@@pulpfrancis218 Well - It's a bit unfair to compare a 14 year old game technique and engine with modern day stuff. For it's time it is a game that, although imperfect, still is better than a LOT of "modern" games. Yeah that was about the least of the problems with that game. Compared to picking three different colored endings that all effectively annihilated the universe and characters you loved (I know they retconned some of it later with a lame slideshow, but still), hearing Buzz was fine.

That's after shit at Altissia hits the fan. The boys are mostly having fun before then (you know, despite both Gladio and Noctis having confirmed parents that have been killed by the Empire, and Noctis essentially no longer having a kingdom...)
Heh. I know of one that's awkward even for gamers, lol. Chapter 9 of Final Fantasy 7: Remake. You get to a part where Cloud can be given a hand massage (the choice made I believe affects either his later outfit in that chapter or Aerith's). If you pick the luxury massage, you pretty much listen to Cloud have an orgasm over a hand massage 😅. When he finally walks out and returns to the waiting room (which takes him a moment), he does this feather-light sweep against the wall with his hand, clearly blissed out of his mind, lol. You would not want anyone walking in on that moment.
The Crisis Core scene has some deep meaning tho. The three sitting kind of meant reuniting the three friends together again, like the old times. It's...pretty sad tho, thinking that one of them went batshit crazy and the other one is dead.
Yeah, I recall seeing the lyrics in a book in the game, there’s enough Elvish spoken to get the gist that it’s sung around the time the ancient elves would enter eternal sleep iirc.
I now remember the cup noodles thing and honestly it was so bizarre it didn’t even register with me that it was an advertisement. I thought it was some kind of dadaist humor
I’m honestly shocked you didn’t have any Resident Evil in this list. There are so many moments to pick from. Possibly the most ridiculous being: Steve struggling to deal with his zombie father in Code Veronica 😂
SO MUCH YES on the Cup Noodle quest. I absolutely love Final Fantasy XV, but that one specific quest and the dialogue that goes with it just makes me want to crawl under a rock. It is just so awful, and then you have to do it multiple times if you want to 100% fill the bestiary because two of the monsters you have to fight to get the special ingredient are unique-named variants of pre-existing monsters that have their own individual entries in the bestiary rather than being lumped in with their more common counterparts.
Bird, I know we're both old enough to realize that number 8 is just an excellent example of the old-school way of product advertisement in a live television show or radio show...it's hilarious how out of time that felt!
I had this just playing while I was gaming and number 1 came around and I actually spit my drink out and made my friends concerned for my wellbeing with how hard I was laughing.
You would've laughed playing it as well! I think more people understood the comedy of it than those who were straight up mad about it. Falcon here is in the minority, and it's certainly his opinion to have. But Square Enix also had a revised version of a launch trailer that also pretty much threw Cup Noodle placement all over the place so they DID prepare the public and show how silly they were being (but of couse, yes, please buy some Cup Noodle, lol). By the time Gladio gets to the hilarious "Ultimate flavor experience!" line, it's pretty clear the segment isn't taking itself too seriously.
I had no clue about the Cup Noodles one but all I could picture was the English voice actor thinking that the Director is completely trolling him in the recording booth.
James Arnold Taylor's VA work was the sole reason I couldn't take the character of Tidus seriously. It really broke my investment and immersion in the story.
There's a mod that someone made for the voices in the early Megaman x games where he got both the voices of X and Zero from X8 and it's fucking beautiful. I'm so happy they literally voiced the lines for a modder.
You should see the making of Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties! It all makes sense when you think of how much had to be sacrificed to get anything on a CD back then.
Number 6: JASOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNN in the middle of the ending is hilarious, you can press x to jason in one of the endings, but if you press x throughout the rest of the mission and and through the cutscenes, it still works, it's a glitch, and it's funny
In the case of Kingdom Hearts 2, the overly long “sacrifice” of Ansem the Wise was also pretty cringeworthy. He talked and warned FOREVER, then his device exploded completely on queue instead of “at any moment”. Worst time for monologuing, ruined the story flow.
Did not occur to me at the time that “The Ultimate Flavor Experience” was a serious ad when I played FFXV, but I greatly disliked Gladiolus for the rest of my play through and this explains why.
Nah, Ethan's one liners were great, since it leans more toward just him really having enough of Miranda's bullshit rather than "I'm trying to quip but I don't know how."
Everyone talks about Volition, but nobody remembers the punisher. That was my favorite game as a teenager with a very limited game library but over 100 punisher comics. It captured the character so well, bad guys were corny but had some genuinely funny moments (blows off Italian mobsters leg, mobster crab walks backwards with 3 remaining limbs and says “shit, shit, shit! It’ll grow back right?😂), and over 300 different special kills and interrogations that were super savage. Personal classic that no one knows about.
Not to ruin a cringe moment (Genesis is super cringe) but re: Crisis Core, the apple thing at the end actually has a reason (I think). If you look at the note (I think it's a note?) when you enter Genesis' old place, where they were making dumbapple juice or something. He wrote a note as a kid saying his dream was sharing a dumbapple with the Hero Sephiroth or something. I think that part is a callback to that. That's why Zack says something like "Sorry I'm not the real thing" or something. I can't remember all the details.
I love Kingdom Hearts and I play through the games a few times a year but I always skip KH2 Atlantica. Only reason to ever go through that torture is to get a synthesis material needed for Ultima Weapon.
Leliana's Song has lyrics. She is singing in the elven language in English elder your time is come now I am filled with sorrow weary eyes need resting heart has become grey and slow in waking sleep is freedom we sing, rejoice we tell the tales we laugh and cry we love one more day
I disagree entirely about the stargazer opinion 😂 I feel the voice acting was done very well and I don't feel it's cringy at all just vague and mysterious 😅 it honestly felt like they were doing a "mass effect will return" kind of thing 🙂 just my opinion though coming from someone that loves the endings at least with the extended cut
I think a good voice director makes a lot of difference when having celebrities do voice acting. It's certainly possible to have people that are inexperienced in voicework still put in a decent performance, if there's a good director to guide them.
I love MegaMan, Zero is my favorite character ever and never in my life did I expect the "What am I fighting for?" to be Number 1 🤣🤣 Yes, it's so bad (No the worst I have seen from MegaMan though 😂) Glad to see gameranx go to a classic for a list 😂❤️
I love the quick quippy language. I don't know if it was invented with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but I think that probably brought it to popularity. I still enjoy that kind of dialogue. It may not be "realistic", but everything I see it in isn't representing the "real" world, so I don't see what the problem is. Really the only thing that I felt was cringe was the FF commercial for cup noodles. Most of what you covered was not...great dialogue, but it wasn't beyond awful.
Let's just say that it's just a victim of oversaturation by this point. It works in Buffy, it works in Doctor Who (it helps that the Doctor is alien, and is established to not get how humans speak at all), it works in Merlin (the repartee between Merlin and Arthur in the 2008 TV series), it works in the MCU (when they're not being stupid about it, as in bits of Phase 4), it works for Dragon Ball Z Abridged, and it works in Hi-Fi RUSH. The problem is when people assume that it works all the time; as Forspoken and the Saints Row reboot show, it doesn't.
The cup noodles one killed me, but what made it better for me, is i took a photo of it. The forced cup noodle segment was so bad that it became good. They even included it in the Gladio DLC ! 😂😂😂
I always thought the live action scenes in Resident Evil 1 were bad but Mortal Kombat gives it a run for its money. 😂
The Crisis Core scene has some deep meaning tho. The three sitting kind of meant reuniting the three friends together again, like the old times. It's...pretty sad tho, thinking that one of them went batshit crazy and the other one is dead.
Leliana's Song (Number 9) is not gibberish! Its elvish (Elven Song of Mourning). You can find the codex translation to english in the game.
Yeah, I recall seeing the lyrics in a book in the game, there’s enough Elvish spoken to get the gist that it’s sung around the time the ancient elves would enter eternal sleep iirc.
Iris!
Iris!!
Just those 2 words alone cracked me up😂😂
Man, there are so many in the Yakuza series that the cringe becomes hilarious.
I believe most of those moments are on purpose though.
Yeah, me too. Mostly the romance scenes "will they, won't they" cringe the heck outta me. But I think there might be cultural differences there too .
Yakuza shouldn't count. It's like Shenmue. Without utter cringe it just loses itself.
I mean, when the game has a quest for the mc to watch a ton of soft porn and they even hired actual AV actresses... they earned a little silliness
Probably more so in Yakuza 0
I now remember the cup noodles thing and honestly it was so bizarre it didn’t even register with me that it was an advertisement. I thought it was some kind of dadaist humor
Leliana's song is one of my fondest memories of Dragon Age Origins. So your cringe is not my cringe, mate.
Also: Buzz Aldrin is just fine.
I’m honestly shocked you didn’t have any Resident Evil in this list. There are so many moments to pick from. Possibly the most ridiculous being: Steve struggling to deal with his zombie father in Code Veronica 😂
Every second of every David Cage game ever. The dialogue makes me embarassed 😂
The best part about that Mass Effect epilogue is that the child was just a miniature adult 3D model lol.
Leliana's Song was one of the finest moments of the game
SO MUCH YES on the Cup Noodle quest. I absolutely love Final Fantasy XV, but that one specific quest and the dialogue that goes with it just makes me want to crawl under a rock. It is just so awful, and then you have to do it multiple times if you want to 100% fill the bestiary because two of the monsters you have to fight to get the special ingredient are unique-named variants of pre-existing monsters that have their own individual entries in the bestiary rather than being lumped in with their more common counterparts.
If we're talking cringiest video game cutscenes, this could have easily been a David Cage/Quantic Dream list.
SEAN!!!

"I wanted to crawl into a hole and die from second-hand embarrassment" Legit made me laugh. Thanks Falcon.
First off, please make this a series. Second, I’ve never played FFXV and the cup noodle scene had me laughing my ass off watching this
Same
You would've laughed playing it as well!
Yes
Let's make our noodle dream a reality.
I had no clue about the Cup Noodles one but all I could picture was the English voice actor thinking that the Director is completely trolling him in the recording booth.
Gameranx is the watchmojo of video games
I actually really like those musical moments in Kingdom hearts 2 😅 its a great break away from constant button mashing and an all around fun time ❤
Yeah but it was still wtf mini game
I thought he was gonna put FFX laugh scene lmao I was ready to throw hands
James Arnold Taylor's VA work was the sole reason I couldn't take the character of Tidus seriously. It really broke my investment and immersion in the story.
The Heavy Rain commentary was hysterical. The murder analogy did me in.
I feel like you encapsulated exactly what it felt like watching that heavy pain scene. Bravo falcon!
There's a mod that someone made for the voices in the early Megaman x games where he got both the voices of X and Zero from X8 and it's fucking beautiful. I'm so happy they literally voiced the lines for a modder.
I was certain I was going to see the OG RE1, so many cringe moments between the real actors acting and jill sandwich, the master of unlocking
I think the RE Franchise was excluded because it's mostly considered so bad its funny!
The voice acting and dialogue in that game is funny and memorable, almost every single line in that game is essentially poetry.

"I dont want to kick a dog while its down" proceeds to absolutely destroy an entire generation of films, games, and sub par television. I. LOVE. IT.
The second hand embarrassment in this... it was great!
Needs to be the next series of videos at Gameranx. Anytime we get moments of Falcon unable to contain laughter, I'm in.
Love your videos! Amazing quality as always!
Thanks
Love u too 😘
Legendary video 😂 I laughed so much I cried at how funny Falcon is lol 😂 Best video you’ve ever put out.
You guys went hard on number 10 lol I would have sworn it was number 1 😂
I love Falcon’s complaining videos. The tone of his voice sounds like he’s always so baffled LMAO.
Another game that deserves a mention is Fahrenheit aka Indigo Prophecy also from Quantic Dream. The scenes from that game could fill this whole list.
We all understand that it is blatant advertising, but man, that Gladius Cup Noodles tangent is absolutely hilarious!
To be fair to NBA2k15, a LOT of basketball players really do talk like that when they're not out with their homies.
Yeah, why do they sound like they're mumbling when interviewed?
In the case of Kingdom Hearts 2, the overly long “sacrifice” of Ansem the Wise was also pretty cringeworthy. He talked and warned FOREVER, then his device exploded completely on queue instead of “at any moment”. Worst time for monologuing, ruined the story flow.
Did not occur to me at the time that “The Ultimate Flavor Experience” was a serious ad when I played FFXV, but I greatly disliked Gladiolus for the rest of my play through and this explains why.
“She’s your SISTER!?!?” In 12 Minutes -Narrated by William Dafoe? WTF?!? Easily one of the worst moments in gaming history!
The stargazer thing is weird, but I don't think Buzz did a bad job at all. It's an odd thing to be asked to do for a non industry person.
Oh man, the comparison between the SR Reboot scene and a sitcom is so apt. That apartment scene looks like it was written with a laugh track in mind.
RE8 Ethan's epic one liners after killing the bosses really makes your skin crawl with cringe
Nah, Ethan's one liners were great, since it leans more toward just him really having enough of Miranda's bullshit rather than "I'm trying to quip but I don't know how."
Nah not really
Thanks for the laughs Falcon! Nailed it, per usual.
the cup noodle thing was kinda funny
I do love how even Noctis was sick of listening to Gladiolis drone on about cup noodles.
We love gameranx!
gameranx are the lightbringers! They're the fucking Universe!
The cup noodle scene is something straight out of Truman Show.
Yes! It's awkward, but hilarious exactly because of how awkward it is.
I love Kingdom Hearts and I play through the games a few times a year but I always skip KH2 Atlantica. Only reason to ever go through that torture is to get a synthesis material needed for Ultima Weapon.
Hilarious, xD
I'm excited every time I see a new video by you guys! Luckily that means I'm excited a lot, :))
Ya pushing it with the ME3 Buzz Aldrin scene… feels like y’all just needed that one to fill the list.
Leliana's Song has lyrics. She is singing in the elven language
in English
elder your time is come
now I am filled with sorrow
weary eyes need resting
heart has become grey and slow
in waking sleep is freedom
we sing, rejoice
we tell the tales
we laugh and cry
we love one more day
I disagree entirely about the stargazer opinion 😂 I feel the voice acting was done very well and I don't feel it's cringy at all just vague and mysterious 😅 it honestly felt like they were doing a "mass effect will return" kind of thing 🙂 just my opinion though coming from someone that loves the endings at least with the extended cut
I love that cup noodle scene.
It actually reminds me of how a friend in high school talked about computer stuff lol
Does he work in advertising today?
@@bandito241 no, he works on making artificial limbs automated
I think a good voice director makes a lot of difference when having celebrities do voice acting.
It's certainly possible to have people that are inexperienced in voicework still put in a decent performance, if there's a good director to guide them.
I love MegaMan, Zero is my favorite character ever and never in my life did I expect the "What am I fighting for?" to be Number 1 🤣🤣
Yes, it's so bad (No the worst I have seen from MegaMan though 😂) Glad to see gameranx go to a classic for a list 😂❤️
Yeah Buffy did it well .
Mass Effect Andromeda: "My face is tired"
Awkward dialogue coupled with zero face animations.
Man I was not expecting Falcon to say that Kingdom Hearts is not cringe through the whole runtime
I’m glad you mentioned the OG resident evil. That one was hilarious.
