  • The Bosch 12" Glide Miter Saw is a space saving beast!!! Right out of the box this saw was not even close to useable though. Featuring Bosch's Axial Glide System instead of traditional rails, this saw has a look and feel like none I've ever used before. Here's an in depth video about how to make all the adjustments so your saw cuts perfectly. This is the same process for any miter saw but the adjustment screws will be located in different areas. The GCM 12SD has a 12" blade but also comes in a 10" which is the CM10GD. Links to both and all the tools required below! Also look for timestamps below as well as a bunch of other great resources.

    Love the BOSCH saw, and loved the very detailed explanation of how to set or adjust the saw. Will be getting this along with the mobile stand. Will convince both my wife and daughter to get me the stand first for FATHERS day, and get the saw by myself. You sir just earned a sub and a like. Love how you your time, and were very patient with making those infinite adjustments. This video is added to my playlist. I will be reverting to this particular video to make my adjustments once I get it. Very well down sir, I will be back for more of your videos in the future. Thank you for this.

    Thank you for the video! imo - the easiest way to check for main square cut is to get a reasonably sized piece of wood and cut it and check it using your square. And then flip it over and cut again and check for square. That seemed to do the best for me.
    Also, thank you for trying different ways to show how to make it square. Hope it helps others.
    Finally, thanks for not editing your video to make it look easy - while it's not terribly difficult, there is a lot of tweaking here and there to get it perfect.

    • @BorsellinoHomeServices
      @BorsellinoHomeServices  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the feedback! Someone else recommended a digital angle finder that is magnetic and attached to the sawblade. I'm going to have to pick one up and try that out in the future for the bevel cuts. It's definitely a lot of small tweaks back and forth. A little too far one way, not far enough, then too far, over and over. hahaha.

    I have a 12" Dewalt slider which I absolutely love and while it's a great jobsite saw the slide takes up a lot of space when in my shop which is what brings me to your channel! I was researching this Bosch because I was digging it's articulating glide arm but after seeing you struggle to get the miter zeroed in and the clunky adjustment screws and such I'm having second thoughts! Uggh!

      Yeah I don't love this Bosch saw...... If I was going to buy a new one I'd go for the Makita with the front mounted rail. It's the traditional rail glide system but reversed so you can put it against a wall. I don't know if it's any better than the Bosch but worth a shot anyways!

    Thank you for the video. I was looking at miter saws last week and ended up sold on the Bosch. It will still be a month or two before I get it, but youve put a lot of my worries to rest already. Reading the online reviews ( I always start by reading the 1 srar reviews) a lot of folks complained that right out of the box it wouldnt cut square and there were no adjustments for it. 😢. Their loss. I was blown away by the smoothness of the Glide system. I will be using it primarily for making segmented rings which will be glued together and turned into bowls, urns, etc.

      Not sure about the new ones, but the GCM12SD's from before 2020 could not be adjusted to do both a square cut when doing a chop and a square cut doing a slide. You had to choose one or the other because all you can control is the bed and fence, not the path of the blade when extended. The blade shaft is slightly out of alignment with the arm. Adjusting the bed and fence can't fix that. I've been trying to find a solution for 5 years.

    To adjust the main cut at 90 degrees, I have found it very helpful to use a pair of Rockler micro adjusters for the router table. When these are sold, they all "face" in the same direction, but it is very easy to reverse one of them (you unscrew the part that touches what you are going to adjust, take the long screw out of the clamp and screw it into the clamp in the opposite direction, and then screw the face part back in). It is then possible to clamp one of these to each side of the board the saw is attached to, lining them up so that one presses on the right side of the saw and the other on the left. This enables you to make fairly small adjustments to the position of the saw; you just unscrew one a little and then screw the other one in a little more. This is a lot better than whacking the saw one way and, when that proves too far, whacking it in the other direction and hoping that you luck out.

    I returned my first saw because it too was out of square and bevel was off and no matter what adjustments I did as per the manual, it was always off. Either the left side would true up but the right side was off and vise versa. I ended up calling Bosch and the tech guy basically said it’s probably a defective saw and the option were to have them service it or I go back to Depot to exchange it. I ended up exchanging it and the replacement saw right out of the box was spot on square and bevel.
    I did notice on the original saw that the spacing from the table to the underside of the fence on the left was less than on the right side. The new one has equal spacing. So just exchange it for a good one. Overall I am very disappointed with Bosch’s quality control to allow this issue that so many others are having. I didn’t want to give up on it because Lowe’s had it on sale and depot did the price match plus 10%. also after speaking to depot customer service regarding this saw they took another $30.00 off, so I ended up paying only $599.00 + HST. you talking about the pin that holds the blade in the downward position while i'm checking with a square? I do push that in and pull it out to hold the blade down versus holding the blade down with my hand. holding it manually could cause the saw to flex and be inaccurate although the reality is when you cut you're using your hand so maybe i shouldn't use the pin for adjusting.
