Vikings is my favorite show, so I know it almost by heart. But in this video, I rewatched all the scenes with Ecbert and found the necessary parallels. After that, everything with inspiration and a good selection of songs.

The only one of the new actors, who could continue making this show great was Ivar, but now that he killed Sigurd the fans hate him...and Floki is going to become a muslim, now that he lost Helga, so a lot of people think that this show is going downhill, I hope they are wrong.
Hopefully they can pull off Ivar character very well. Rollo to me is also a very promising cast, I hope he will not die soon 🤞

He's not underrated, he's just hated, but last season kinda changed people's minds after seeing his attitude towards Ragnar.
He´s not underrated at all. None of the characters in Vikings are underrated, come´n you can tell the were picked by hand
He’s anything but, he’s commonly regarded as the second best character in the whole show, right next to Ragnar.
Linus done such a good job as Ecbert. He gets credit but not nearly enough.
The era of Ragnar, Ecbert and Athelstan was so so good. What a show.

When he speaks about sending Ragnar to death, you feel the respect/love he has for him, even tho he is/was his enemy. What an incredible actor he is.

Yes like there relationship was complex/complicated at best but they both respected eachother and came to admire one another
I love Ecbert. He’s really true friend. I can’t forgot when Ragnar died. He’s walked with no shoes from a kingdom to another kingdom and cried. Thats so dramatic scene.
Ragnar. Ecbert. Athelstan. The show is just not the same without them.
Ragnar and Ecbert were THE kings.
He and Ragnar are far more interesting than anyone else in the show.
Compared to them, to their intelligence, their charm, their unsatisfiable "hunger", their depth (and therefore their misery) the new generation really is boring, Bjorn first.
The show will never be the same.

While King Ecbert slowly died, I thought they will show Ragnar on another side of the pool, looking at him and smiling or something. I think the first time they met was in the same spot so it would be even more epic.

Would have been great, except Ecbert wasn’t going where Ragnar was. Even if Ragnar died a Christian (which I doubt considering Odin went down to deliver news of his death to his sons), Ecbert said he wouldn’t mind going to hell to join Satan as long as he had established a strong dynasty in the living world. Plus, even though they were on seemingly good terms, both were screwing each other over until the very end, Ragnar by telling Ivar and by extension everyone else to launch a full fledged assault on Ecbert (even though he asked that he is delivered to King Ælle for his execution, while Ecbert didn’t want to hand him over), and Ecbert screwed over Ragnar’s sons by signing off a piece of land for them to establish themselves legally while he wasn’t the King anymore and didn’t have the authority to do so. Maybe Athelstan would make more sense to be there, since they were both of the same religion, and I think had a deeper connection than Ecbert and Ragnar. While Ragnar had Ecbert’s respect and admiration, Athelstan had his love and friendship. Would have made more sense for him to accompany him in his last moments before the final journey. Although it would have been a good parallel considering Ecbert was there on Ragnar’s final moments.

I like how the show has been fair to both sides - the Saxons and Vikings and you can see here that Ecbert was truly fleshed out as a character and wasn't 2 dimensional. Thank you for this, man! Another superb tribute!

Egbert was a real king with a real story if you wanted to look at his real life story
I loved the way he loved Judith, she felt so small and so unworthy of anything and anyone, and his love lifted her to her rightful place within herself.

This was magnificently done, you captured Ecbert's ambition and ruthlessness along with his relationship with his son who really is a tragic character. A brilliant soldier who just wants his dad to love him.

It still amazes me that in a show called Vikings, this English king has become one of my favourite characters. This video really does him justice, great choice of scenes with the right voice-overs, well done!

He acts like such a sociopath in many ways. His ruthless towards his enemies and allies but he's empathetic and loving to those dear to him. It shows that there are good in all of us. Such a well written and likeable charachter.
God, that was truly astounding ! Really deep and moving ! Ecbert was by far my favorite character, so powerful and yet weak, poetic, one of the more complex characters. He really took us on a moral journey about power and vision... He will be missed !

Since the begining the rivarly between Ragnar and Ecbert was always very dangerous, but since they started to age they began to respect and admire each other. Despite everything they did, in the end they both started to teach and support the next generation.
This show will never be the same with the death of these two legends.
Coming back to watch this and god do I still love it.
they will always be the characters that I love most about Vikings. They developed very well together, and they were amazing!

The best character in show after Ragnar. When they are togheter in scene is magic...seems like they know each other soo well. Great scenes and dialogues. The scene when they discuss about heaven and valhalla still one of my favorites scenes in tv shows ever. People talk about the relationship between Ragnar and Athelstan...or Ragnar and Floki....but for me the best one is Ragnar and Ecbert...they are equals in they respective worlds...with tha same dilemas and ambitions.

I like that even if ecbert was corrupt, cruel and greedy, his deeds were all done in the greater interest of england.

He was such a bastard, but he was noble in his own way. The understanding, friendship, and perhaps even love triangle with Ragnar and Athelstan, as well an incredible performance, made him a highly compelling character.

Вот так должно было быть в сериале....я жалею, что ты не работаешь у Хистори или не пишешь сценарий, потому что ты сделал все ГЕНИАЛЬНО. у них это были просто фразы, у тебя это сцены. И это очень душещипательно.
Экберт очень интересный персонаж. У него было сколько связей, почти с каждым.НО самая мощная его линия была с сыном. Этельвульф классный мужик, и он заслуживал любяшего отца, но Экберт таким не был. Он потратил всю свою любовь на Этельстана и Джудит. Джудит, мой любимый женский персонаж, и у них история не менее интересна. 3:21 - 3:23 очень красивая часть. Ты очень классно это показал...мне будет не хватать, этого веселого, порой странного , но всегда точного и любяшего короля. Спасибо за очередной шедевр, за очередную память. Хотел бы я, чтобы мой комментарий был длинее , но как только я заканчиваю смотреть, слова куда то пропадают.
