    I've got two 100Ah Ampere lifepo batteries for my radio shack and they've been awesome!

      @@TheSmokinApe Yea, I've went 8 days with two 100ah batteries bringing them down to 30%, to test, but the other times just to 65% monitoring my digital modes using a pi4, 897D, signalink and an ldg swr meter. My two monitors plug into AC but I do have battery chargers for those in a grid down situation. I havent set up my solar panels yet, which I have three 100 watt. I use a renogy battery monitor, and I love it.

      I'm currently battery shopping for my portable/ solar kenwood tkr-850 repeater build. Trying to keep it light and portable im thinking about 100ah of lipo battery.

    Ampere Time has renamed/rebranded themselves Li Time and are still available on the Amazons. At 4:50 the product description says they are automotive grade which usually means Grade A cells are all that's used in the battery. The new Li Time description in the Amazon listing no longer states that and the battery is cheaper.

    It wasn't that far off of the stated capacity. Nice test.. I'd be perfectly happy with that battery. Half the cost of some of the "name brand" batteries out there. I have a 36AH MIaddy battery that I power my 991a portable. A full day of heavy use it was no where near drained. The difference was it only cost 129 as apposed to over 200 for other brands.

    I think some of those powerworx meters have an external power input.. I wouldn't be surprised if it's stealing 100mA.

    You could verify your load current with your multimeter. Your tested Ah is only about 3% below 12Ah. A couple of cycles could bring that up. I think some of the 7Ah LiFep04 are actually 6 Ah. I had a 6/7 Ah LifeP04 battery fail in warranty, when I could only get a few hundred mAh from it, after using it lightly for about 1 year

      Hey Maximus. I record everything through OBS and then edit with Movavi. The mic is a Rode Podmic fed into a FocusRite Scarlett Solo.

    90-95% of the rated amp-hours seem to be typical for what we can expect from Chinese batteries. On the other end, Battleborn seems to use the cells rated at 106-107% of their rating and then they sell the rest to other battery makers.. That way they meet their published ratings with ease. The Chinese may not even try to match their cells, they may be randomly selected from a pile of them, unless otherwise stated. I have a couple of 6 AH LIFEPO4's I bought from AMZ and have put them in parallel in may battery box loaded with USB & Powerverx connectors, etc. I saw a test online in which they got 96% from their test battery (non-ham tester) so I couldn't pass up the $29 price. I figure this is a good start and I will be testing it on my new Penntek TR-35 I got yesterday. That should do a QRP POTA activation with ease I bet, first I am winding toroids for my QRPGuys antenna, LOL. Thanks for the video! Cheers es 73, Dave - KU9L

    Not sure if what I'm saying is correct but taking a step back and not being too technical about it, it looks like it would fall into a +/-5% tolerance on the rated capacity which is reasonable.

    Mr. Ape that Smokes? I think i have the same Powerwerx meter. Could you have used the auxiliary power connector cable to deal with any power consumed by said meter (which may be negligible)? I'm a newb and am not challenging your process, just asking. Trying to learn. BTW I agree with your assessment being close enough.

    I have a Bioenno 12v-12ah battery that shows over 14 votes when fully charged. But my ampere time 12v-12ah only shows 13.6 v. Would you know why. Could the Bioenno be bad, I know it works great on my 7300 at 90 watts working POTA. Also, my charger is the Yarlan 14.6v life4 battery charger. Do you think it's a good idea to remove the alligator clips and replace with anderson power pole connectors.

      I am sure the bioenno will drop pretty fast under load. I am not the biggest fan of the power pole design but all my gear uses them so that's why I keep adding them to stuff. The whole cart and horse.

    Thanks. Useful video. I actually use a different test that is, for me, a better indication of what to expect in the field: (1) I discharge only down to 9.0 volts, which is the minimum my radio can tolerate; and (2) I discharge at a rate typical of my max transmit current (which is 0.5 A for my little QRP radio). Combining the two, I know I'll get at least THAT capacity out in the field no matter how much I transmit. As an example, my homemade 3Ah Li-Ion battery pack gives me 3.108Ah on that test. Thoughts?

      This batter has a BMS that will cut up before 9v. It shoulda like you are modeling what you will do in a field which is cool. I was just doing a standard capacity test. Thanks for watching Skip 👍

    The fully charged voltage per cell on a 4 cell LiFePO4 is 13.6 volts, you should not go below 12.9 volts else you may damage the battery. At 12.9 volts you will have discharged it 80%. You will not see the full capacity in the test as you ran it. Ideally you need to set a cut off at 12.9 and see if the current drawn is 80% of max capacity.

      @@TheSmokinApe And as a Rookie which I am...why would you want a battery that you could NOT discharge below 80%? 50% maybe but curious why have it if you have to stop at 80%??

    Within 5% rated capacity for a cheap battery? Yeah, no problem. I would expect all of the stated ratings (discharge cycles, number of years) to fail similarly on the low end of totally acceptable.

    Chinese batteries are notorious for overstating their capacity. I don't know where Bioenno sources their products but I'll stick with them. I don't run bareback often but my 40ah battery is plenty for the 891 the way I use it.

      Careful shopping will get you somewhere away from the junk without the Bioenno pricing.

      I wouldn't say this was gross overstating, but I do understand your point. I have a few Bioenno batteries that I use, this is a spare that will likely be used to charge cell phones. Maybe you fold that kind of paper but I don't want to spend $125 when $75 will get the job done.
