1:19:44 "Infinity ends and the story passes into Myth" One of the fun things going through this again, all the little things I didn't quite catch the first time. It's been a ride watching these with you.
I’ll be honest, I was close to screaming when I revisited the first Myth after checking out Pathways into Darkness again. I was not ready for another “the hole gets deeper”
1:15:53 Remember that "rogue star" mentioned at the end of Marathon 2? Remember the MIDA Multi-Tool in Destiny? _It's all connected in some fashion, no matter how loose it is there is still a connection._
I love the ending where he shows different timelines where other gaming channels covered the Marathon series in other formats. Its a very fun way to do a crossover. The animation went so hard too. This whole series is a neat case for reviews being their own artforms.
The Halo Infinite ending was really kinda came out of left field for a lot of players, and they got criticized for it. It introduced the Endless, who supposedly have control over time, and Master Chief's escaping the load-bearing building by jumping through a teleporter that, for some reason, send him 3 days forward in time. Looking back on it, yeah, they definitely were trying to pull a Marathon. Didn't quite pan out, I believe.
By the way, did you notice the logo on Shadowsun's shoulder pad in the TTS video that Kitten declares is "NOT FUCKING CANON"? _Because Mandalore is right, you do notice that logo everywhere._
I had to check, I thought this was a trick. I saw it… The rapidly growing tech, multiple aliens species, the AI and a underwhelming rebellion on a colony with an amazing small group of soldiers. I’m gonna go insane
39:41 It was _attempted_ to transfer to Durandal, it had an unknown error twice in the process. 39:51 Yeah, Leela is one of the Marathon's other AIs. The full roster was Leela, Durandal, and Tycho.
I remember when Mandy did a stream of playing the Garten of Banban games. It was after the Marathon reviews, so people kept sending him insane crossover shitposts and kept making Marathon references in the chat. It was so fucking funny and crazy that now I’m convinced Garten of Banban and Marathon are similar in many ways XD
I have recently completed a run of this game. Edit: 7 likes, is this coincidence? 20:20 Those oxygen stations are so stupidly sparse that the converted church's lava lift got me because lava is also a liquid. 29:38 In that timeline's exit terminal, Tycho mentions using or preparing to use the early nova weapon. We end up blinking out of there because it's a foregone conclusion. 54:05 Even when faced with oblivion, Durandal is playfully unhinged as ever. Unfortunately for him, he will inevitably be subjected to all of the listed hazards. 1:01:27 Most people do forget to look up, which is why Mandalore had so much trouble. I might just be comfortable accepting these games on *their terms* rather than my own.
Infinity ties more into destiny series honestly and so does stuff from Myth(for example "the nine" appear in both myth and destiny). I have to mention tho that Myth like Destiny lifts a lot from Glen Cooke's excellent Black company series of books(highly recommend a read if you are a fan of dark fantasy) -In case of destiny its more concepts that are adapted from the novels rather then 1:1 tho it also uses some naming conventions too like "the taken", some of the speech of certain characters is reminiscent of the wish dragons of destiny, "The lady " heavily shares her personality with the destiny witch queen Savathuun and is even referred to as a witch queen at times. - In case of Myth however the borrowing is very direct in many cases like the comet (tho the comet appears in marathon as well), cycles of light and dark, the antagonists are heavily based on the "taken" and especially a lot of it is very close the the first 3 books in the Black company series. For example of marathon into destiny: some terminal stuff like the one from "eat the path" almost directly mentioned by the sword logic wielding Hive gods. Then there is the MIDA stuff where those weapons are directly in the destiny universe and its mentioned they are from an alternate timeline and that the characters are aware of it. It still does tie into halo tho, the elite society in Marathon is basically the ONI of Halo and spartans are essentially the cyborgs, in an early version of halo they even used the same designations instead of mjolnir being the name of their armor. MIND YOU THIS IS ONLY THE TIP There are way more comprehensive lists of what bungie lifts from "The black company" and how things appear or relate between their games, THE RABBIT HOLE IS REAL.
One idea would be that the woman is Adversity incarnate. It is what heroes confront all the time. Without adversity, heroes would not exist, so it would explain the love/hate relationship between both.
I gotta say, you can have the biggest W in the world for thinking about multiple timelines in only 5 and a half minutes of video 55:36 well, considering that Tycho is the one who call durandal, well, durAndal and not dUrandal, i think it is a joke to his role on the ship, like a mockery of some kind from Tycho
One of the things i find while investigating was someone who had the theory that the w'rkncacnter and the Precursors in Halo were the same since in lore is stated by a gravemind that the Precursors pre-dated the current universe they are in. The theory basically says that as the Flood is a "consumer" form of the Precursors sort to speak, the w'rkncacnter would be another similar form of the same species that teaches their creations in some way the cycle we see in marathon to go on and continue their work meanwhile they stay guiding others through conflic (this is a theory of the flood also elated to when they choose a species to hold the mantle). The theory is a pretty unlikely to be true obviusly it ties a lot of points between Marathon and Halo Also for something that would be a spoiler for myth is probably that both have the same philosophy so more to the theory to make sense
Yes? I don't dream of normal sheep so, eh? Except for one dream where my flying car had a button to deploy goat paratroopers with AKs... It was a weird dream.
There is a Marathon Infinity inspired mod for System Shock 2 called System Shock Infinite. Unlike Marathon Infinity, you do get to pick which timeline to follow to the end.

"all these squares make a circle"
"Okay what's up with him?"

A good way to comprehend a higher being, they see and can interact with the universe from the same perspective as we do when we read and write a story
That is a great way to look at it.
How convenient: Marathon Infinity was just released on Steam, with support for Steam Workshop. Some third-party scenarios have already been added.

Myth and Myth 2 would not normally be related but Mandalore kind of made them so. The stories aren't connected, maybe.
