    Very interesting and informative.

4:10-4:20 Why would the possible depth when having a four be the wrong card? Does it have to do with it being for a motorcycle?
Also loved how you showed the second side being cut, great angle!!

So the reason why a 4 depth would be the wrong is because the code series for this lock only has 3 different possible depths, which is all this card will cut. There are other motorcycle keys that have deeper cuts than a 3 so you would use the card for that manufacture.
I am glad you liked it, attempting to make things entertaining.

I lost my BMW 650 Dakar key, I have a note written on the manual key#H21543p
Is it possible to make a new key using that number ?

***PLEASE BE CAREFUL PUTTING PERSONAL INFORMATION IN THE COMMENT SECTION ***
That number does fall in the code series. I would go to a local locksmith and see if they can make it. If they can't, then perhaps the dealer can. I currently do not have the key blanks for that bike. It should not have a transponder, so there should be no extra steps needed once a key has been made.

Hello, I have a honds vtx 1300 and lost my only key and its for ignition and gas cap. Could you cut me a key?

Thanks for watching. In order to make a key, I would either need the code from the bike (do not put it in the comments) or the lock. I would recommend finding a locksmith that is local to you, as they should also be able to make the key for you.

I have a 89 Suzuki 1100 GSX katana. I lost the keys to this bike. During late fall I had to reinstall the ignition gas tank and seat / helmet lock and this summer went to look for the keys couldn't find them. The last set broke no one could or would make another for me. If I find out my code could you make a key for me? If not is there anyway I to find out where to get this program so I can do it myself? And does that program only work on motorcycle keys? Kid it also work on my cars or house? For the cars does that program also include the little chip or RF code reader in the handles? Does it show how to program those two

Okay, first let me say thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. With that said there are a lot of questions there and I will number them when attempting to answer them.
      1) The program is Instacode, it is available for purchase online. However, you will also need the key blanks and a key machine that can cut keys from scratch vs just duplicates.
2)I am sorry to hear of your difficulties getting a key made for your bike. Any locksmith near you should have been able to make a key from any of the locks that you mentioned or even from a broken key (provided you have all if the pieces), there should have been a code on several of those locks. If they didn't have a code on them, they could be disassembled and a key made. Side note, (I just finished making keys for 2 scooters that didn't have codes and had to be made by hand using a file.)
If you can't find anyone local I could make a key by code though I prefer to have the lock in hand to confirm the key works, I have had instances where the lock had been rekeyed and the code was no longer valid. Rare yes, but it does happen.
      3) The code program doesn't have anything to do with the transponder (chip) in the key. That is an entirely different tool similar to what a mechanic uses to diagnose your check engine light, to program a new key into a car or an entirely different machine to read the current transponder and clone another key.
      4) The program will work on any code that has been released and put into it by the publishers of the program. Just because a lock has a code on it doesn't mean that the manufacturer has released it, in those instances you need to go to them for a key.
      5) House locks don't have codes like your motorcycle. The numbers on the key (if present on the original) are a direct read to what the cuts are.
I hope this answers your questions.

Okay I have seen the one where they disassemble the ignition and cut the key by hand using a file. But I'm not sure I will be able to do all the things that I saw him do there LOL probably can but that looks like a lot of work. In that video they also mentioned that you can make a key using the other two locks the tank and the seat lock. The only downside may be that it might be one or two pins short. Meaning the ignition would have possibly let's say five or six pins and the other two only have three or four. Well, could it be possible to send you my ignition come and if so how much would you charge to make a key? Like I said I have roughly two locksmiths in this area both said they couldn't do it and even the dealership told me they can't do it even if I had the original key. Something about their machine doesn't cut that type of metal. In the video where he use the file to make a key I don't remember if he said you had to do both sides I believe he said some require cutting both sides some you may not need to. One other question. I seem to remember years ago there was a type of key you can insert into the ignition or door or lock and it had several pins or pieces that you would slide in and out to get the pin height or something and then when you removed it it was I guess the code is there anyway I can find out what the name of that thing is or if they even make those still and if they even make one for a motorcycle. Really would like to ride this thing sometime this summer if not I am going to just put it up for sale

1)Taking the ignition apart can be difficult or even unrealistic depending on the model, if you are not good working with small pieces, jigsaw puzzles, or have a short temper then I would recommend not attempting that route.
      2) On most bikes the ignition has 1 more wafer than the tank and 1 or 2 more than the helmet lock. If you get lucky it will be a number 1 depth (which is the full with of the key) and it will work the lock. If you are not that lucky than you will need to progression the missing cut(s)
      3) What you are talking about with filing both sides of the key is when the lock has opposing wafers. This is when all of the odd number spaces are on one side and the evens are on the other. You could leave the key that way but you would have to put the key in the correct way all the time, by cutting the even and odds on both sides it makes it so the key works either way. Most bikes (at least the ones I run into) are not opposing wafers. Most cars are, if they are not sidewinders (that is an entirely different conversation).
      4) There are tools that can be used (with practice) that can pick and/or decode locks. But there is nothing where you put it in and wiggle it around and magically come out with a working key.
      5) The code if I member correctly on your ignition should be on the area where your steering lock comes out. I believe that it will be a string of 4-6 number shouldn't have letters though it might, I just don't recall, the same series could also be on the helmet lock. with either lock it will most likely need to be removed from the bike to see the code.
Do not put answers in here but email me @ eric @detorno.com
      Where are you located?
      What is the code?
Are you the original owner or how certain are you that the locks are original to the bike and not rekeyed?

Do you do car keys? I think my car needs to be programmed though.

I don't do any vehicles that have a transponder and need to be programed.

Please don’t make any more videos where you’re explaining/teaching anything! What little information that was covered in this video I feel for the amount of time I sent watching it destroyed more neuron pathways than it created 🤬

I found the video interesting, I’m watching it out of curiosity. Obviously you’re not gonna understand all the terminology if you haven’t worked with keys before. No need to hate
