Great video again, thank you! And as a Finnish person it warms my heart to see puukko and leuku in your video, traditional tools here in Finland and very much used in bushcrafting everyday.
leukus are amazing. i’m not huge on puukos unless they’re bigger like 4 inch blades, but i loooove leukus. i have an ahti leuku (it’s a shorter blade one- only 5.5 inches) and it’s so insanely comfy in hand. i love it but i want to get a custom leuku commissioned in something like cruwear or vanadis 4e
After buying many different knives, and different kinds of grind and steel, i would suggest you to get a flat ground knife. The main task for a knife is still cutting! The TRC "this is freedom" is a great choice. I ground my on sandpaper to a convex and now it works like a beast.
I have owned a bushcrafter in cruwear for a number of years, I’m so impressed I have just ordered a “hunter” I was going to get it in magnacut however Daniel said it needs more regular maintenance, I didn’t fancy it rusting so I stuck to cruwear
I was at the restaurant with my girlfriend and she felt really sleepy after eating. I told her that we should go home, but I was so happy because I saw that the new video came out and wanted to see it. :D
In my opinion, the combination of a Scandinavian Puukko and Leuku is the best solution for buscraft use. I'm amazed that this application is so rare in the bushcraft scene. I once asked the question about this in a german bushcraft forum. There was no reasonable answer. I think that very few people are aware of the corresponding utility, except for Scandinavia itself. Instead, people are usually fixated on a one piece option with a super grade steel.
I've been using a Helle Harding pukko for 30+ years. (From U.S.A.) I've used it very hard even battoning on occasion. That big daddy knife needs to be in my hands. :-) ♡

How long do they take to make a custom order? Also how much was did you pay for the magnacut one? Sorry for asking but I’m interested in buying stuff from Malanika but they don’t have prices anywhere
I’ve got a few knives but the Malanika Chopper is my favourite. The workmanship and attention to detail is unbelievable. Malanika knives are well worth the wait and are still very reasonably priced when you consider their quality. I’ve got a Bushcrafter on order in Magnacut but that’s a few months away yet.
Oh Snap, I was wondering if Danijel would be using Magnacut - sooo wanna get a Bushcrafter in Magnacut. I'd love to see that reviewed on the channel too.
Hello. I bought a Malanika Leuku on the strength of your earlier film. I had to wait months for it, but last week I finally had it in my hands and was able to use it, practically. It really is as awesome as you made out. Frankly, I don't think I would need another knife ... maybe a Mora for when the Leuku is too big. Making feather sticks to light the house stove was an absulute breeze.
Interesting modern variation in overall blade and handle geometry to the traditional Leuku. There would appear to be a blending (and effective take) of both Latin and Southeast Asian influences to this rendition of Sami Camp Knife. Wow... Steel selection is super high end stuff!!!
Interesting perspective, I see them as more ‘dad knives’ but definitely stunners for looks. Personally I’ve been getting unmistakably perfect performance from my Bark Rivers;. Fox River in CPM 154 & Bravo 1.5LT in 3V In the cold of northern Ontario and typically uncut logs for harvesting/fires, I like blades always a little thicker than what I seen recommended here, although not by much. Always finish my sharpening with my DBK strop!
Hey guys! Would you consider using a more standardized piece of wood for the feather sticking. Like using wood from a single piece of of 2x4 or something. In my experience the wood is just as important as the knife when making feathers so we would a more accurate test. Just a consideration. Thanks!
I have 5 Malanika knife, Bushcrafter, 2Puuko, Leuku, Hunting knife. Love them all. The Leuku is not that much in use though. I rather use the A1pro for whatever reasons.
Great Job Guys, but could you do a Video focussed on Dive Knives, performance, Rust susceptibility, ease of sharpening etc etc, I am a passionate Diver and a sucker for knives, but didn't manage to find the perfect diving knife, even the Salt and H1 series of Spyderco did superficially rust, and the Titanium diving knives are a pain in the arse to sharpen.
Have you looked into nitro-v? Nitrogen based steels (like in the salt series) are basically the best you can do with steels when it comes to rust resistance atm.
@@TheAnonymousSword That is all Horseshit ! I had a Spyderco Atlantic Salt and a Spyderco Native H1, in the Advertisements I saw on TH-cam they where in Salt Water for weeks and looked like new, the reality is, I took them diving and they started to build up rust , although not deep going rust, but still, they also rusted. I need a knife for bush crafting and field dressing so I need a finger guard for field dressing. Hands are going to be bloody and slippery. You'll not going to stab during the work but just preparing for worst case scenario. If a bear/mountain lion/whatever decides it can take you on and ambush you while you're field dressing alone to take your hunt, you might need to stab. While panicking, stabbing on thick skin or bone/ribs/pelvis etc will probably cause your grip to slip and good bye to your fingers and probably your life. This type of grips isn't for me.
Of course, there is a microbevel. Jelio puukkos have microbevel, too. It is easier also for you to sharpen it like that (removing just small amount of material).
