuff going on behind the camera. While I'm a huge fan of their music and vids, I don't follow the online shows or docs, so I knew nothing about the things Suga mentioned in the song. He let us tap into a part of his life that is painful and I think this song will not only help him but so many of us who also are dealing with trauma or extremely difficult situations in life.

Haegeum - "Freedom of expression can be the cause of someone's death"
Ugh - "You're allowed to be angry, but bothering someone else's life, I don't like it." and "Someone's anger becomes another's life"
I'm not sure if this is what you're referring to unless it's a different song.
So from Haegeum we know that people overstep their boundaries and think because they have freedom of speech, they can say anything they want but not consider that these can have detrimental consequences. If I'm linking it to Ugh, anger itself, is a form of expression and yes, we are free to express it but some take it too far.

I like all 3 songs, obviously last one is very emotional and I'm sure everyone got emotional. I always thought that Suga is a strong person, an introvert and a fighter so him doing this showing his sensitive side is his way to show us his vulnerability so I can only appreciate it. Each song has deep meaning but the last one is more personal I guess. By the way Amigdala in romanian means tonsil(but with i not y). I think that in first two songs: Daechwita and Hwegeum he show us the cruel reality while in the last one he show us his vulnerability and his fears.

A few thoughts “I don’t know your name.” Suga, August D, Min Yoongi? The first 2 MVs he was trying to kill off a part of himself so he can become someone new and fulfill his dreams. The last MV he’s trying to save himself, because he realizes his experiences are all valuable and necessary. The trauma, struggle, and suffering are all pieces of the person he is today. He wants to save himself by accepting himself as a whole person. To put ALL of the pieces together, move past the trauma and become whole.

In this trilogy i interpret it this way: In Daechwita the lower class version of himself kills the one obsessed with succeeding and accumulating wealth to prove haters wrong. In Haegum the black haired version of himself from Daechwita with scar symbolizes that even though he does not strives for success to prove haters wrong, by just existing and being successful he is still imprisoned by capitalism and the working of our current world. The black haired version of himself without scar is freeing himself from conforming to the norm. In Amygdala you see the origin of the scar and how it represents hurt and trauma and how it forms you and can cripple your growth. He shows that after freeing himself from the need to prove himself to others (daechwita) and societal norms (Haegum) he is now addressing his inner demons and hurt in amygdala. I have nothing but respect for how he allows us to witness his personal journey.

31:48 the ya ya sample is from What Do You Think on D-2. I wonder why he didn't add that to the "refresher course" for people to reference for this song? The lyrics keep hitting bells in my head with their parallels. I need to look at those lyrics side by side!
What i remember is the English beginning of RM's verse that just touches on the control of the state:
"You think you got taste; oh baby how do you know? I mean for god's sake, everyone under control."

@SayWhatReacts - Anitra - THANK YOU for your reaction. Genuine and heartfelt as always. I have been thinking of you a lot lately and hope that you and Brian are keeping well. Maybe I will catch you on a live one day soon. Take care of you - hugs.
Comment on the Amygdala MV (if you will indulge me). In my view, not that it's right.... So why is Amygdala the last video in the trilogy? Because this is where it begins and how AgustD (the King, the top Cop) was created. The scene with where he has the box cutter to his face and gives himself the scar over his eye, a metaphor of the scars of traumatic memories from life that propelled him to chase music, to work day and night to succeed - because at first he had to. He HAD to succeed because he had his mom's and dad's health and costs to take care of. Yes, music was a passion, but there was always more in the driving force behind his Big Hit / BTS journey; and now, the time has come where (2nd video) because he has achieved and reached the point where he can take care of his parents without worry, he now can finally be free to be himself without having to wear another persona to make it through the day, through life, through his emotions, through working for BTS's success. He can finally be Min Yoongi.
I so much appreciate Min Yoongi sharing his most deepest emotional struggles with us. I hope his message will help anyone else who has faced trauma or emotional upheaval. There were a lot of messages like: Time to let it go. Do not let the pain and trauma of the past rob you of the beautiful life awaiting you. You are so much more than the past. Use the past trauma and pain as tools to push forward, live the moment and live life. Many (if not all of us) have or will face challenges in life and may experience moments in life that are traumatic enough to re-shape who we our and steer us off course from our soul's purpose/learning path. The trauma and its' fears are not what we are here in life to accomplish. We're here to find the parts of life that makes our soul and heart sing with joy. As Yoongi depicted, as hard as the battle may be, we must find a way to face those traumas and fears head on, take control of them (rather than they controlling and distorting us) and instead use them as tools to strengthen us going forward to live life boldly, to the fullest and most importantly, back to joy.

  • @natashafancher6280
    @natashafancher6280 ปีที่แล้ว

The Yoongi in "Amygdala" is the first iteration, where he suffered trauma; the scar on his face is fresh and bloody. In the "Agust D" mv, Yoongi first appears as his alter ego Agust D (blond), who is angry and hungry for success; the scar has healed somewhat from "Amygdala," but is still red and raw. In "Daeschwita," Yoongi mentioned that he no longer wanted to be the angry version of himself as a teenager, so the more "real" version of himself/Agust D (dark hair, scar more healed) kills the old Agust D (blond), who got the success he wanted and became tyrannical. The final iteration of Yoongi is seen in "Haegeum." The 2nd iteration of Agust D became corrupted (like a dirty cop) over time (scar is almost gone), becoming another version of himself that he didn't want to be, so the final Agust D finally frees himself (scar fully healed, acting with freedom without restraint) by killing the 2nd iteration that had become corrupted.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction(Amygdala), ty. Such a good song. Pls pause as much as u want. I love hearing your thoughts. This is my fav song from his album. My 2nd fav is Snooze. I love all the songs though. But these for some reason made me feel more. When i heard this for the 1st time i smiled. This MV speaks his truth. I am glad Suga talked about it more. I think the more u speak about it the easier it gets as the years pass. I am sorry he went through so much. I am sad he did not reach the door. I think this song is tricky. I think the MV enhanced the song a lot for me. Good visuals. Loved the feels. I am an empath so i take it in. Suga was sharing his trauma, his painful memories right. I was not aware his mom had heart surgery or that his dad battled cancer. I wonder if his bike accident occured in the same year as everything else. We know Suga survived it was a miracle. Yoongi dealt with so much pain for so long. We were all so glad he finally had the shoulder surgery. They are so strong all of them. They are our strength and we theirs. Hugs tight Anitra. I was finally able to cry for him at last. My therapist said I am not afraid of death. I faced my death already dealing with cancer. So his truth was not that shocking to me. But still I wanted to cry for him because he can't. Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army 💟

I love Yoongis music so so much, his lycris, his mv's, the hiding meaning in the small details. He shared so much with us, really personal stuff. Amygdala is one of my favorite songs, just alone of the emotions it lets you feel. I myself suffer from trauma and ptsd so I can somewhat realite to the meaning of the song. I just hope that Yoongi is doing better about it now tho! 💜
This is about the storyline that I thought interesting:
Did he give the scar to himself? If yes, that would be an very intersting detail in the storyline.
While in Daechwita and Haegeum the other Agust d kills both times the Agust d at the top, with the scar. But in Amygdala the other agust d trys to save the agust d with the scar. So maybe instead of 'killing' his emotions, his other self, he tried to save himself by accepting his emotions, his trauma and moving on with it. Because the only person to save you is yourself? (Just my theory lmao )
