Just a suggestion for playing with the PopBoy sliders. Instead of real player % Turn shot timing impact to 0 in the sliders. This way the game is using your players stats in tandem with the sliders you have on, otherwise real player % is kinda iffy. This will still allow you to take and make crazy shots while maintaining difficulty and fun.
TL;DR: Go into franchise/dynasty mode and customize the settings however you want, including what year it starts. You gotta go in like you are doing a custom franchise (or dynasty, I can't remember what they call the mode now). Then when you are setting it up, 2k will let you choose what date (or era, whatever) that you want the dynasty to start on. But unless you want the draft classes to be auto-generated by 2k (with fake players), then you have to import the draft class before the draft every year (like you see Clique do). Beyond that, if you want to focus on one player, like Clique did in this video, then when you go to play in the games, instead of controlling all players, just do a player lock on one specific player in the pause menu settings when you go into the Play Game.
