I like the fuel bowl. It houses an excellent filter and has water detection. But I prefer the regulated return coming off the opposite ends of the heads like Cat designed the HEUI. Been running an Aeromotive regulator for 20 years with no issues.

I have a 1997 ford f350 XLT 7.3L powerstroke I just rebuilt all 8 injectors. I also replaced all 8 glow plugs I had to re-do the injectors because I had oil in my fuel bowl from a bad injector o-ring which one idk but anyways I got it all put together and when I went to start it it wouldn't start my fuel pump is not turning on went though each of the fues/ relays under the hood and inside the cab they all were good I even checked for voltage at the glow plug relay/SOLONOID as well as continuity they are good I also checked for voltage at the fuel pump under the truck both front and rear got good voltage there my wait to start light comes on I got crank but no start bc fuel pump wont turn on I also located the fuel shut off switch behind the passenger side kick panel it has been bypass with a relay which it is good as well I don't know what else to do kinda hoping someone might have an idea what to do please help

Hey fyi. As a quick cheep option to check fuel pressure. Take one of the old slide out tire gauges. Set rpm you want to check it at. Push gauge on port and hold till the rod stops coming out. And read it. It’s fairly accurate. Watch out it can squirt a little. Is it right?? No.. will it work .. yes.

I don't see the link to the spring manufacturer. Also, is the spring higher or lower pressure? I know the Riff Raff fuel rail crossover includes stock and high and low pressure springs. Wondering what the benefit of higher or lower pressures are.
Is there something I could check for a smoking issue? At start up it’s clean after a minute or 2 at idle it starts to smoke if I rev the truck it puts out a big cloud and at idle it returns to hazing blue smoke. I have a new xdp turbo in June this is all a new issue started on the drive home on a 900mile trip. No oil in the fuel and no fuel in the cooling system. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Clint- I'm having trouble with an oil leak on my 7.3 and every mechanic (including Ford) tells me it is the rear main seal or an oil pan leak. I know from watching your videos and others that it just isn't but I can't figure it out and I am beyond frustrated. I think you still work on some 7.3s from time to time and I would like to hire you to repair this. I have tried to find your business online and can't. extremely low fuel pressure will cause a no start BUT it would smoke and spit spud unless the pump is shot / I do have several hot no start and no start vids that give basic overviews on every thing to look for If the ecm is bad a scanner would find it and a code reader would give a no communication I also have a IDM video how to spot a defunk unit
outstanding info on the 7.3 I am chasing a weird problem. when I start the 7.3 it struggles for about 10 sec like it's lacking something then it runs fine. i have followed your troubleshooting and damn near replaced everything including wiring harnesses with OEM parts. it has me stumped! any ideas where to go?
Yes i have watch alot of your videos his im a subsriber so i have a 1995 F250 7.3l i have replace everthing on valley all new hard lines and CNC Fab, Martys E fuel , 38 gallon tank sub kit on bottom and side tank as well new, new planiums at RiffRaff new KC stage 1 turbo, new computer as well still no wait to start on dash when i get home i work offshore Oil Field i got the new IPR motorcraft and ICP on my dresser and the new oil pump i half to take off to send in to RiffRaff to send my Oil Pump to me i mean i have spent alot of money on this truck with a new computer but I kept my old computer wasnt going to let that go but still no start but will crank strong tho, also and going to change glow plugs when i get home and gaskets on valve cover i have them too, its been sitting since 2012 under a tree and only has 154,000 miles bought it for $ 1800 dollars wow i could get a better truck got it November 4,2023 so i been throwing a lot of money watching your videos instead of buying another truck lol so when i put the CNC Fab on where do i put the heating element or heater wire off bowl to what i believe i saw a video to put it next to the oil filter there is a screw right next to it with a oil pressure sensor but the guy was talking way to fast lol so please help thanks

Clint , I cant get oil pressure in my 94 7.3. Changed the LPOP new oil and filter lubed it up good and no oil pressure. No oil in the HPOP. Any idea what to look at?
I clicked on the link on your video but it doesn’t take me anywhere to get the spring , also, I have a 1997 f350 4x4 PowerStroke that I have owned since new, I’m 69+ years old and replacing the lift pump, fuel lines from the bowl to the front of the engine, rebuilt the fuel bowl and pressure regulator and wanted to replace the Parker sleeve o-rings on the steel lines that run from the banjo body to the back of the heads and on the passenger side rear head due to the fitting being under the turbo and factory down pipe I can’t figure out how to remove it much less put it back on. I have tried line wrench, a crows foot open end and can’t get on it. I have hands that take a XL glove so was wondering if you can please help me with a trick of the trade or something. I really don’t won’t to remove the turbo as I am not a Machanic and would rather leave it alone. My truck has 116,000 miles on it but it is now fixing to be driven more as I have been recently forced into retirement. ☹️ Can you please give me some advice? I clicked on the link, and ordered one last week. Just installed it. My 97 already feels better on the test drive. The brass nut on yours is a 3/4 on the front driver side corner. Very easy to remove. I put a towel underneath just to catch the spring. Used a magnet to grab the spring and get it out. Popped new one in and replaced brass cap. Took 5 min.

I don't want my business bothered by interruptions many You tube guys have found this out the hard way . But I can tell ya for drive line, Machine Service of green bay does all of our drive shaft builds. Engine is Manitowoc Motor Machine Service these guys are excessively driven for perfection. The rest I do in my shop including transmissions , Frame building and other custom applications

Hey I have a question I am completely stumped. I have a 2001 ford excursion with a 7.3. Is there a sensor or a relay that controls fuel bowl. Because I just replaced the fuel heater (w.i.f) sensor. Power is not going through to the heater element. The harness that plugs into the sensor gets power but the element won’t get warm and doesn’t warm up the fuel. What could the issue be. Could it be it’s not getting a ground i have no idea?
The way it works is 12v is always on the heater, it never shuts off from the cpu. The heater is mounted on the 3 pads. These pads are thermistor, meaning a temperature sensitive resistor. One side of these thermistor is connected to ground through the mounting of the heater plate, the heater element is connected to the other side. 12v is always on the heater side whenever the ignition key is on, these mounting pads (thermistor) sit at a low ohm condition when fuel is cold basically grounding the other side of the heater so 12v heats the heater. When the fuel temperature starts rising, these thermistor resistance starts rising, so less voltage is dropped across the heater until gradually the thermistor are high enough ohms where no heat is generated by the heater. hard to say with a definate answer how long the heater is on or if the heater ever actually shuts off 100%. Basically a thermal switch in concept and works great except the solder breaks and the element falls off the thermistors and no run from a blown fuse. This should clear up the question Clint / Custom Works
@ my wait to start light still works in my truck. So my fuse isn’t blowned. And also I put a new heater element in the fuel bowl to could it be bad already. So could it be just a bad fuel bowl even though I just put a new sensor in it? And I just dipped my finger in the fuel bowl and it’s not warming up. I live in Arizona and having starting issues.
@@hunterlindner9840 I can't tell you what your issue is with out seeing and hooking up to it . Here is the top issues and the fuel heater isn't the cause /// batteries, starter, fuel pressure, low or bad oil, clogged air filter, IPR, failing HPOP, Leaking injectors, wire harness
@@CUSTOMWORKS7.3PSD ok and when I leave the truck plugged in overnight it will start right up and run n drive good. I only have the starting issue during the cold start. But after it warms up no starting issue. But so far I replaced batteries, starter, EOT sensor, EBP sensor, and gpcm. I have a new ipr and a icp sensors. I will install tonight and hopefully that’s the issue. I also have no engine lights on.
I'm not sitting in front of your truck But that is usually a indication of a failing HPOP To diagnosis you can do a dead head test with a pressure gauge to confirm or hook up a gauge to the head and drive it under load and see if the pressure is dropping of as you increase load

Yes they can be brought back to working condition if the solenoid is good , coat all the internal parts with a hyperlube like motorkote

Quick question sir. I have a 96 7.3. Running 238/80 and a stage 3 KC300x. Will this spring stop the ICP pressure to low/high CEL light?
I feel like with 370,000 miles it must be stock and robbing of my fuel which in turn is defueling on a hard pull.

The way it works is 12v is always on the heater, it never shuts off from the cpu. The heater is mounted on the 3 pads. These pads are thermistor, meaning a temperature sensitive resistor. One side of these thermistor is connected to ground through the mounting of the heater plate, the heater element is connected to the other side. 12v is always on the heater side whenever the ignition key is on, these mounting pads (thermistor) sit at a low ohm condition when fuel is cold basically grounding the other side of the heater so 12v heats the heater. When the fuel temperature starts rising, these thermistor resistance starts rising, so less voltage is dropped across the heater until gradually the thermistor are high enough ohms where no heat is generated by the heater. hard to say with a definate answer how long the heater is on or if the heater ever actually shuts off 100%. Basically a thermal switch in concept and works great except the solder breaks and the element falls off the thermistors and no run from a blown fuse.

@ my wait to start light still works in my truck. So my fuse isn’t blowned. And also I put a new heater element in the fuel bowl to could it be bad already. So could it be just a bad fuel bowl even though I just put a new sensor in it? And I just dipped my finger in the fuel bowl and it’s not warming up. I live in Arizona and having starting issues.
@@hunterlindner9840 I can't tell you what your issue is with out seeing and hooking up to it . Here is the top issues and the fuel heater isn't the cause /// batteries, starter, fuel pressure, low or bad oil, clogged air filter, IPR, failing HPOP, Leaking injectors, wire harness
@@CUSTOMWORKS7.3PSD ok and when I leave the truck plugged in overnight it will start right up and run n drive good. I only have the starting issue during the cold start. But after it warms up no starting issue. But so far I replaced batteries, starter, EOT sensor, EBP sensor, and gpcm. I have a new ipr and a icp sensors. I will install tonight and hopefully that’s the issue. I also have no engine lights on.

I'm not sitting in front of your truck But that is usually a indication of a failing HPOP To diagnosis you can do a dead head test with a pressure gauge to confirm or hook up a gauge to the head and drive it under load and see if the pressure is dropping of as you increase load
