  • When the Nikon Z5 was released I was quite sure I would not be purchasing it, a year later and here I am with the Nikon Z5! In this video I explain why I did decide to purchase this camera with the 24-50 kit lens.

    Download trial versions of Luminar 4 & AI here: www.avpstudios.net/special-of...
    Use the code 'AVP' to get $10 off the purchase price off either Lumiar 4 or AI

    I realise you made this video 2 years ago, but I just wanted to agree with you when you said you were a bit disappointed that Nikon were referring to this camera as 'Entry Level'. I've recently purchased the Z5 and I feel that there is nothing 'Entry Level' about it! I absolutely love mine. Everything about it, to me, just screams quality.

    It's a $1,300 full frame camera with a combination of features you typically only find on cameras costing twice as much. a great 3.69 milldot EVF, IBIS, a 1/8000s mechanical shutter, dual card slots, a large battery and weather sealing. It's the same price as the brand new R8 which lacks all of those features and why I chose the Z5 a couple days ago instead, and I am a huge Canon user. Especially at its $997 price. Canon and Sony should be ashamed they can't put out anything this good for the price. Nikon deserves a ton of credit.

    The Z5 was my first step into a full committed step into mirrorless photography, im floored by the feel and quality and with out hesitation i bought a Z50 and ive never been so satisfied in my set up

      I agree, everything about the Z line up is top notch. The Z5 does have that 1.7 crop in 4k but it actually works for me quite well so I dont find it annoying, I would if I needed a wider field of view when filming in 4k, I have also got the Zfc which I also rally enjoy using.

      I´ve owned both cameras since 2-3 years (first Z50 then Z5) and I´m absolutly satisfied with both for my kind of photography (model, boudoir, sometimes landscape). Good choice!

    The Nikon Z5 was the first full frame camera I bought and I still love it. No BSI but slap that 28mm f/2.8 prime lens with that 1.7 crop gives me the best looking picture of myself when describing products or ranting from a young 65 year old who loves to make videos for TH-cam.

    Nikon is amazing ; maybe they aren’t up to par with the af compaired to other brands aside from the z9 but once they unleash z9 performance in the small bodies is the end of the competition . Nikon glass is amazing and best ergo imo .

    I was initially put off the Z5 from a channel I follow Bill & Eric. He sent his Z5 back because he found the AF was bad. But I have now heard its had a AF update and is much better.
    Question - how do you find the 1080p

    The Z5 looks great, but I'm hoping with the rumored release of the Z6 III right around the corner, there'll be a price drop on the Z6 II to at least close to the Z5 body price. The Z6 II has some better bang for not too much more buck, in terms of BSI sensor, higher burst rate (more than double, even with mechanical shutter), top LCD, and the ability to send 10-bit 4:2:2 video to an external monitor-recorder (and *12-bit ProRes Raw* with a paid upgrade!).

      The Z 50mm 1.8 is an amazing lens, and relatively affordable. For flexibility, if you can get the Z5 with the 24-70mm f4; that lens is very good, too - but the 50mm 1.8 is on another level!

    How is the autofocus on z5 compared to z6?

    • @AvpStudios
      @AvpStudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have only had the Z5 for a few weeks but my initial tests suggest it is better, its certainly not worse! The face and eye detect is very good, it compares very favourably against my Sony a7C and a6600 although the sonys do pick up the face from a further distance.

    • @socialbender
      @socialbender 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve owned both , currently own 2 z6’s and I’m buying another z5 next week for my gf. Imo the af on the z5 might be better but overall performance is better on the z6. Also when shooting in super low light the back screen on the z5 becomes unusable . The images will look good but you won’t be able to see anything ; so shooting Astro is just out of the questions . I know I have used it side by side with the z6 .
