Hi Donna lovely video as always. After I watched your video my mobile phone showed me a video of Matt cutting fabric for a rail fence quilt for you to make the next day. I found that video so calming. Matt's soothing voice and calm manner really had an effect on my day. We are on lockdown in London and feeling very frazzled he actually made me feel better. Thank you Matt. Long may you reign. ❤️👍😁👌
Thank you Donna I love so many guilt you made it I just want to start now because I realise that its time for me to learn this is easy even if im old I can make it Love you Donna
@@meriammonyane6518 hi, you won't regret starting to quilt. Its so rewarding and if you watch Matt and Donna's video tutorials you won't go far wrong, whatever age you are. My granddaughter has just received her first sewing machine and she is so keen to start sewing. She is 10 years old. Good luck.
That one simple little tip to use a dumbbell on one end of your template seems kind of simplistic until you try it. It has made a world of difference in keeping my cuts straight and reducing the strain on my hands. The second thing I've learned from you is the value of "finger pressing". I don't have beautiful nails like you so I'm just finger pressing, but this little trick has also helped my ironing immensely. Learning these kinds of things makes watching your videos so worthwhile to me. Out here in the Alaskan Bush, such expertise is usually hidden away. Thanks Donna for sharing your talents with all of us!! Blessing to you and yours!
I too went out an purchased a 5 lb. dumbbell and couldn't believe the difference it made. And the dumbbell are very, very easy on the pocketbook. For $5.00 you can't find a more helpful quilting aide. And I have to add that I too found the "peel the top layer back" carefully the best ironing tip yet. Love, love, love their videos!
I agree! Those dumbbells sure make cutting fabric a lot easier! When I told my husband I needed a dumbbell for sewing, he said, “of course you do.” Lol. He’s gotten pretty used to me saying I need “strange” things or to go Home Depot for sewing supplies. He just takes it in stride. When I told him I needed a 4foot metal ruler, he asked “why” and I got the same response. A few days later, I had a medical procedure that left me pretty sedated for the next 24 hours and in bed for 48. When I was finally able to get up, on the counter was a receipt for the ruler. It was already in my sewing room. Apparently, when we got home after my procedure, he went out and got it while I was still “knocked out”. A few weeks later, he found an 8 lb dumbbell on the side of the road and brought it to me. He figured it would be better than the 5 lb weight.
Pat Blood Amen! I would love to win one of her quilts! They’re beautiful! She’s a smart cookie and has an excellent eye for color! I would love to go visit their shop, but I’m on the other of the country, in Vermont. Lol. After watching a video, I can’t wait for the next one. She’s one of the few that I watch on a regular bases.
Yesterday I saw this quilt on display at one of the local shops, it was unbelievably beautiful. I would have purchased the fabric on the spot but wanted to see a video before hand because it looked so intimidating. The video changed my opinion of what to expect. The quilt was made using fat quarters, looks like lots of cutting will be needed for the project. In this video Donna reserves some of the long strips, she neglects to mention how those strips were used.
I check out your emails with new quilting patterns EVERY morning. It starts my day. I've purchased several Cozy Quilt designs and really like them. They are very easy to follow, but your tutorials answer any questions I may have. Now, I just wish I had all the space you have.
I love this quilt, it;s so clean looking. I love to watch you you make everything look so easy. Thank you for sharing, all the very best for 2024. I allways look forward to your new designs
Thank you for all of the tutorials. One thing that I haven't noticed is you mentioning the wadding that you use and if you are able to source wadding wide enough for your large quilts or whether you have to join two widths of wadding together.
I just finished making this for my cousin in 1930's fabrics. My first quilt i actually got money for! I'm still in shock. Thank you for making it look so easy.
Tube stripping, another great way to make it look like you worked harder than you did. I told another TH-camr about your weight to hold the ruler, you’re now famous for this ingenious prop. Donna, you and Matt stay safe and healthy, appreciate your staying with us making your marvelous videos.
Thank you for everything you do 😊 you are my new favorite person to watch. You explain everything so well and show things nicely so it’s easy for a beginner quilter to understand.
HI Donna, as usual your clear instructions make a daunting project "do-able". I must say, for me, your border choice truly compliments and sets off the strip colours. Beautiful job. TFS.
S C Donna makes everything look so easy, doesn’t she? Lol I’m amazed they’re able to put out a video sometimes twice a week. And the results are always superb!
Donna, I taught apparel design at a college for 34 years and I want to compliment you on your teaching style. You are so much fun to watch and you are very clear and concise. I am inspired by so many of the quilts and I am enjoying "playing" with sewing. Thank you,
My Covid Quilt! I may have commented on this before but needed to say more. If it hadn't been for this tutorial, I probably wouldn't have made it. You gave me the confidence to do it!. This is my first full size quilt (KING). I had the jelly roll strips for about two years - not enough to make a king. Fortunately, I did find more material online. The top is completed and just need to have it quilted and will probably go with the calm water stitching. Thank you! I love watching your tutorials and dream about making another quilt.
Thank you for your tutorials. I’ve never done quilting and haven’t sewed since I was young. I learned a lot from you and you inspired me to start quilting (I’m 69 and I suppose it’s never to late to start) 😂
I am really not a batiks person BUT after viewing the finished quilts I am amazed how beautiful they are. Your videos are always so well made and fun. My favorite materials are Kansas Troubles. I will have to break down and order some batiks one day. Thank you so much. Prayers that you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy.
Thank you Donna, Thank you too to your camera man and his editing. The process is well told and we learn as you sew. Great job. If those cranky pants who give you a thumbs down are faulting you on your respecting a copyrighted pattern, well so be it. I'm just glad to see the making process. I'll buy the pattern.
Many people want everything for free without supporting the business providing it. They have no idea, or respect, for the time and costs to keep a business floating these days, especially now. It's always heartening to read the comments on Donna's channel. Most folks are incredibly nice. I've only seen a few petty people who are too cheap to buy a $9.00 pattern. It's critically important to support these businesses if we are all to get through this.
On one of Cozy Quilts Designs videos, a woman actually said she was “reporting” the video to TH-cam, because the “quality” of the video wasn’t up to her standards. When I called her out in her rudeness. She insisted she had been a quilter for over 30 years and had NEVER seen such a horrible and unprofessional demonstration and CQD should be banned from the platform for not adhering to a “standard of excellence”. They record live presentations and sometimes the audio can be a bit of a problem at times. It happens. Not much you can do about it. However, this was not the case this time. She was just “cranky”. I swear, I have never seen such rudeness on display in all my life! Some people are just filled with hate and despise everyone and everything. I just don’t understand it myself. There is no need to be so hateful to people, even if something is wrong with the video. You don’t have to be nasty to make a complaint of a problem.
@@little1942 She was reporting CQD? Really? I love their videos. I think Danielle's a hoot. But by far I learn more from Donna and I buy all my CQD from Jordan Fabrics. I hope to move to that area when I grow up and retire someday. Thank you, Donna! You're my favorite.
Donna Rodriguez Yeah. This particular person was a “real treat”. I can’t imagine being that messed up in the head that I would report a “live” and free demonstration for poor “standard of excellency” to TH-cam administrators. Specifically, to get it off the air because she was offended over “quality” issues. And yes, she said she was doing just that. You may be able to find it if you scroll through the comment section. I agree wholly, with you. I love both woman for their differences in personalities and teaching styles. Donna is more focused on techniques whereas, Daniella is focused on teaching the pattern. Both have so much to offer the quilting community and I feel blessed to be able to learn from them all the way on the other side of the country! Vermont! Lol
Your videos are so helpful and fun to watch. Love how you show your thoughts on selecting the right thread color to quilt with. That really helps! Thank you Donna and Matt.
I love the colorway for this quilt, warm and glowing. Browns can be so boring, but this jelly roll was perfect. The tone-on-tone ivory background fabric and the golden quilting thread were the right choices.
I love this design, I plan to make it for a special friend who I know will love it. The batiks are just the perfect colour to show off the stars. Thank you for your videos I always learn something from them and I have been quilting for 40 years!.
