    My Husvarna 435 says to use engine oil. Just a FYI.
    Needle bearing lubrication
    The clutch drum has a needle bearing on the output shaft.
    This needle bearing must be lubricated regularly.
    When lubricating, remove the clutch cover by loosening
    the two bar nuts. Lay the saw on its side with the clutch
    drum upwards.
    Lubrication involves engine oil dripping into the centre of
    the clutch drum as it rotates.

    Thanks for a nice 'silent' video. So many folks babble on and on and on....
    And one of your responders answered the only question I had when the video was over...if it is OK to use the bar lube for this bearing...and luckily, it is!
    My Husky is a 350...when I logged onto the Husq site today, it did not even come up in a search, their former phone number has been disconnected, and the "chat room specialist" was pretty much of a dufus when he answered my one question, which was not what I asked him in the first place.
    Thanks, AutoTuneTM! Also, subbing!

    On a husky lacking the grease hole, you just drip some oil (I use ATF) past the clutch to the crankshaft. No need to remove the clutch. I lube it every day if I'm firewooding. I've sawed a lot of wood with my 345 and the needle bearing looks new.

      Does it matter what kind of oil I don't know much about oil? I just got my first chainsaw, and Manuel just says oil or high-quality grease. I have a 440 husqvarna

    Many saws of multiple brands do NOT have a grease hole in center of crankshaft. That hole in center of crankshaft is for tooling center point for lathe that makes crankshaft only. Pump in grease = no grease comes out side of crankshaft to go into needle bearings.
    A good practice is take off clutch, drum, needle bearing to find out yes or no does your saw have the greasing feature that is shown in this video. No hole in end AND side of crankshaft = no grease feature upgrade.

      I don’t believe Husky saws do not have a grease hole. Don’t be lazy, take off the clutch and grease it correctly.

      Husqvarna 545 chainsaw the shaft is hollow on the clutch side and has a small, lateral hole that leads to the bearing, so can pump a little grease into the end of the shaft and out to the bearing. Your 455 there is no has grease hole.

    The husqvarna owners manual states the needle bearing should be lubricated with engine oil on a regular basis. Why wouldn't husquvarna recommend grease? I always used oil as stated and have never needed to replace the needle bearing. I have cut more then 350 cords of without any major repairs. I think I'll just keep using motor oil. It looks like a good idea... but there must be reason they don't recommend grease....🤔

    • @AutoTuneTM
      @AutoTuneTM  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is not recommended because your saw does not have a hole in the end of the crankshaft in which to place grease.

      @@AutoTuneTM every husqvarna saw I own has the hole.. but I have been putting engine oil with an oil can. Common sense tells me grease should work better but there must be a reason they recommend oil. Maybe the grease holds grit and steel and the oil lubricates and washes the grit and junk away.

      Glenn S is the hole cross drilled to feed the inside of the bearing? Some of the holes on the crankshaft are blind

    • @glenns8418
      @glenns8418 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesanderton344 yes it's cross drilled, at least on the all the husquvarna saws I have. I have seen other saws where the hole is just a alignment hole used for a puller to get the clutch off.

      Why waste lube or make a mess with the wrong accessory? Husqvarna has the Grease Gun to easily complete every grease job. externalepc.husqvarnagroup.com/uk/consumersite/spare-parts/595011701

    I know some full time guys who don't ever grease the needle bearing. Do you use the same grease for the bar?

    • @AutoTuneTM
      @AutoTuneTM  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the bar is lubricated with the same grease. You can also buy a bar that does not need to be lubricated.

    There's no reason to remove the red collar. What you jeopardize by removing the piston and spring, is to get the inner o-ring off position. By applying force to the handle, that will damage the o-ring. Would have appreciated you pointing at the inner o-ring in this instruction stating the fact this could happen when opening this section of the grease gun.
