    As always. It's is entertaining to watch your vids. I do like your new format you are doing. Having done the loads and shooting them before you posted. It helps keep the time to that happy time limit most have. But, will still watch those hour long vids as well. Thanks for all your hard work.PS. That brought to you by Carl's Jr. killed me. Lol.

    Hey Thank you for being friendly explaining concepts that I like to learn, it seems like the .300 blackout bullet is massive for such a small casing, specially 240 grain bullet, any ways I'm a new fan of your channel 👊👍😎

    Nice find, been thinking about loading these for subsonics for my 9.5s. Most factory subsonic ammo is meant to be subsonic for a 16" barrel so out of an SBR/pistol they are closer to 900. Where I live it should be rare for the SoS to go below 1100 so I want to load these just below a safe threshold--about 1050 average if I can keep the SD in the teens. If it is under 45 I just won't use subs.

    Johnny, I know it's been a while on some 300BLK videos, but with Hornadys new A-Tip out in 250gr, you think you could work us up a load for it? Would like to see how it does out of a short barrel.

  • @Morphz_Unlimited

    Awesome! This video shows that a 1-7 twist barrel is not necessarily a must have. I'm shocked with the results especially with the performance of the 16" rifle.

    How would you feel about doing a video on how to get more consistant velocities from handloads...300 blackout subsonic would be my vote for caliber,but just in general would be great too....and maybe even going over just how important is it...So damn frustrating....And also I don't believe you tested any round nose subsonic's ,aside from the Maker Rex bullets..I've gotten my best accuracy and consistency from those types...thanks,great channel

  • @ForOdin

    I know I’m commenting 3 years after you posted this video, but is it possible you got two of the test loads mixed up? That would explain that odd velocity chart

    Im still going trough your videos. Do you have any test on boat tail vs flat base at subsonic velocities? From what i understand the boat tail is only benificial to accuracy when a projectile goes transsonic.

    I don't know if it's been mention yet. Have you tried or thought about the berry's plated 220 blackout Bullet?

    • @JohnnysReloadingBench
      @JohnnysReloadingBench  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I am not really interested in the Berry's. Way too expensive. Not much cheaper than the Hornady 225 jacketed bullets.
      I just ordered some of the new Rainier 180gr plated bullets, though. They are super cheap and I'm hoping they'll do well.

    I noticed the factory ammo sounded a lot quieter than your reloads on camera with the suppressor on. You could literally hear the bolt cycling. Could that be because AA1680 and CFEBLK make so much more gas?

    • @JohnnysReloadingBench
      @JohnnysReloadingBench  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's exactly why. The slower powders that work the action hard are noticeably louder.

    • @bassetthound2008
      @bassetthound2008 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just remembered. I was on Wideners website and saw they have Hornady 178 gr. BTHP for 28 cents a bullet. Would bullets around 180 gr. be good for a "cheap" shooting subsonic?

    • @JohnnysReloadingBench
      @JohnnysReloadingBench  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think so. I have several 180gr bullets that I want to test for subsonics. Midsouth Shooters Supply has a 190gr Match Monster as well that is pretty cheap.

    • @bairpharm787
      @bairpharm787 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have had good results with the Nosler custom competition 190 gr and I have pick them up as low as 22 cents a round

      Most cameras have auto limiters, so it cuts the auto volume down.If you record separate sound and normalized it, the gun would sound louder.

  • @michaelgrossman5059

    How can I really test my reloads without a chrono? Sure I can test for accuracy and reliability but thats about all I can think of. And im aware of a ballistic pendulum but I was just wondering if there was something else I could test for or do.

  • @elwhastrummer

    The idea of de-milling ammo is maybe a little sketch, as you don't know how the primer is gonna react to the bullet being pulled, especially in automation. However, now they're gonna cut off and then re-size the neck to take .300AAC bullets...? Man, you gotta wonder how many of those went off during the process? I imagine there are safeguards, literally guards and shields in place to keep operators from catching flack.
    But why not just load the ammo? Is it that much more economical?? Just curious.

  • @dylanreynolds4899

    I'm kind of new to shooting 300 blackout and this may be a dumb question, but why would anyone need to spend the money for match grade 240 gr 300 blackout ammo? What use does it have? I have some buddies that shoot comp and none of them are shooting 300 blackout. Seems really exspensive for something just to make holes in paper at the range

      It generally takes me about 25 minutes to shoot a 25 shot string of groups. 30-45 seconds between shots and a minute or two loading up each magazine.
