Just for notes for others the extended length of the spring/shock makes all the difference. I learned from your video and calculated the length I needed along with the amount of weight needed, I had to search hard for light load shocks but eventually found them.
If you want or need a full 90 degrees open you need slightly longer shocks, measuring the door and the opening is important !
    Excellent video thanks !

Mount the thicker side connector close to the hinge and you should be able to achieve maximum opening angle of the door.

What if you use them on a heavy door and they still can't squeeze to shorten? I bought the short ones like yours for the lighter door and the biggest ones for my heavy popup part of my camper. Neither will get to the compact stage. Am I missing something?

Kayla Jazzmin not sure....I know that a small adjustment on the location you put the mounts can make a world of a difference. The manuals that come with these are almost no help either

It seems you need two of them on that glass door. It does not open all the way on it's own. You had to pull it up. Another question is, will the shock hold it closed or is a latch required. This is why custom shocks cost 60.00 a pair. I bought expensive ones for my heavy wooden camper shell door but I'm buying these cheep ones for the trailer cabinets like the first ones you showed. I hope they work

I do not need the shock to open the door - just keep it open. They work just fine but I needed to probably mount them a little higher so it would open more. Thanks for the comment. BTW - all of these that I installed are still going strong in our Airstream.

I hate math problems like that. When my plastic J hook latches break luckily I only have tp replace the catch box using the existing holes. Seems crazy Airstream didn’t install something like this on your doors.

I would be on my 50th hole by the time i got it to work

LOL - it was kind of a pain with the crappy instructions included. But in the end I like not having to hold the damn door open when getting in there for something.

Why did you not have these figured out before you started. This is unwatchable.
