Just can't seem to get the low end crunch with my 6505. Thanks for sharing, wish I would have watched this before I made the choice to grab a non evh model.
I had both for a long time, and I actually much prefer the Peavey 6505. I finally sold my stealth 100. Good amp at home, but has a sort of papery top end and it’s just hollow in the mids to the point that while it still cuts enough to sit in a mix, it just barely stands out. The peavey seems to just cut a lot better. I think the evh is over filtered on some key frequencies that hold it back from being truly great. It also has way too much gain, imo. The only thing it excels in, is the tighter more punching low end….but I’d say the peavey takes it in every other regard.
@@brandonbryson3317 Well said sir! For all the time I've spent playing, I should have been paying more attention to my cab. I have time now, thanks for the input.
@@Metlupass2 In process of doing that very thing. Managed, with some creative adapting, to put my home stereo eq in the mix and it has definitely made the difference I was looking for. Pedal on the way.
@@brandonbryson3317 As a long time OG5150 player I agree with this. I have the Stealth now, solid amp but after a bit of playing it just seem to be missing something. I'd straight up track down an old OG5150 or even get the new 6505 but one area the EVH stuff beats the old amps is the master volume. You have to raise the master or stick a level control in the loop to get them to sound good at lower volumes. I wish Peavey had addressed the master when they reissued the amp. Btw/ never had issue with the low end on the OG's.
Doesn't get much better than those amps \m/ is the matching cab the best for it? Doesn't sound as brutal as it did through my orange and mesa cabs but could be settings too
I played mine through a Friedman be 4x12 and a Mesa oversized recto 4x12. The matching evh cab was too dark for my tastes. Couldn’t get it aggressive enough for my tastes.
Love the Exodus riff
Thanks! I’m just glad someone could recognize the riff!😊

Put an EQ pedal in your loop

Sounds good
Great Amp!!!

Was going for an old school thrash tone for Exodus riffs

The 5150 Iconic is killer.
Great Amp 😊😊😊😊😊
Really good
thoughts on Hubert mk1 or mk2?
Either one. I've owned every version and they're all pretty much the same IMO. Any difference can be made up with minor EQ adjustments
