    Thanks for the mention, brother. That's a great looking rifle you've got there. Like you mentioned in your last video, the long dwell time from that pistol gas system is gonna give you a really forgiving platform.
    I'm watching your videos very closely and look forward to more! I think Thorsaxe mentioned my troubles with cast bullets. I end up with a stupid ring of lead in my chamber after 50-100 shots. It's been really frustrating for me. I know I'm doing something very wrong, since it happens in both my guns. I finally gave up and just started testing jacketed bullets for a while so I didn't throw my gun in the river out of frustration. I'm going to be switching back to cast bullets really soon so any tips and details you put in your videos about your process is appreciated! I am very new to casting so I spend a lot of time watching videos trying to pick up tips. I can't wait to try out your powder coating method where you heat up the bullets.
    I have a feeling that a lot of my issue have to do with certain powders. I over do EVERYTHING, so instead of focusing on one powder I've tried a bunch and that's probably my mistake. If you continue to have luck with 4227 I will probably just use that on my next round of cast bullet testing. I am going to pick up that Lee mold as well. Thanks for sharing your experience!

      hey there Johnny's Reloading Bench. .. you are definitely worth the mention, ,, you really worked hard on all that! thanks for all your hard work! sometimes you don't necessarily know what you're learning until later when you start connecting the dots! It did influence the build for me! The leading issue is a mystery? the 300 blk seems like a good caliber and cartridge for a reloader, and given the cost... cast lead and homemade brass! Great hearing from ya! and happy reloading my friend!

    • @elvisammo
      @elvisammo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      could the lead ring in the chamber be over gassing maybe?? just a thought. . you had me guessing. ..

    • @JohnnysReloadingBench
      @JohnnysReloadingBench 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't rule out anything but I don't think it's from over gassing. My 16" gun is carbine gas, so it is generally under gassed and shows the same problems. I'll get it figured out eventually! Bullet size, powder selection, crimp....so many variables to test.

      +Johnny's Reloading Bench , I was thinking all of your load components looks great, so maybe it's a stretch to think the timing is off. ( with both barrels ) ? ; ) Idk I enjoy your informative videos! thanks Johnny's Reloading Bench!

      Hey I watched all of your 300 blackout series and the one definite thing I noticed right away is your brass is too long/case length is over maximum length . The Hornady manual misprinted that data . Check vs other sources/manuals they have since corrected it . Another thing is you have a chamber casting that'll help as well. Especially when the cast boolits have to make a jump from chamber/forcing cone / rifling . Sharp edges may need taken care of but I'd cross some other things off first , Cast boolits need to be sized properly to ~ .002 over barrel diameter . Slug the barrel . Chamber castings may grow or shrink so that may not give good accurate #s .Proper fit is more important than hardness especially when powder coated .
      A sincere thank you for all the great info you shared with fellow reloaders ! Hope ^ helps !

    Just got my first Lookie Loo at your Video, I'm Happy for you dude, I can see you are pleased by the Look in your face that you are Happy with what you have. I'm Like you, I have been around and Have stuck with some Powders because I have found that nothing beats it, some Have came close, However I'm not into spending Money that could be used for the stuff that works, Like Bulleseye Powder, It works in everything and it is cheap to shoot, In .45ACP loads Nothing beats it. I Like AA#7 and HS#6 for my 9mm loads,, I think you get what I mean. Anyway, have a good one and God Bless Elvis. Good shooting to ya. (Btw, Thanks for the Mention) Both You and Johnny reloading bench.. You are Good Dudes.

    What's the hardest you can get hardcast lead without making it brittle?
    Also have you experimented with adding something like powdered copper or powdered steel Into your lead castings?
    Also have you thought about making AP ammo by drilling a hole into cast of fmj bullets and putting in a hardened steel penetrator and then filling the back with wax or lead?

    Elvis, I ordered 6 different colors from your same vendor. I ordered my 300 bko molds, still waiting on the to arrive. I bought me another loadmaster press and have all my other material. I just installed my harber freight saw and the jig for cutting. I just started cutting my brass for my 300 bko. I have watched everyone of your video, I know you said in one of them about what length you trim your case. Can you let me know the length that your cutting the case down too? I am not worried about the final length after resizing the case, It would be greatly appreciated. I have been reloading for a long time, but you have me excited about this new 300 bko round for me. I ordered me a new AR coming in 2 weeks, can't wait to start powder coating. If anyone could answer this question on the cut length it would be yourself. I have 1000 rounds to cut. Thanks in advance

    • @elvisammo
      @elvisammo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey there Harleychromeman.... cant wait to see what colors you picked!! you got ya a loadmaster farm!! I trim my brass to 1.370 it might seem a little long but after the cut it seems to bring it down to some good brass. you may adjust it to your liking. it may depend on the cut straight ,rough,smooth,crooked..etc,etc... that how I like mine. i use the lee delux trimmer on my drill.. I like that as well .. regardless of what anyone says, med to high speed cutting works best.. low speed will give a rough cut! from my experience. happy trimming to ya,, guess I'll find out soon enough!!!!

      One of my 300 blackouts is a 16.5" Contender with a 1:12 twist (it was on sale at a good price),so I can't shoot the really heavy bullets. I was thinking that a 150-160 grain soft cast, gas checked bullet would a decent suppressed short range round. Thoughts?

    why isn't there a convention for powder coating bullets? I powder coat and would love to see what the industry could come up with to make it easier.

    • @elvisammo
      @elvisammo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey drjmozingo.. you can't be more right! it's frustrating that there's not more information out there on the most popular method of coating our bullets in the industry! maybe the slow industry will catch up... ie. load data, special bullets, special powder... maybe one of these days through a collaborative effort us powder coaters can put something together. ..thanks for pointing that out!

    hey Elvis, did you use harbor freight powder coat on your bullets, or are you using that Hi tech, or whatever that other stuff is. What was your OAL on that missile? if you were to shoot those at supersonic speeds would you change powder or change the charge? thanks for your Videos and time. You and FortuneCookie45LC always respond to questions.

    • @elvisammo
      @elvisammo  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Matt Lord...I use Harbor freight or Eastwood. My oal for the 230 gr missiles is 2.230 To increase the velocity you can always max out the Imr 4227 and if thats not enough you can use LIL GUN. you might get a little more powder in there with the faster powder. Hope this helps!

    Do you happen to have the speed of those same bullets, with the same powder load, from your same rifle, but WITHOUT the powder coating?
    Same speed with lube instead of powder coating? faster?

    • @elvisammo
      @elvisammo  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey Valid Saberin...I have only shot the powdercoated bullet. with powdercoated bullets they will travel a little faster. more like a jacketed bullet. A lubed bullet will work fine but you may have to change your load a bit. ..

    • @vavoo4971
      @vavoo4971 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!
      I cast bullets for big bore air guns with "only" around 100 foot pounds of energy.
      Anything that can make the bullets go a bit faster and thus provide a flatter trajectory is worth looking into.
      Powder coating should make a real difference as the soft lead bullets used in air guns are not lubed at all to start with.
      I'll try it out. Looks like fun.

      Russians have been known to grace the rifles used to defend the motherland. Maybe bring a box of cast or j-words to your church with you to see if any holiness spreads off and gives the bullets a spiritual buff.

    What is better 300 black out ar15 or 308 ar10?

    • @elvisammo
      @elvisammo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey Hans Pcguy. ... no real good answer. they are very different like a screwdriver and a wrench 308 is heavy, less rounds in a mag and has greater knock down power at distance. .. but the rifle can over heat quicker. you'll want a scope for distance on it. 300 aac blackout on the other hand is the opposite. closer range within 300 yards. they use a very great range of bullet weights from under 100 to about 250 grain bullets and operate very well with 8 to 16 inch barrels fps ranges between 900 to 2500 ..... I think both calibers are very good! just depends on if you have a screw or a bolt to deal with. . ; )
