    I bought my 450x back in April. My son, on his 250x, and I ride trails and tight ATV/single tracks in the woods in Oregon. This is a great bike. His 250x is more nimble. But the 450x has the power....to climb straight up a hill. It's a fun bike. Lovin' it. Oil changes are simple and quick. I change every 500 to 600 miles/ per the book. This bike is bulletproof. LIke my other Hondas.

    On point overview. My Honda 250X is serving me well in my type of riding. Valves always in spec. Change the oil, clean the air filter and put on brakes, tires and gas. 👍

    You're sooo right about the maintenance schedule and owners manual language!! Everybody has there panties in a bunch about that. With the average Joe on any of these Honda CRF models they will go for years and thousands of miles. Honda quality second to none! Just a fact!

    I just picked up the CRF450l, I love knowing that once I modify it I basically have this bike with minor differences. PN#'s for the piston, cam...etc are all the same

    The one advantage in eastern rocky rooty trails... with the heavy weight you can run stiffer suspension because there is less deflection when you hit an unexpected obstacle or protrusion in the trail. You can really hammer through woops that might upset a lighter bike with compromise suspension set up for rough terrain.
    When I got back into riding a few years back, I remember looking at this bike and thinking "who would buy this?" Now that i'm older and more experienced, it's me. I'm the person this bike makes sense for.

    Jimmy, the big question is: is it worth selling a well setup gen 1 450X for the new one?

      My bud just bought one, i rode it today. I have an older Gen 1 450x that is identical in weight, but the new one feels insanely lighter and more compact. It literally feels like a 250. The FI is smoother than Yamaha's also. Quiet and powerful. Im not selling my older one, but wish i didnt ride the new one LOL

    I'm in California and looking into this model. The question I can't get a clear answer on is, is the 2023 Model still green sticker?

    I have this bike but in 2020 model and I'm low key about to take it to the motocross track to get some more hours on it between hare scrambles. Nothing too crazy though. I used to take my 92 KDX 200 to the tracks and I feel the Honda would be better but ultimately if I had the 450r that would be sufficient

    I'm going to buy this bike (the 2022 model) this weekend. Can't wait! One question - I assume the headlight is always on. Is there a switch or kit that I can install so I can shut it off during the day? Great review by the way - very thorough and touched on all points. Thanks!

    • @DirtBikeTest
      @DirtBikeTest  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a switch, stock. you can turn it off.

    Great review. I have a 2013 CRF450X similar mods. Couldn't help notice on the new 450X the "long" front brake cable , ?? I'm guessing Honda must know that a lot of tall riders (like myself) raise the bars. Then position the throttle cables like KTM does stock on all there bikes. Unfortunately here in BC Canada we don't get the New CRF450X .

    Great review, straightforward and informative. I think there should be a rule though, you can’t call it long term until you get it to the first top end rebuild.

    • @DirtBikeTest
      @DirtBikeTest  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We tend to agree with you but most owners will not ride the bike long enough to need a top-end rebuild...

      We answered this on Tech Talk Taco Tuesday #39 or 40, maybe 41...but who has time to listen to that crap!

    Exactly my experience owning a 250X. Kept it stock but had to change the jets. I regret selling it. Wish Honda offered a 250 bike between the 250F and the 250RX.

    • @LayerZeroDesign
      @LayerZeroDesign 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is my thoughts exactly. I'm looking for something that will mainly be a trail bike but a bit more performance and higher spec parts than the 250f. Sure my riding will be mostly trails but there are plenty of open green belts, hill climbs, and I live on a farm with a lot of open land so I want some more balls on the bike. As a Honda guy, my only real option is the 250rx. Which then at that price point, I think Yamahas wr250f is a better bike overall. Wish Honda had a liquid cooled 250ish bike that's not quite an R but more speced than the F to slot into the ~$6k price point.

    • @jamesc6137
      @jamesc6137 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really think the 250rx fits the bill you’re wishing for.

    I have the same bike. How’d you fix the front forks response to smaller rocks and such? I don’t like the initial feeling and it really beats me up. Stiff until the fork starts to travel

      My older X, when i switch from desert to mnt rock riding i air the front down to 10, rear at 8. Makes the slow speed stuff real plush. HD tubes, no Tubliss. Mnt riding i rarely see 40mph and never blown a tube yet.
