Top 5 Most Difficult in the Grand Campaign (Imo): 5. Ardeui. You're poor and your roster is pitiful- just pitiful. Only reason this faction isn't higher is because your life isn't at stake in the first few turns like the rest of the factions on the list. 4. Galatia- You're a Celtic tribe completely surrounded by Hellenic factions who want you gone. Even if you conquer your neighbors you have to spend time converting their culture. Very small margin for error. Did I mention you're land locked? 3. Carthage (Barcid Dynasty)- By turn 5 you'll be at war with at but not limited to: Rome, Syracuse, two+ Spanish tribes, and two+ African tribes. Unlike the Seleucid who faces a similar problem, these enemies are all on your doorstep. Your settlements are spread out across the ocean and you're too poor to defend them all. Your client states will grapple for survival along with you. 2. Tyliss- If you don't take out Macedon within the first few turns, you die. If you attack Macedon and fail, you die. If anyone joins Macedon in their war against you, you die. If a rebellion happens in the wrong town, you die. Notice a trend?? 1. All nomads. Sieging walled cities... yikes.
XCHAP YEG Carthage (Barcid) dynasty is not that bad .. you need to get rid of your city states like Libya to unit africa province .. this would give you extremely power .. since africa province is considered top 5 provinces in rome 2. You need to build up a strong fleet to stop the roman invasion too .. after 20 turn you will be fine .. i tried this in legendary difficulty and it have worked ;)
I can invade Rome with Ardiaei. I didn't play Rome 2 six years ago but I agree that Ardiaei still has a bad starting position. Good thing is that you have the opportunity to get all of Italy.
@@themandateofheaven4655 You can also just rush to Italy. I built one army to defend Iberia and another strong army to take Syracuse and then Rome. Carthaginian hoplites and cav will win you every battle against Rome. Rome might have strong legionaries but you will have cav and ele general which will win against AI
TheAnangrycharizard Ye, most of them came from the "news" videos. I don't have early acces to ATTILA unfortunately so growth is a lot slower know. Will probably take me at least 2 months for the next 1000. But I'm not complaining, people take the time to watch my videos! :D
The suebi are by far my favourite barbarians in the game. Good swordsmen, spear-carrying archers, berserkers, lots of units that scare enemies, cool looking units.... one of my favourites for multiplayer as well; I beat Romans with them.
They also always let you choose night battles which can cut off enemy reinforcement whilst giving an enemy army a morale penalty which compensate your lightly armed units
@@hvitekristesdodi recently started a campaign as them, being able to do night battles whenever you want is very nice, not to mention the scare ability. Scare + night battle = fast win for you
which 2 hoplites, because the marine is the 2nd best jav/spear mix unit in game, and the nobles and their normal hoplites are the only good units they have
Five worst faction in my opinion: 1-Ardiai: one of the worst possible units roster in term of power. Hoplite and noble hoplite are decent but if i wanted to rely on that, why not play one of the greek faction? :s 2-Colchis: I like them, but most of their units are weak and only their noble truly shine. I would like CA fix the bug that prevent me for recruiting them, that would be nice to use something else than standard hoplite in my campaing... 3-Odrysian Kingdom: noble hit like elephant on steroid but they take age to recruit and feel like a one trick faction to me. 4-Royal Scythia, good missile cavalry but i prefer the heavy armored units of the massagete or parthia. At least we can spam female units with them ^^ 5-Epirus/Seleucid: they have good/amazing unit roster but everyone hate them in the campaign
Adrianii Today are one of the best. They have very good spear men so they have a bonuses against cav,Not good in cav but in Chariots good,And a very good navy the Adrianii have been buffed and it’s a great faction.
For worst faction, Sparta should be on the list because they have absolutely no sword units and few choices of cavalrymen and on the campaign map, Sparta cannot trade because there is no port and is already at war with Epirus.
Mr Man no the only way to play as the Scottish tribes is mods and all the tribes in britenia are Celtic/Briton so the have the same units unless you find a unit mod
I'm told that this game spans from 270 BC to 28 AD. So why aren't the Judeans in this game? The Maccabee State existed between 141 to 63 BC; we all know Jerusalem and the Jewish people so why are they excluded?
+Yochanan TrueBiblicalChristianblog Simple. Because it starts at 270BC. And having a preset rebellion installing Macabee as a free state would just be annoying if you're playing as Seleucids/Egyptian
+Yochanan TrueBiblicalChristianblog I would love to have them as well but it propably really make sense since the game dont focus on what happend after starting year. But what is stupid is the fact that province was named Judea at this point renaming it to Phalestine took place during early AD after Jewish revolts. At least we have Himyar in Attila but it isnt as good as original Israeli kingdom.
if used correctly they are great. People overlook spearmen but spearmen hold a line so well, counter cavalry, and allow even the lightest troops to be used as shock troops from the flanks and rear. They also have some really good skirmishers which can devastate any general's unit. The best? Idk since you have to have a bit of skill to bear fruit.
the insubres and their short swords. I remember sending Evocati and eagle cohorts after them supported by wardogs and somehow lost a face to face battle. I don't think those are their real stats they display lo
Worst faction? Seleucid is a strong contender for this; not because of it's roster, but because of it's start position. They have a tendency to get completely swatted by everyone surrounding them. Even when you play as the Seleucid, it's really hard to defend your territories, and don't get me started on diplomacy with other factions. Unit roster is good though.
1st. Steppe faction: everyone knows what you're bringing, and they'll counter it easily. 2nd. Odrysians: Limited roster, ^ ^. 3rd. Ardiaei: Crappy AND limited roster! 4th. Suebi: Their prime was with the Suebi Scare Tactics, and that's gone. 5th. Arevaci: Crappy choices, crappy multiplayer.
1. karthago (i really love the idea to play as karthago but its just to hard because of the worst starting positions ever) 2. ardiaei 3. epirus 4. colchis 5. nervii
for next week id say worst faction probably macedon allthough their foot companions and companion cav are the best in terms of succesor units they still lack the heavier component, as for their campaign location it is too narrow because if u move your armies too far away from pella athens and sparta will betray u and take it
chikifco Illyrian Marines counter almost everything and even their weakest hoplites have expert charge defense and freakin' 105 armor. Lack of cavalry doesn't bother me, since my preferred faction in RTW were Greek States, who only had that awful Greek Cavalry.
Peragamon or the ardiei or how ever you spell it, neither of this factions have good units in general and I find it almost impossible to win a battle online with theses guys unless the enemy just got the game
i find peragmon to be a ok faction not the worst, i can normally work off a pike base with lancer cav support and agma spaers to hold the flank with normal archers or sligners depending on what faction im fighting.
my list is created bye campiagn and online battle videos along with Sunjetzus video on top 5 worst factions and mechanic vids so. 5. Sparta only can trade with Athens and only has spears and pikes for infantry and they are expensive the skirms are crap and only citizen cav they either have to betray there ally or race for appolonia to get a port, you have got enemys galore. 4. pergamon has horrible picked peltast considering there price everyones you enemy take Ephesus or die cause Tylis and the only guys you can trade with are either at war with you or just wont you have bad pikes and galatian swords only and Agema spears wheres the thureos, did i mention the horrible public order st the start of the campaign and the bad food sitiation the only people who might become ally's are macedon and rhodes and one of them dies in the first 3 turns to bad you need someswords to have a prayer against everyone. 3. odrysian kingdom has 2 sword infantry with no chance to block missles but at least kill everyone if they get the charge they have some spears but they are mercs you have some possible ally's in campaign but most factions can destroy you in multiplayer so skirmishing and fabian tactics are what you need to kill rome, even Pergamon is better if they can get some hoplites to absorb the charge of the thracians and pull out the bows and slings and javelins pergamon cause they will die to anyone you need to kill tribbalii and macedon to but macedon will be easy. 2. Ardeai or just bad illiyrian hoplites are your only prayer and mercs plus no allies. 1. cappadocia if they are even playable which i don't know these things all they have are east spearmen and slings the cappodocian cav is really all they have to fight against anyone if there not playable then Ardieia and bring everything down a notch and 5 would be syracuse.
Here are my picks in no particular order: The Ardiaei have no good melee units, no good skirmishers, and no good cavalry. So they're really one-dimensional. Though their raiding bonus is nice. Pergamon has a pretty good starting position, but their unit roster is terrible. The Massagetae have no melee cav, their cataphracts aren't much good, and their start isn't really the best. Colchis isn't really bad, but other factions can do its job in terms of units much better than Colchis can. Also, I believe the starting position is a bit hard. Aaand the Odrysian Kingdom. They have a very one-dimensional roster, but their starting position is OK, since you can ally up with the Getae and Tylis (but everyone else hates you).
suebi is the worst barbarian faction in the game. Their round shield warriors and other mid tier units cannot stand up against Celtic warriors and Chosen Swords men of Arverni and Boii in Very Hard/ Legendary Campaign. Swordmasters get wrecked by Oathsworn, Noble riders cannot beat even Heavy Horse without taking high casualties, Spears are good but they cannot hold up a line in pitched battles.

Noble swords?
Ardiaei- has one of the worst cavalry, weak infantry except for the 2 hoplites, bad starting position

What about gatae?!?! Their cheapest unit, the falx men, on a charge can take down up to 15 oathsworn
They do not suit for everything because their only melee inf are falxmen and noble swords. In multiplayer they can bring 4 axemen
