Canned Heat, who were early blues enthusiasts, based "Going Up the Country" on "Bull Doze Blues", recorded in 1928 by Texas bluesman Henry Thomas.Thomas was from the songster tradition and had a unique sound, sometimes accompanying himself on quills, an early Afro-American wind instrument similar to panpipes. He recorded "Bull Doze Blues" in Chicago on June 13, 1928, for Vocalion Records. That original rendition is available in You Tube.
Saw them at La Vida in Brea, CA, in the mid 90s. I know the faces have changed, but they put on a great show that night! La Vida in Carbon Canyon in Brea has been closed over 20 years, but the memories remain. Always a fan! 🤘🥃
Eu fico imaginando o BACALHAU baterista do ULTRAGE A RIGOR espancando a bateria como ele faz no show acústico deles aqui no Brasil. Kkkkkkkkkk Muito bom o som
Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson died in 1970. Wilson was found dead in his sleeping bag on the hillside behind fellow group member and fellow lead singer, Bob "The Bear" Hite's Topanga Canyon home where he often slept. He was 27 years old. An autopsy identified his manner and cause of death as accidental acute barbiturate intoxication. On April 5, 1981, during a break between sets at The Palomino Club in North Hollywood, Hite was handed a vial of heroin by a fan. He snorted it and fell into a coma, after which others unsuccessfully attempted to revive him with a large dose of cocaine. A group of roadies put Hite in a van and drove him to bandmate Fito de la Parra's home, where he died at 38 years old.

Who took pictures at the Canned Heat show in the Seattle Center?
El unico sobreviviente de esa banda que actuo en Woodstock es el baterista: Fito de la Parra
Not quire the same without the flute. But good to hear in 2023.
Did original lead singer pass away a few years ago?

Really Woodstock theme.

Yes! Fito de la Parra on drums.
