You're right they blend all the genres into something amazing - and every song has different vibes, but still a very distinct "Dirty Loops sound". Great reaction! And I use their music for all kinds of situations - running, dancing, in the car, cleaning, relaxing - I always try to get people to play one of their tracks at parties (my friends are probably a bit tired of me because I do it every single time)! 😂

Great band, genre benders - everyone a virtuoso - life affirming positive songs that well should be know to wider audiences, their latest "Run Away" just blows any concept of how things "should be" - out of the water

If you do their new song “Run Away”, first new release in a couple of years, you will experience Henrik everything but laidback. He’s in the center of the song and does some stuff almost never heard before. The whole song was an unexpected turn even for Dirty Loops..
They just finished an extensive tour of the US so you missed to see them live, but you can watch for example Stratele Studios video about their LA gig, great watch.

Dirty Loops is actually from 2050 and they're just visiting our timeline to tease us folks stuck here.
Their credits always slay me for the little gems. Plus they slay everything else musically.

Thanks Zack - another DL track! It's a given that these 3 guys have so much depth of talent, but I really love the funk-jazz-gospel... and whatever else is mixed in there. 😎☮
EDIT: if you want to see come amazing brass thrown into the mix, check out Follow the Light. It's a collab with Cory Wong and of course, it's amazing.

No one has mentioned how much Aron looks like Edward Norton… or is that just me?
With that said, these guys kill it every time… EVERY time.
i am continually impressed with the level of talent these three display on EVERY track.

I imagine Henrik (bass) playing as though he's jealous Jonah and aron have that chemistry and he's trying to get their attention and bond

    Fun reaction ✌️
Dirty Loops are a Swedish trio, one of the best.
And yes, Simon Petrén, their sound, mixing and mastering engineer, is one of the best too.
Contrary to what the video looks like, all of the vocals are done by Jonah.
There is a fun story in Bass Magazine Songified! from an interview with Henrik, where he explains the making of this and other songs.
The genre bending thing: someone said that Dirty Loops put every genre there is, into a blender, whizz it all up and then press Stop at exactly the right moment ;)
And oh ya, throw film/gaming music, classical music and RnB into that blender as well 😉
Also as a general rule, their credits are worth checking out for the occasional funny thing in there….
Loved your appreciation and analysis of this song.
It’s so feel-good, I listen to it on every car trip since I got given their Phoenix CD ✌️🤘🤟✌️
Next up could be their cover of MJ’s “Thriller” in a collab with rhythm guitarist Cory Wong, or their earlier stuff from their 2014 album ‘Loopified’.
    It’s all INSANE 🔥🔥🔥

Yes, the sound engineer is also a virtuoso. I am especially impressed by the drum sound. It must cost money to record it but absolutely critical to the mix

Yeah, you certainly cannot put them in a box genre-wise, and all their songs are different from each other in some way. To me this song screams of Toto. Crazily enough they are just as good live, and if you ever get a chance to see them, go for it.
Aron isn't really singing on this recording; it's just for show in the video. In their early days both Henrik and Aron sang backing vocals sometimes when they played live, together with the auxiliary keyboard player they have with them on gigs, but afaik "Rock You" is the only recording they actually sing backup vocals on. The backing vocals are normally all Jonah. Henrik said the following about writing and recording this song, in an interview in Bass Magazine:
Bass Magazine: “Next to You” has a cool, halftime-shuffle feel and a gospel choir component.
Henrik: "That song took forever to write. Aron and I wrote the chorus in 2016. We found it in a drawer and tried a bunch of new verses with it until we got the right one. Then at the last minute, Aron wrote the gospel choir parts. He sent a very funny demo in which he marked where all the different gospel parts come in and what kind of voice they had. When Jonah recorded them, he had a chalkboard with all the different characters in the choir, and he distorted his voice to match each character and so none of them would sound like him. The groove has our typical, swung-funk, triplet feel, but the key is the Bootsy funk formula of having a heavy one to make all the subdivisions after it work. Aron wrote the chorus bass line, which is keyboard bass-like, and it worked best with a combination of fingers and slapping."
They produce everything themselves, together with a guy named Simon Petrén, and the one doing all their video editing is Aron.

They come from Stockholm, Sweden, and have known each other for quite some time, and studied together. Henrik and Aron practiced crazy hours back then, crazy!
There are a lot of good songs by Dirty Loops, and Dirty Loops and Cory Wong, but I suggest the next song should be "Run Away", that came out this year. You analyze well, and that can come in handy for "Run away". It seems somewhat easy to categorize for each one listening to it, but it seems to fall in different categories with each person anyhow. And then there is the fourhanded split beast baldly doing what maybe no-one has done before him. It's very unlike Dirty Loops, but you seldom can guess what you will get with these guys.

I’d you want Loops with brass check out Follow the Light where Henrik kills it. To see him murder though check out newest song Run Away where he is the Eddie Van Halen of bass.

Nowadays there is a bit of an MJ vibe in Henrik's voice but when I listened to their debut album back in the day I always compared him to Stevie Wonder. I'ld say, the tone of his voice is more MJ but the style of singing is more Stevie. With all the runs and the soul.

There's no double bass. He does all of that with one foot. This is all 4/4 time. Though, the shuffle could be written as 12/8.
