NBA 2K Comp Pro Am League, good riddance. They told innocent casuals posting clips on Twitter that it “won’t work in Pro Am” now they don’t work in Pro Am either. 😳
It’s hilarious that they think the lack of 2k League popularity has something to do with the league itself, when in reality, it’s a reflection of the current state of the 2k community.
2k league was doomed to fail from the start. For a bunch of reasons but my biggest two are: 1. Regular players don't have access to the 2k league build of the game. Successful esports leagues like League of Legends, the pros play the same game as the casuals. 2. Most competitive players already think they are better than the pros. No need to watch somebody play 2k when you already think you're better. I'd rather play 2k than watch 2k.
You play the style that win games. Yea it might be boring to see all the time BUT the majority of people in the community can’t replicate it. Keep in mind now, a lot of those players with there squad are going to be in rec/casual gameplay more often now doing the same thing.
To be real...they trying to build gaming culture ahead of basketball culture. It should be the other way around. They need to hire more ppl of culture in management.

They need to make a true ranked mode, similar to cod/apex and have players play in the game mode solo. Then they can offer the top players to play in a tournament on teams and broadcast it
Maybe if they want to restart the league with complete open registration and let the best teams develop organically, it has a chance to revive itself but other than that, nobody listening to all that nonsense about it. Nobody even cares what any of these ex players or employees got to say either. Nobody will respect them if all they do is gatekeep participation.
The 2k league needs to be involved in the community, they need to have those teams play against rec squads of 5 and pro am teams of 5 giving the community to showcase their skills and that would be big for content creators, also would expose the cheaters playing against pros once they see what the casual gamer has to go through they’ll start complaining for a change on anti chests in which the community needs, it’ll also give a chance for teams and players around the community to show that their better than some pro players.
2K will never be as big as other games in esports. Games like Counterstrike, League of Legends, Fortnite, Valorant, Apex Legends, COD, Overwatch, Rocket League, etc.. Run the big esports events and the money pots are getting bigger. EWC is such a big event, 2K not meant for all that.

2k also needs to revamp the starting 5 mode and and make it for pro am, would be nice to have my own Pro am team with 4 A.I vs another player and his 4 A.I’s the more games you win the more XP you get to upgrade your A.I teammates attributes, so you can basically coach your own team and play with your myplayer as well and it’s vs other players, my team is too much of a cash grab, this mode would be fun.
The other big issue with the 2k league is that it's a totally separate game. Every other successful esports game, has the pros playing the exact same game as the casuals. Even down to shitty patch timing. They also need to give us detailed patch notes "changed Jamal Murray's behin BTB to have less invincible frames" every little change should be noted if they want to make a competitive game. League and dota will tell you which tree they moved ffs
We don’t need detailed patched notes. We need a game made one way and not changed . No one should have to learn an around the back and then adjust and learn how it works again or a jump shot becuase of a patch
they did a horrible job marketing and advertising the 2kl . i really follow comp 2k and i had no idea when they draft people , when the league starts , when's the playoffs , who's on what team ect . the other problem is making them use different builds than we use , it creates a divide between the retail users and the 2kl players . the 2kl players are suppose to be the best in the world but they play a diff game with different builds how are we supposed to relate to that

If your ESPORT league fails, it is an indication that no one believes your base game takes any real skill and is mostly cheese or exploits. What makes it worse is when most of the games played in the league look the same with very few stand out moments. There's simply not enough depth in the gameplay logic to support an esport league imo. Hence why out of the millions of people who bought the game, almost nobody watched the 2K league.

I worked for the Grizzlies when the league first started and we really tried to get behind the team and league. But it was dry. I only watched because I was still playing 2k all the time. But after I stopped playing the game, I wasn't interested in the league at all. But I do have now official Grizz Gaming throwback shirts 😂
Since we don’t have league we need 2K15-2K16-2K17 Arcade style of online gameplay. Inside, Outside, Balance all badges, 5v5’s in stage, 21 in stage, 1v1 in stage, Rec Center with dots and street clothes, keep mascots, bring back, OG Bear Crawl etc etc
Should have just kept the 250k pro am tournament. I actually feel like I had a chance to win with my squad and we came close to qualifying a couple times. We were locked in on first thing in the morning trying to win the most games, point spread etc. There is no reason to grind to this game anymore for me, and that’s why I wont be purchasing 2k going forward. Never thought I see the day I’m not proud of it because nothing like hooping with the fellas.
Players shouldn't be suprised by the actions of 2K. Less money spend to players and more towards marketing and pushing the new game. Instead they will invest that money into amplifying current content creators who align with their agenda by encouraging ppl to spend more money. Think about it why pay players a salary when I can cut a 1time check to celebrities and content creators for endorsing or streaming tourneys gameplay and promotion. I watched the 2k league tournament recently, was boring. nothing exciting about watching folks play 2k. nothing spectacular happens. now I enjoy watching Apex Legends events. Way more exciting and the B-stream be lit.
I was deep in the pro am scene from the beginning 2015 wr hd bbb we were running in the jordan rec center 2016 we were matching up through match making I played with more then a few 2k league first year guys when they league came out we found out they were gonna fill it with streamers shit was doomed with most of us and then they got them boys in there running 5 out pick and roll shit was od boring because of the positional limitations on guys you can't see a a variety of things in the league also this community is terrible they aren't trying to be different 2k needs to fix what's an "open" shot cut the shooting range you shouldn't be able to consistently hit 28 footers idgaf this is a video game that should be a skill gap not a rating deficiency (meaning you can hit it if your 3 high enough) they just missed on it
The 2k league can and should die. They don't make a competitive enough game to truly have a league like they do. They need to model things after Dota2 and their tournaments(bigger than league). Plus they said that the 2k league increased ties to the NBA which just hamstrings development. They need to move away from that

I was deep in the pro am scene from the beginning 2015 wr hd bbb we were running in the jordan rec center 2016 we were matching up through match making I played with more then a few 2k league first year guys when they league came out we found out they were gonna fill it with streamers shit was doomed with most of us and then they got them boys in there running 5 out pick and roll shit was od boring because of the positional limitations on guys you can't see a a variety of things in the league also this community is terrible they aren't trying to be different 2k needs to fix what's an "open" shot cut the shooting range you shouldn't be able to consistently hit 28 footers idgaf this is a video game that should be a skill gap not a rating deficiency (meaning you can hit it if your 3 high enough) they just missed on it
2k should let casuals get the other version maybe they will change the 5 out gameplay we don’t like to watch

The 2k league can and should die. They don't make a competitive enough game to truly have a league like they do. They need to model things after Dota2 and their tournaments(bigger than league). Plus they said that the 2k league increased ties to the NBA which just hamstrings development. They need to move away from that

Their style of play is boring. Nobody wanna watch you dance behind a screen shoot 3s. We wanna see a variety of play styles and builds. All that comp shit is cool but nobody wanna see that.
