Would definitely love to see you test and break down one of the ionic 12 volt 50 amp hour batteries to see how they stack up. I really appreciate the no nonsense tech info you provide for everyone. Thank you
Thank you for giving us honest reviews of batteries don’t change anything about how you review the batteries if people are going to spend there hard earned money on these batteries it’s nice someone like you is willing to tell us what we are getting when we buy them
First off thanks for running the test this is what I need to know and has influenced my future battery purchases! I really like the way you do the test on these currently and wouldn’t change a thing! Thanks again!
I know a ton of people who run Ionics in their bass boats and are completely satisfied. Only heard of one issue and the dealer immediately shipped out a replacement. The most important things to me are reliability, dealer support, and if they deliver the power. And the bluetooth app looks great. Keeping them at the top of my list.
I wonder if those bigger batteries are made by a different supplier? I love the Bluetooth feature. If the channel grows big enough to justify the cost, I will tear one down. Thanks for watching!!
I'm running 50ah x3 for my ultrex, battery runs perfectly fine, however do have bluetooth fail within the first year for 2 of them. Pretty good customer service though, shipped replacement without any hussle.
I just bought 2 12volt 50 ah ionic and an ionic charger for my boat. I run a 24 volt xi5 motorguide. Almost every review I watched the people said they loved their batteries. I ran yellow top optima batteries for 13 years and they finally are dying off so I got my moneys worth out of them. Time to join the “future” I guess lol.
Great breakdown and test of the battery. I’ve watched enough to know that this quality is very bad in boats due to vibration. I have one of the Ionic starting lithium batteries and I would love to see that breakdown.
i like the way you do it. they both go hand and hand test than tear apart. i really liked in the one video where you actually discharged at an amperage equal to one of the units we use. i think you used the helix 7.
Thank you for this review. I have the ionic 50ah 12v. It has worked flawlessly. 🤔 The app is a game changer. Had an Eco Worthy prior. The battery was fine, but customer service is less than to be desired. Interesting, I have not needed customer service for the Ionic. BTW Low temp cutoff is 24 Degrees on my battery. Not 32.
I appreciate your honest review, and taking the time to tear apart this battery and explain the good the bad the ugly. I had an order through ionic that I ended up canceling, and ordering from amped instead. I really wanted to like this battery, but after seeing the bill to quality and the possible misleading issue with the battery quality I had to change my mind. Thanks again, keep up the good work.
Another good breakdown and honest opinion. Maybe it’s already in the works but I’d be curious to see what a battery you design looks like. Seems to be aspects of of different batteries you like. Would be interesting to see all those combined into one “perfect” battery
Breakdown of 50 Ah 12V Battle Born or Zooms 12.8V 10Ah LiFePO4. I like the break down and honest quality control build and why. I won't be using any LiFeO4 under 50Ah. If they make poor smaller batteries, it'll be across the broad with all there products. I was leaning towards Battle Born or Dakota.
I like your video because I learned something for new technology in your battery. What is your recommendation? I have Mobility scooter, three wheels, 60 W five batteries to replace, my old battery ripped lithium battery
You should make up a list of improvements and addresses (email) where we can send messages detailing the improvements we would like to see. The companies are trying to keep costs down to be competitive. Improvements will increase material costs and labor costs so buyers should be aware a better product will cost more.
I like your videos, they are informative. I just wanted to dump some info here as well regarding cold charging and low temp cutoff. According to Battleborn, there isn't exactly a hard cutoff value at 32F. It's more of a charge de-rate curve to prevent lithium plating. At 0.2c charge rate, it's possible to go down to 25F from what I gather, and logarithmic de-rate below that. But you are right about a lot of these, for ice fishing, I'd really want a low cutoff at 25F or higher since the included chargers are around that 0.2-3c rate. It's a shame the fishing brand batteries don't have this simple and nearly free option.
Very interesting, I will have to look at them and maybe revisit some tests. I do have a mini freezer on the way for future cold charge and discharge tests
Looking at moving ti lithium and find your videos helpful. Wonder if you plan on reviewing an epoch battery. Also pros and cons of single 24 volt compared to 2x12 volt in series, also is a circuit breaker still recomended
Great video!!! I was looking to replace my lead acids like real soon and was looking at the ionic brand..... I'm glad I watched this and thanks!! Do you have a product recommendation for me on what you have tested that passes your tests in both battery life and build qualities?
Nice to see the review of this battery. Was wondering about the bluetooth app but disappointed in the build quality. I was considering this battery but have gone back to the Dakota 10 amp with 2 in parallel. I would like you to discuss high discharge use of the batteries. I'm planning use for ham radio with max draw with transmit of approx. 20 amps. Dakota specs show 20amp max continuous, whereas the Amped outdoors only indicate 10 amp continuous and peak discharge of 20 amps. Am I correct that the Dakota would better meet my needs?
Quick question about batteries in general, if you have a amped battery that you have used several times and maybe 10 cycles, you decide you want to get another amped battery same amp hours, will that make a difference when adding a newer battery to the older battery, even if the old battery is only say a year old?
Great question, I would not have an issue with it as long as it is from the same manufacture and same amp hour rating. That way you know the BMS in both of them will play nice with each other.
Wow. Was looking to buy a battery and found your channel. Thank you so much. Have you ever dissected a bioenno battery? They bill themselves as a premium battery pack and are very very expensive compared to the battery packs your review! They market to the ham radio crowd.
Big bummer, you’ll have to let us know if any if these companies reach out to you to explain/clarify what you found. Hard to come back from selling grade B cells and passing them as new. Keep it up!
Thanks for looking into these batteries. I just got the big 100Ah batteries for my trolling motor and the 125Ah for cranking. I hope they're better than this little one. My hopes are high and the reviews are extremely positive all around and compared to DL, seem to come out on top. They're definitely cheaper than the DL and with the bluetooth feature, easier to manage.
I love the BT feature! I wish more batteries had that. Hopefully the channel grows enough to justify the cost of the bigger batteries. Thanks for watching!!
I run a commercial pool cleaner that is essentially a 30lb trolling motor. I wore out two Duracell and one optima in one year. I have had an ionic I’ve used for 1.5 years and charge it six days a week.it’s exposed to chlorine and chemicals. It’s just as good and strong as the day I got it.
