Nice, what year

Don't know, just bought it. Just trying learn everything about it.

There may be a sticker where you enter the cab that says or you can find the serial number and look it up on line. Knowing the year can be helpful if it is at the beginning or end of the production of the model. Mine is a late 1988 and the 580K came out in 89. Some of the things on it are K parts like the brakes.

The key code is usually not on the face of the lock on motorcycles. It should also be on the helmet lock. My best advice is to bring it to your local locksmith to get a key made

With the code any locksmith should be able to make the key provided they have access to a code program and the correct key blank

Thank you for watching. It is not possible to cut a key to work locks that are keyed differently. It is possible to key a lock so that different keys work it (master keying)

Actually, thinking about it. If it was a double-sided key for a vehicle, you could possibly cut one key to work 2 differently keyed vehicles as long as the key went into the locks. The caveat is that the key would only work one way in each vehicle.

Thank you for taking the time to watch. So far, it appears to have held up (though I have not checked on it after the 14" of heavy wet snow we just got). The ends are only attached with velcro, where the top and sides use the bungee cords. Will be adding grommets to the ends to allow bungee cords to be used there as well.

What I liked to use is no longer made, so I used a WD product. You want to use a dry lube product.

Unfortunately, I do not know the answer to either of those questions as they came with the vehicle when I got it. However, I can tell you that I probably put too many miles on them (about 160k since I got the Ridgeline). The other plugs though. even showing use, did not seem too bad.

It was easy to work on. Sadly, it did not fix the issue. The spark plug that exploded took out the engine......

Thanks for watching. In order to make a key, I would either need the code from the bike (do not put it in the comments) or the lock. I would recommend finding a locksmith that is local to you, as they should also be able to make the key for you.

The correct terminology escapes me at times. Also forgot to mention zero change.

Repairing the brakes (if like mine) will be quite the chore. My backhoe has wet brakes, which are in the transfer area in the middle. There is an adjustment for them, which is in an area in front of the rear tires. The emergency brake might be a quicker and cheaper option. Mine is a disk brake type setup right in the middle of the backhoe. The models without wet brakes, I believe, are more in line with a car and located out at the wheels, but don't quote me on that. Then there is the biggest brake of all, drop one or both buckets 😉 😀 Thanks for watching, and I am glad you enjoyed it. Good luck with the driveway.

That is a tough task on those tractors. The K series started a big change in the line. I've got a 590super L. The brakes are completely different. Hubs , everything is changed. Besides brakes and transmission, I love the E and D series!!! My favorite. Yours has everything 4 in 1 front bucket, 4x4, extendahoe, and enclosed cab. The Cadillac model!! ❤

Mine has everything except ac, though I am not sure it was an option. I really enjoy it.

Okay, I read and responded to your second comment first. The 1984 model, I am almost certain, has dry brakes, and I don't believe you need to get into the transfer area. Though if the brakes truly need to be replaced and not just adjusted, you will need strong help and/ or other heavy equipment around.

I would say the gun cleaner would be your cleaner of choice. What I was using was similar to the PTFE version of WD40. Do not use regular WD40 as it doesn't dry and will attract dirt. If you use gun cleaner you can then take some gun oil 1-2 drops on a clean rag and a quick wipe. You want just a slight film on the wheels, not a lot of lube is required. Depending on what type of set up you have, it might be a hand change, if it is be careful that you don't push the center section out, unless you want to change the combination. If it is a key change you can be a little rougher with the wheels with out fear of accidently changing the combination. (future video) ****Once clean and reassembled test the combination with the safe open several times before ever closing the safe.**** Once you are satisfied that the combination is working correctly close the door and test one last time before walking away.

Thanks for the feedback! I've got another question. The backmost tumbler is a little damaged, and bent about a 16th of an inch at the gap. Is that something that I need to replace, or will it be okay as long as I'm not too rough with it?

If it is damaged, I would not run it. If it is an antique, parts will be hard to find as well as expensive. Something modern just replace. Or you could try to find something similar on Facebook marketplace, people sell them cheap or give them away just to get the heavy boat anchor out of their way.

Thanks for watching the video. I am not sure where you live for that to be true. Master keys systems are installed all the time. Apartment buildings have them for maintenance to enter apartments for repairs, check for leaks, etc. Often times there is a Knox box on the outside of the building with a master key that the fire department has access to if needed.

@@detornodoesi know because i was working at a apartments back in the 90s when we was told to get rid of all the master keys we had to rekey all 400 units locks

If you are looking for that many I would suggest finding a locksmith distributor. Any visible leaks, look at the hoses for cracks in the outer cover. Check the end of all the cylinders (wiper seal on the gland nut) for dry or missing pieces. None of these things are a deal breaker just expensive when they let go especially if you can't repair it yourself . Check to make sure it can go in and out of 4 wheel drive, the linkage rod is kind of a joke. Any service records is a plus. Fluid changes are done by hours, make sure the meter works (mine didn't when I got it). If you have never run heavy equipment, it is not as powerful as you think it should be (at least not as powerful as my expectations). A thumb (depending what you are doing with i) is a great addition and not having the extend-a-hoe will make install easier.

I can with a more modern lock as well as the wheel pack that I had shown when I was showing the difference in size. I did not have a key for the old diebold.

I grinded down a long Allen wrench in the shape of the letter “D”. Dialed the combo, put the tool in through the wheel holes (from the back) twisted the tool 90’ maybe (which unlocked the wheels) dialed a new combination and then twisted the tool back to its original location. Wa-lah, combo changed!

@@chompnormski That is one way to do it. If you shape your home made key wrong or turn it too far or not far enough, you run the risk of damaging the wheel pack. If it is your own lock I say have at it; but for me, with a customers property, I would not risk it.
