In another comment I just suggested 2 302s since apparently one makes the same power as a 460. It's also the only thing I can think of that would be more ridiculous (in a good way) than the Audi. ...if you do this right you can also add 8 turbos in the process.
I would love to see the powerstroke swap because I want to put that engine in things and would like to know how to make it run on its own but putting a CAT engine in it seems like a different idea that isn't done often

You keep busting on Fords but the truck did great and I know your falling in love! Side note.. I like the guys idea of a 6.7 in the truck. Never seen one in a gen 9 truck and they’re fantastic motors.

One thing you have to watch out for on the obs fords is the auto locking hubs on the front of the truck after high miles like to lock up randomly so personally i would recommend switching over to the manual hubs
I was just in that tire shop with my boss who was buying a new set of tires he has a white powerstroke Super Duty Crew Cab about 5 years newer than yours, he gave them a spare and two others which had a lot of tread on them. It's crazy seeing you guys in my neighborhood you'll find trucks down here without any rust on them. Got to be careful though, a lot of people bring rust- buckets or Hurricane flood cars out here and try to pawn them off.
Great video Rich. Good luck with that OBS F350. The 460 is a durable engine but not fuel efficent at all. Can't blame you for wanting to swap in a diesel
living in the Adirondack mountains of northern NY it always blows my mind to see rust free vehicles. Within 3 years trucks are rusting here and by 10 look like they've been fished off the ocean floor. A dream of mine is to go to someplace like vegas or wherever trucks don't rust and find a 67-72 chevy truck to haul home and restore with all these perfectly good engines and drivetrains I've got from my last rusted out couple trucks
I’ll bet the whole time he was telling these guys how easy it is to work on a Cali truck;). Being in northern Wisconsin with more salt on the roads than asphalt I know how frustrating it can be on these old trucks. Where I live there’s no way in hell you’d get those manifold gaskets done without a broken bolt(and that’s with a few days of deep creep, pb blaster and an acetaline torch. Someday I sure hope to buy a truck this rust free!

here's one of my road warrior tips, if you have a radiator leak and want to get home put about 4 cigarettes of tobacco in your radiator, it will seal up your radiator won't hurt your water pump and it will disintegrate In a few days . I was stuck once in Kingman Arizona,I was drafting a truck at 90 mph and it kicked up a rock and put a big hole in my radiator and I didn't have any water ,all I had was a case of generic beer the kind that just says beer on it , I added half a pack of tobacco and filled it up with that beer it got me all the way home to California but you should have smelled the beer and cigarette breath it had when I opened the cap! lol
The Ferd 7.3 has been suggested, the Cummins 5.9 as well, even the CAT C7, but what this monster truck truly needs is a Cummins 8.3 stuffed into it with compound turbos sticking out the hood.

If you want I'll tell you about our entire farmtruck fleet that has 6.7s. Including 2 flatbed F-750s, 2015 F-250, and a 2017 F-350. But hey, it's just anecdotal because YOU aren't here. I know they have issues, all engines do, but the 6.7 is widely regarded as reliable as the 7.3L was, if not more. Sorry my experience wasn't up to your personal standards.
rough lean surging at that vintage, I'd first assume the ethanol and other cruft in the gas attacked and ate the fuel pump to line hose inside the tank and module in that case... they get brittle, split and will start spraying fuel out. learned that the hard way over the years.
Great video of a fun road trip. I had a ‘97 SuperCab with the mighty 460. Official HP was 245, so the estimates of 258, etc., were wildly optimistic. Speed was limited to 96 mph per GPS. It was a great all around truck. It was fun watching the video👍.
I like Cummins. I worked on Cummins until I retired. I have a 4bta/TH475/NVG 241c and Dana 44 axles./ for my 1952 IHC shorty pickup. I bought a 24 valve for my 1953 IHC crewcab. I Have a set of Dana 60 with disc brakes for this project. I vote for CUMMINS.
25 years ago i said no more muscle car projects when i had 5 in the yard, then imoved on and now have 7 trucks, and in between i bought 4 or 5 boats, then 4 dirt bikes and then three harleys , now i am moving and i have to sell them all and fix most of them so then it will start all over:)
You're gonna like the crew cab, got the ext cab ext bed & have been in a few 4 door OBS trucks & wish mine was, but a crew cab w a 7.3 idi w a 5spd is a pretty rare combination to come by, I cant believe I managed to find a 93 250 w an idi & a 5spd. nice truck!
Most auto parts stores in the US don't give a damn if you work in the parking lot. I did the front brakes on my '93 F150 flareside in the parking lot of a local o'reilys because they where too thin to pass the yearly state inspection.

for packing wheel bearings, quart size baggies or larger makes life very easy, turn inside out to easily coat the races and shaft and pack a bit of excess in at assembly. it's very worth the cost and nearly no greases nor hands "wasted" ;)
This obs ford owner has never walked in just 800 km short of 100,000 km. The only time my f150 has come home on a tow truck was when it was stolen and I didn’t want to replace a fan belt in a town half an hour away 😁

I haven't watch much boosted boyz videos, if any, but the more I see them on other channels like this and Cleetus McFarland, the more I respect them. Because they like Hondas I thought they would be like all the Honda fanboys in the internets who are haters of anything else. But they do seem to be proper gear heads who can appreciate all the "genres".
It's got the power steering pump whine I expect out of a Ford of that age,my stepdad has an old service truck that's a square body Ford with a power steering pump whinebit's quite annoying when you're pulling trailer cuz it's bad enough that it affects the brakes too. Otherwise it's one of the most solid trucks I've ever driven

The drivability of a modern deleted diesel and 6-speed - plus auto make it worth the extra wiring effort. An early 6.7 would be my pick for this truck
Early 6.7s have a lot of problems, especially with the turbo... I would recommend a cat 3208

Best way to fix ford engine cast iron manifold leaks is with a set of headers, been there done that. Get rid of those auto hubs while youre at it
check the coolant system for oil , the oil cooler is known to crack and put oil into the antifreeze , ford no longer has a replacement part

My dad has a 1999 7.3 Turbo Diesel F250 with only ~150K on it, these are amazing trucks.

I did an alternator in an o'Reilly's parking lot because I was on a trip and mine took a dump. The guys were cool about it. 👍
I've lost count of the number of parts that I've replaced in parts store parking lots. I blame it on all the old vehicles I drive.

Love it Rich! I have always felt that the only reason they went to ifs front ends was toncut costs, the SFA rides equal or better than ifs.
A lot of it looked like remakes but maybe not, they are just so well finished and bright looking.
I have a 93 f250 I put a 97 powerstroke in. I just put that f26 40 gallon rear tank and got rid of the dual tank setup

I haven't watch much boosted boyz videos, if any, but the more I see them on other channels like this and Cleetus McFarland, the more I respect them. Because they like Hondas I thought they would be like all the Honda fanboys in the internets who are haters of anything else. But they do seem to be proper gear heads who can appreciate all the "genres".

It's got the power steering pump whine I expect out of a Ford of that age,my stepdad has an old service truck that's a square body Ford with a power steering pump whinebit's quite annoying when you're pulling trailer cuz it's bad enough that it affects the brakes too. Otherwise it's one of the most solid trucks I've ever driven
