Hey Petra, thanks a bunch for lending your ear to these guys. Big fan of Dirty Loops here, and you’ve mentioned so many interesting points. One was about the buildup upon buildup, and that makes total sense to me. Yesterday I listened again to their first album Loopified, and I think it’s fair to say that even back then, they knew how to stack buildups… Also using harmonic changes and percussive and other sound effects to enhance them. And if you can listen full tilt on a car stereo :) you can appreciate Aron building rhythmically with the most insane rhythmic intricacies. He in turn has written lots of Henrik’s bass lines, and so they complement what he does on the drums… Hence maybe the name ARON written on Henrik’s extra hand in the beginning 😉 It’s mindblowing stuff, all of it 🔥 Oh yeah, and you might be familiar with Simon Petrén, their mixing/mastering engineer. He is nuts too. One thing though, and I might’ve misunderstood you, this track wasn’t recorded live-. If there’s anything from Dirty Loops you haven’t heard yet, please consider reacting to it. I appreciate your input, it’s been interesting 👍 Thanks 🙏
You’re welcome, and thank you for your recommendation! I certainly learned s lot listening to these amazing musicians. I haven’t noticed the Aron on the hand, that’s a cool little detail. I will certainly listen to them more, and maybe cover more on this channel, too :) I know it wasn’t recorded live, in fact in the Rick Beato interview they said that they record separately in their homes and Jonah puts it together in a DAW. What I was thinking is that during this video recording, they played as if they were on a concert, so ‘played the whole thing live’.
Hey Petra, thank you for your reaction. It looked like you recorded the reaction twice. First time watching the song uninterrupted, second time giving your analysis. If so, THANK YOU! Basically All reactors interrupt their first reactions by asking questions (which a lot of times answering themselves during the song) or analysing right off the bat. In my eyes this process destroys all of the pacing and momentum the song tries to build. A big part of the emotional punch is lost. Imagine watching a movie and pausing every 20 minutes to talk about the making of process. I know, it's a lot of work but we can see and feel the difference, and we're absoultely here for it. All the best
I did exactly that! Thanks for appreciating ❤️ I really try to give more than just an initial expression, especially because I always have new things to note during the second and third listening! ✨
Enjoyable analysis...thank you! Out of character for DL, but just a fun, summer song bringing me back to the 80s, with splashes of their musical brilliance.
Entertaining and interesting analysis. I believe the visuals of this video are a pastiche of 'stadium rock', 'Boy Band', and 'guitar hero'. Aron's transparent drum kit, pink headband, pink 'tights', and 'muscle-T-shirt' (with 'Dirty Loops', in a Rock-Band font) is an homage to stadium rock. I don't know who leaned back so far to drum (at 7:52), but I'm certain it's a reference. Jonah has _all_ the 'Boy Band' dance moves down pat. He's also adding to the 'stadium rock' vibe with his dual, banked 'keyboard god' set up. Finally, Henrick is performing the 'Van Halen', 'Steve Vie' 'guitar god' element. The light are insanely good. Turn the sound off, and it's just as keenly observed, as a '"Weird Al" Yankovic video, and just as funny. Henrik's extra arms are a nod to the joke about him being so good he 'must be alien'. AFAIK, few/no Dirty Loops 'in-studio' music videos are live. However, there are several fan recordings of DL playing this live, eg. _Dirty Loops - Run Away LIVE Chicago 2024_ th-cam.com/video/GQ-10BiiPPA/w-d-xo.html (4m:16s) It's pretty close. Also, AFAICT, backing vocals are often all Jonah. Judging from clips, you've seen "Follow the Light". If not, that song is great. I enjoy Grace Kelly's "stank face" reaction to Henrick's funky bass. I am a big fan of horn sections, so their cover of "Thriller" with Cory Wong and some of Prince's "Hornheads" is glorious. Among their own compositions, "Work Sh*t Out" has a lot of joy, good energy and outstanding musicianship. I also like the much simpler, more modest, super tight "SONGS FOR LOVERS - COFFEE BREAK IS OVER". Responding to miff227's comment, maybe put a list of an artist's songs you've heard (but aren't on your channel's videos) in the Description? Then your audience can feel confident recommendations aren't a waste of time. Just a thought Best Wishes. ☮ PS - As contrast. maybe try a simple song: _Jacob Collier - Little Blue | @MahoganySessions_ th-cam.com/video/IQvzX0Z3HE4/w-d-xo.html The 'choir' are fans responding to a social media request to meet him later the same day. AFAIK, they met, learned the song, rehearsed and performed it, all in about 2 hours. It _is_ live. It is the most comforting song I've ever heard. I'd like to learn what you feel.
@@petramakesmusic675 Thank you for replying. You look too young to recognise the 'vocabulary' of 'stadium rock'.
