Nioh 2 will go down as one of my favorite games of all time. It’s fairly well known but it still doesn’t have nearly as much recognition as it should. I feel like people assume it sucks because people call it a souls like copy, when in reality it doesn’t feel like souls at all- the combat system is way better, leagues better.

But I def agree with the fact that it’s annoying how everyone compares it to souls games, my point was i actually enjoy it more than souls games. And like I said I’m someone that loves fromsoft and has put thousands of hours into Their games. And I never understood why they didn't just have an option to toggle the prompts off if you wanted to. Great game, but some of those decisions were dumb.
Batman Arkham Knight has by far the worst NG+ mode ever. The game trains you for 20 hours to play one way then out of nowhere forces max difficulty on you in NG+, complete with removing the hit prompts, instead of simply unlocking that new difficulty for you to play if you want. Armored Core 6 definitely has one of my favorite NG+ iterations. Its an amazing evolution of what they did with Last Raven and For Answer before it. All the mechanics of building and customizing your AC encourage replaying missions to try different builds anyway. So adding extra story stuff when you do makes perfect sense.

Starfield’s New Game Plus is amazing. Even unlocking it is pretty mind-blowing. Yeah, you do lose all your stuff but you also get super cool new stuff, and unlock a ton of branching narratives and more choice and consequence. I’m loving it.
Calling you out, Falcon! Where is the OG of the term “New Game +”? Chrono Trigger not only allowed you to start again with everything, but by doing so allowed you to experience multiple endings by killing Lavos (or doing other things) at different points in the story! That changed the narrative immensely! I will call out that Chrono Cross went further by allowing you to get Serge replaced in various battles along with requiring 3 full play throughs to get every character and 100% the game! With its vast array of characters, this opened up numerous story tidbits and opportunities for different reactions to the same storylines. If your baseline is AC:Mirage, the entire Chrono series should be higher than that! Edit: let’s not forget the original Legend of Zelda making the entire game brand new -- dungeons, enemies, overworld locations….all changed.
spiderman 2 still not having new game plus or any other cool DLCs right now is so disappointing. i don't wanna hear the hack excuse, we should have had it at launch.
I actually don't like it when NG+ "gives us new missions". It feels like the devs just want to pad out the game time by having us played thru the campaign, twice or more, that's 80%ish the same; just so we can get to the "new" missions.
Love NG+. I welcome it for just about any game. When it is done well, it elevates the game for me, as I really enjoy the additions when replaying it. Used to be a thing, then it went away mostly. Glad it seems to be coming back!
This is the only gaming channel I watch. Feel like I always get good recommendations from videos like this one, and of course the before you buys are an essential watch for me.
Let's make a list of some classic ones: -Metal Gear Solid (you keep the item that the ending give you and can go after the other ending) -Dark Souls 2 (Adds different enemies, reveals the great souls from the first game, etc.)
Ain't no way you guys haven't put Ghost of Tsushima here: New Game + starts after the prologue directly into the open world You get a new colored horse You unlock the white dye merchant and black dye merchant to customize ALL clothing in the game New difficulty modes and SPOILER ALERT The fact that there are 2 endings really makes it worth it
Shadow Of Memories : Once you've uncovered the truth (by unlocking enough endings), you get new dialogue options during your 'first' meeting with Homunculus, where you remember all your time travels from the previous playthroughs and reach the very last ending in a matter of minutes. Eternal Darkness - Sanity's Requiem : In each playthrough, you'll have to pick up a different artifact, out of the three available. Not only will this affect whichever Ancient Eldritch being you'll have to fight (and which minions will be most prevalent in the game), but, after your third playthrough, all previous three timelines are merged into one where only a fourth abomination survives and reigns supreme. Spider-Man (PS1) : Not really a new game +, but you can unlock 'What If ?'. In that mode, dialogues and sounds are changed, to make the game absolutely hilarious. For instance, some enemies will parody Apocalypse Now, by singing Wagner's Ride Of The Valkyries, while you are being chased by helicopters. Instead of Venom trying to crush Spider-Man, he'll tickle him. Instead of Mary Jane urging Spider-Man to 'pull the switch' to save her, she'll call him an idiot, if he takes too long.
Not watched the whole video, and if Dragons Dogma 1 hasn't been mentioned, some of the enemies get more powerful and change to more dangerous variants.
Why don’t you guys ever mention Ghost of Tsushima?! The game fits perfectly in many videos you guys make and it’s never mentioned. For example, NG+ not only does it give you amazing charms and several armor dyes and masks, but the difficulty Lethal+ is actually lethal, plus you get 3 curses that give the game an even harder challenge. Don’t sleep on the ghost please.
I really hope dragons dogma 2 has a fairly decent new game plus. Totally get it if they couldn't do much, if anything at all though. I'm just grateful DD2 is a thing❤
If starfield let you save your "schematics" for ship and outpost layouts the new game+ would easily be one of the best out there and a defining feature of the game
I haven't played Horizon Zero Dawn has an amazing NG+ that allows you to continue to improve your gear beyond just the first NG+ run and it looks like Horizon Forbidden West's NG+ is just as amazing. I can't wait for HFW's release next month.

FF7 Remake has an amazing NG+/Hard mode system where your level is fixed at the cap and you cant use items. Makes balancing for a really tight experience easier so the HM becomes a literacy check for the rpg systems.
I enjoyed Atomic Hearts NG+ a lot. Infact, I enjoyed my second playthrough significantly more than my first playthrough bc I fully understood the combat, how the systems worked, and was used to the "jank". the ng+ upped the difficulty to max and it randomized traits enemies would have (like some would move faster, some would be suicide bombers and explode, some had extra strength, others had more health, etc).
take a look at Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter. This often overlooked ps2 classic featured a system where you received a score at the start of the game, starting at 1/5012 or something. Every new game plus cycle you get a new score depending on certain conditions you met in the previous cycle, going up to 1/4. The higher your score, the more locked doors are unlocked, the more cutscenes play and the more of the story you unlock
New Game + is practically a necessity for me at this point. You made me suffer for X amount of hours to finish the story. Now it's my turn to be the menace.
Final fantasy 7 remake has one of the most entertaining new game plusses that I’ve played it adds new boss battles in the simulators and the game it self is just way way harder than it is in the first play through so you have to strategise correctly to get the right characters with the right skills materia that I found useless in my first play through became a crucial tool during my second and my character builds were completely different.
Dark souls 2 has one of the best and most creative ng+ system ever in my opinion even those who don't like the game can agree shame it wasn't used in the other souls games.
The fact that Gameranx is trying to revive Immortals of Aveum says a lot. A New Game + mode doesn't make a boring game better... 😴 Steam count was down to double digits two (2) weeks after release.
Mass Effect had an awesome NG+ you could keep all your gear from previous playthoughs, just like other games, but ME did it differently. For example; in ME1, when you’d land on Eden Prime, the enemies were equally at the same level as Shepard, so if you managed to get to level 50 in the original version, they would be the same. But in the Legendary Edition, you would reach level 60, and in a NG+, the enemies were far more challenging, making Insanity mode a tough but far more enjoyable experience.
Not directly related, but I appreciate any game that allows you to toggle your new game plus perks. Being able to choose what I want to bring and level gives the choice of being able to keep your build that you grinded to get, while also allowing the base game to still remain relatively challenging. I think what people want out of NG+ changes depending on the person and the game, so having the option is god-tier.
this list requires a part 2 1) Skyrim "Legendary" ... your most used skill , you get to reset it 2) ME SoW "Brutal Difficulty" ... you are an assassin , you dont own the place "even if you do" , so sneak around 3) almost any roguelike with extra difficulty & rewards multiplier ... so anything from "Hades" till "Bastion"
Armored core last raven blows every games in this list, they have 6 different paths and endings, they also gives you new missions, new enemies, new contents, new unlocks and especially secret bosses

How could you not mention Final Fantasy 16? Literally the best new game plus mode there is! 'Final Fantasy mode' is amazing! All summons and completely new enemies and layout etc.
you have no idea how mad* I was going to be if you didn't mention Armored Core 6. The NG+ and ++ are actually kind of pivotal to the overall story.. I kind of wish they had an explanation of why things were happening differently but I am happy with the changes... and third ending.

The list is specifically for 2023 games. I like your picks, though!
Nier automata is the best for this, followed by nier replicant, than alan wake 2 imo
spiderman 2 still not having new game plus or any other cool DLCs right now is so disappointing. i don't wanna hear the hack excuse, we should have had it at launch.
Borderlands 3 being missed off this is madness 😢
Let's make a list of some classic ones:
-Metal Gear Solid (you keep the item that the ending give you and can go after the other ending)
-Dark Souls 2 (Adds different enemies, reveals the great souls from the first game, etc.)
Ain't no way you guys haven't put Ghost of Tsushima here:
New Game + starts after the prologue directly into the open world
You get a new colored horse
You unlock the white dye merchant and black dye merchant to customize ALL clothing in the game
New difficulty modes
and SPOILER ALERT
The fact that there are 2 endings really makes it worth it
Shadow Of Memories : Once you've uncovered the truth (by unlocking enough endings), you get new dialogue options during your 'first' meeting with Homunculus, where you remember all your time travels from the previous playthroughs and reach the very last ending in a matter of minutes.
Games, along with the New Game+, they should also have a randomizer mode by default to enrich the replayability
YUP. New Game+ is always the best thing to see after you beat a game for even more enjoyment. 👍
daily dose of gameranx is therapy
Metal gear solid 3 new game + is pretty good
I'd love to see more of these lists, new game plus is something I haven't really tried in the past, but this list got me interested in trying.
the different endings of nier games aren't new game+ , they are essentially one campaign split into 5
Not watched the whole video, and if Dragons Dogma 1 hasn't been mentioned, some of the enemies get more powerful and change to more dangerous variants.
Video idea: top 10 voice acting performances in video games
Barrett in FF7R has to be on that list
At least 3 spots would go for the Legacy of Kain franchise. And Batman and Joker from Arkham. Needs to be a top 20, maybe. But I like this idea.
Gameranx videos help me sleep
I can't wait for HFW's release next month.
i did play ng+ all i gotta say its much faster to play thru it if only you have the special armor played it because steam 100% but if u go for 100% collect the stuff before ng+ gonna do that with west too
@@ItzDnZ The unique weapon and armor mods from the DLC also make your weapons much more powerful, especially if you play through 3-4 times. You can downright trivialize Ultra Hard with Banuk weapons with 3-4 unique mods.
@@geoffrogue3049 i completed the story with those basic weapons on normal then did sidequest and oh man o man the sidequest armor is worth it then started doing dlc stuff and got every banuk piece expect 1 armor i think also the dlc area is 100% done but the special armor saved my ass multiple times in ng+ cus i needed to play it hardest diff (played it lastly after getting everything else) but i wish i knew about the sidequest armor sooner but well i didnt want to get any spoilers soo
@@geoffrogue3049 i think i had best mods on those banuk weapons when i started ng+
@ItzDnZ You can obtain another one copy of those unique mods every playthrough. Four playthroughs and you can outfit the best mods into every weapon.
FF7 Remake has an amazing NG+/Hard mode system where your level is fixed at the cap and you cant use items. Makes balancing for a really tight experience easier so the HM becomes a literacy check for the rpg systems.
DMC 5 new game plans is a must. You get to unlock new moves, new endings, and play as Vergil
Interesting list. Great video once again!
If i had to add one though, itd metro exodus. It has some pretty great modifiers and changes.
I so wish that Control had a new game plus.
Remedy has done such an amazing job at creating an amazing world throughout their games.
When i open youtube i dont know when i searched gameranx i just know that i am watching it.
take a look at Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter.
Resident evil 4 remake was the best game in the series It has so much replay value the parry mechanic is 🔥😍
Armor core was one for the few games I played multiple times without it feeling like a chore. It was the perfect gameplay length for quick replays
Days Gone's survival mode:
-no fast travel
-no detective vision that locates enemies for you
Dead Rising:
-food items don't respawn once you use them.
I loved Jedi Survivor's purity perk, makes it feel like a real lightsaber again haha
Dark souls 2 has one of the best and most creative ng+ system ever in my opinion even those who don't like the game can agree shame it wasn't used in the other souls games.
It’s a shame cyberpunk 2077 hasn’t got a new game+ yet. Really disappointing.
The fact that Gameranx is trying to revive Immortals of Aveum says a lot. A New Game + mode doesn't make a boring game better... 😴 Steam count was down to double digits two (2) weeks after release.
New Game plus needs to be the standard
Mass Effect had an awesome NG+ you could keep all your gear from previous playthoughs, just like other games, but ME did it differently. For example; in ME1, when you’d land on Eden Prime, the enemies were equally at the same level as Shepard, so if you managed to get to level 50 in the original version, they would be the same. But in the Legendary Edition, you would reach level 60, and in a NG+, the enemies were far more challenging, making Insanity mode a tough but far more enjoyable experience.
I'm struggling to go through Alan Wake 2 for the first time, would never feel encouraged to play a second time
Always here for a Falcon video 😎
Falcon and Jake are the same person just using voice change
Not directly related, but I appreciate any game that allows you to toggle your new game plus perks. Being able to choose what I want to bring and level gives the choice of being able to keep your build that you grinded to get, while also allowing the base game to still remain relatively challenging. I think what people want out of NG+ changes depending on the person and the game, so having the option is god-tier.
this list requires a part 2
1) Skyrim "Legendary" ... your most used skill , you get to reset it
2) ME SoW "Brutal Difficulty" ... you are an assassin , you dont own the place "even if you do" , so sneak around
3) almost any roguelike with extra difficulty & rewards multiplier ... so anything from "Hades" till "Bastion"
But more games need to do it where it changes the story and the atmosphere.
Armored core last raven blows every games in this list, they have 6 different paths and endings, they also gives you new missions, new enemies, new contents, new unlocks and especially secret bosses
I still dont understand how GoT Ragnarok + wasnt even mentioned...its actually MORE story. A true epilogue!
I like how they make a game more Worth it. ❤
But sadly i will never experienced it, because i always have so many games waiting to be played (atm 70 games in plastic 😅)
Gotta love RDR2 for taking the whole swimming mechanic out of the game playing as John to keep the lore of the first game
I only watch Gameranx because of Falcon. Just love your videos Mr Bird!
How could you not mention Final Fantasy 16? Literally the best new game plus mode there is! 'Final Fantasy mode' is amazing! All summons and completely new enemies and layout etc.
I have so many great games in my backlog there's just no time for NG+... 😢
you have no idea how mad* I was going to be if you didn't mention Armored Core 6. The NG+ and ++ are actually kind of pivotal to the overall story.. I kind of wish they had an explanation of why things were happening differently but I am happy with the changes... and third ending.
And now companies charge for NG+. And gamers pay for it.
Not a Gameranx video without a Fromsoft game being on the list
Yeah, definitely getting tired of hearing about them. Never really played a Fromsoft game that I liked.
