Passers-by pass by because they have other places to be. Buskers know full well that they are performing in public spaces where people are going about their business. Some people are just numb to street musicians. They’re just a part of the whole vibe of the neighborhood. At the end of this video, there was applause, and hopefully a few coins in the hat and a like or two for her video.

Canned Heat is not the original artists. This is probably almost 100 years old. They stole it.
@@Irideonandon , they didn’t “steal” it. They thought it was in the public domain when they released their version in all likelihood. The whole concept of their band was to introduce old blues standards to a new generation. They would not have given credit for “On the Road Again” to blues legend Floyd Jones had they wanted to steal credit.
@@straycatttt2766 yes, they didn't steal it in a legal sense. I meant they took someone else's creation and presented it as their own. To me, thats stealing but because of copyright laws it was legal. Can you tell me where to find evidence that they ever gave credit(on a large, public scale) to the original artistic genius?
@@Irideonandon I only found credit given to the original artistic genius for “On the Road Again.” I concede that I found no credit given to the original artistic genius for this follow-up hit song. As I previously commented, I also find it inconsistent why they would credit one genius for one song but not credit a different genius for a different song. My opinion is that their motive was not to lay unethical claim to the entire work as their own for one song but not the other.
Indeed, but for Canned Heat, one could state that our current debate never would have existed. It is conceivable that no subsequent band would have revived this tune from the ashes of history. The fact that they revived it amounted to a cultural benefit for latter generations from the 1960’s to the present.
Singer Alan Wilson lived for reviving praise for the old blues masters. Wilson was a blues geek and despised stardom for himself.
He personally resurrected the career of the alcoholic blues legend Son House. Blues legend John Lee Hooker did a double-album with Wilson, believing that the white boy was a sincere blues aficionado. Canned Heat were a bunch of scrubs performing in thrift store clothes, not seeking royalties to steal credit from anyone.
Looking in hindsight, they made a mistake artistically and ethically by not attributing credit. Perhaps they felt that the lyrics change and/ or copyright expiration time period rendered it okay to put their own name on it. Wilson probably would apologize for the modern-day perceived slight if he were alive today. His goal in life was to celebrate blues history, not to misappropriate it.
