Hola Luisana ! Look on the end of the roller. It’s designed for a stick to screw into it. That stick is called a “man-helper”. With this stick attached the roller becomes more like a broom or mop making it possible to paint the floor without being on your knees
thank you Bryan! I realized I could've used the stick after I finished doing it 🙈 Im going to pin this comment for newcomers so that they don't hurt their knees like I did LMAO
I painted my floors black with white and gray stripes in the middle and sealed it with 2 coats of polyurethane. My floors look like they are stained. I really recommend sealing with polyurethane for easy cleaning
Oh my God - I can't believe I stumbled across this video out of the blue. I just bought a small 1925 home with a small sunroom. This is exactly how I want to paint the floor. A lot of people think it's a crime to paint wood floors but I wanted to do something totally different in this tiny room. I will be painting the walls and floor all white. The only color will be on the ceiling which is going to be a similar color to the one you put on your walls in this video. Even the lace curtains in the windows will be white. And then a round rug that is close to the color of the ceiling color. I'm so excited to get this project going now, thanks to you!
It's not "different", it's not smart. Only people who paint wood floors don't really have wood floors. It is a crime, because you immediately and significantly decrease value of your home. Maintenance is a nightmare. Every hair, every drop, every crumb will show up on a white floor. Then, white floor paint will scratch, flake, chip, and wear away...and being white it will look terrible the second you start using it. It's not hard to sand and stain wood floors an infinite number of colors from light to dark. Every house job either adds or subtracts to value of home. White floor paint would be at top of list to decrease house value.
Beautiful job on the floor! Great job on the video where you covered ALL the essential points in a short time! I suspect people who hear / see your presentations at your job give you top ratings. ☺️
Didn't cover necessary sanding and priming before painting, or cleaning after the painting. Terrible real estate value and painting advice. Video she used as inspiration was painting over a painted floor. She just painted over a pristine wood floor. Sigh. This is a new home owner mistake.$1000 was a fair price to refinish floor, and could have gotten more quotes to find lower price. She needs to do a video one or two years later...when the truth will be revealed.
Thanks for the informative video! I pulled up some old carpeting in a bedroom before I was able to get the maple floor refinished. I looked up videos of painting wood floors and was happy to have landed on Jerina Boylston’s video which you mentioned and your video. I watched other videos using other floor paint but liked what I saw and heard from you and went with the Break-Through gloss. I liked your white floor but I went with a cream color, which I had matched with the trim color in the room. I painted one thin coat so far, and love it! I’ll see if two coats will do the trick. The bedroom is about the same size as yours so it's good to know I'll have plenty of paint if I should need a third coat. I love that the paint dries fast but noticed it started forming a skin on top of the full container as I was painting the edges of the room. (I was painting directly from the can.) I skimmed the thin layer off the top and kept stirring every so often after that to keep the paint from forming another skin. Thanks for the tip on the roller too! I do have a handle / pole that works nicely so that kneeling not necessary.
Howdy luisana, I'm curious how well it lasted. Has any of the paint come off of the floor or has it lasted over the 2 years since the video was uploaded?
Did you seal it with clear coat if not how is it holding now, I'm just curious I wanted to paint our wooden floors but I have kids and pets at home which is I always have to mop the floor with hot water and bleach
Well they look stunning i did mine 5 months ago, and they looked great my white furniture did look glam , but 5 weeks after i noticed yellowish patches coming thru so i repainted , but again same yellow ppissy colored patches, i learned the yellowing was infact tanon from the natural timber , not much i can do about it, so i was wo dering have you had this same issue,
If you purchase a can of spray shellac you can seal the tannins, then paint over the shellac. If you want the area smooth sand first, then spray shellac and finally paint. Shellac spray is available in clear or white. Shellac has a strong odor solace a fan in a window to help with fumes. I have to wear a respirator, I have strong allergies to aerosol propellants and fuel-based products. I refinish furniture so thankfully I can move my projects to the garage.
Bet a million dollars it won't hold up. No proper floor prep before painting, and white would be worst for keeping it clean. Bet it's all scratched and marked now.
Hi just come across you’re channel, can’t believe I’ve just finished my bedroom floor white and I love it , yours looks Brill too I have subcribed now xx
New Subbie !! Loved how it turned out I think it was a good call on your part to paint the floor to begin with to match your wall. can we have an update video on how the floor holds up after furniture is in place and time has passed?
It cost me $2,500 for two floors but the carpet did need to be tore up. Now the newest room I am going to redecorate had a wooden floor under the carpet. Now we took the carpet off but there are little pieces of carpet stapled in the floor. I have been trying to take them out, but I am having a difficult time. The wood does have drips of paint on it, so I was going to take the paint off, but now I am just going to paint it like you did yours, but in light gray.
You might try a long handled very thin flat head screw driver. You must come in flat, parallel to the floor so you don’t gouge it. Lift the staple just a little, then you can grab the staple with pliers. (I did a lot of this many years ago.) Patience wins the day. 👍
Thank you for this i am wanting to do the same for my den area..... I saw another video where they used a primer at the end to seal and it gave the floor a nice gloss as well... Great work as tho.. Love your energy.
"Primer" is used AFTER floor is sanded and BEFORE paint. Polyurethane is used on TOP of stain or paint to protect the surface at the END of process as final coats.
Did moving your furniture back inside scratch or chip the paint? Thinking of doing it myself but so afraid that furniture I can’t lift ( can only drag) will scratch it 🙆🏼♀️
good question! I had to drag my tv stand (which I don't have anymore in my room but was insanely heavy and made out of all metal/glass) and the paint didn't chip! I was very impressed by the strength of the paint
Alexandria M. you can buy some type of padding .the furniture will rest on so that you can slide it quickly across the floor without any scratching. The other side is for carpet. It's well worth the purchase and it's not expensive
Darling for a novice you did a great job, you explained everything so well, next time , if you ever do it again, unsrew the handle of your house broom and screw it into the end of yr roller handle , it will be so much quicker but easier bravo👌 fanstic job
Awesome awesome and perfect for me because this is why I came on to TH-cam today. I have 100 year old wood floors that are dry , so I think they will take the paint fast. I have two rooms and the hallway I don't care how many coats. Would you recommend epoxy on the top at the end as a top coat.? I'll need to watch this again because I didn't notice if you were using semi-gloss latex or flat. Great job I can't wait
it took 3 coats for me to get an even finish! also, the paint I used didn't require a top coat but I'd imagine it'd turn out better if you decide to 😀 it would be like a cherry on top... not required but it'll make it better! and thank you!
Your room looks so clean and fresh colors. I love it. I have a tiny room too and i just may imitate your exact choice of colors ( if you dont mind of course) lol I promise to give you the credit. Hehe great job girl. You did a professional job ❤❤❤❤
I low key want to do this to my upstream while my man is at work, if i told him i wanted to paint the floor he would kill me 🤣 i think it looks so glam! I want to know how it held up
Why? Sigh...significantly decreased real estate value. You could refinish floor yourself and stain light wood with poly finish, and it would look much, much better. Old wood floors are VALUABLE...no one can get this real wood anymore. You had perfect wood, and it's easy to change wood color and finish. Keeping white paint clean will be a NIGHTMARE. Plus, having painted floors over the years, it always chips, scratches, and flakes away with time. White paint will start looking bad the second you start using it. Threw away value of home. You seem nice, but really need to find more advice from painters and professionals.
If you didn't sand and prime this floor, get ready for it to start scratching, chipping, and peeling. Preparation is most important part of any paint job. You seem to have skipped all preparation. This really should NOT be a "tutorial" because it's bad advice from decreasing real estate value to terrible painting advice...it's all bad "advice". You seem nice, but sadly penny wise and pound foolish.

I like your down to earth personality. Thank you for this video. I think I’m about to paint all of my luxury vinyl floors, white!
Great job and video. Curious as to how your floor is holding up to daily wear and tear. Scratches? Chips ? Etc. And cleaning.
I loved how it looked after the first coat !
Morel’s World it looked pretty cool like that! Looked like a thin film

What a lovely, budget friendly outcome. Did you consider a clear lacquer over it to make it tougher against scratches?
Oh yeah I wanted to get my wood floors refinished and was quoted almost $2000 for a 15' x 16' room. I've decided to paint mine black
Great DIY
Great Job for a Newbie! You rocked it girl!!

The floor looks beautiful and the room now looks bigger

I clicked b/c of the thumbnail to be honest 😅 gorgeous choc on glam white im painting my floors white now
Howdy luisana, I'm curious how well it lasted. Has any of the paint come off of the floor or has it lasted over the 2 years since the video was uploaded?
I am also curious. Anyone can share experience after 1 year?

Great job. How's it doing over time?
How do you keep the white paint clean without chipping it?
You did a good job pretty girl👸🏽
Good video!! I am painting my entire house. So far my room and closet r done. But 6 more rooms to go
that is awesome! be sure to give us an update on how it turned out 🥳
Can you do an update of how the floor has held up please?
Bet a million dollars it won't hold up. No proper floor prep before painting, and white would be worst for keeping it clean. Bet it's all scratched and marked now.
Love your honest video too!!!!
great job, you inspired me to do my floors too.
Great job. You saved me money. I am going to do my bedroom floor myself.. ❤️❤️
Hello, I was wondering how your floor has held up after you painted it?
Thanks...will do.
It looks fantastic. Inspired me to paint my laminate hallway white. It looks great 💯
Hi just come across you’re channel, can’t believe I’ve just finished my bedroom floor white and I love it , yours looks Brill too I have subcribed now xx
Great job. Thanks so much for the video. I can't wait to do mine.
This video was amazing! Thanks so much for sharing. We plan to paint our room white as well!🥰🥰🥰

Gorgeous results girl! I’d love to know how your floor is holding up?
I'd love to know this too
Hi how did the paint hold up?
Good job. how is the floor holding up?
Curious , how many hours/ days drying between each coat
2-3 hours between each coat, it took me one day to complete the job, then I let it set without furniture for 2-3 days
The viewers who disliked this video should be hosed down with ice water!
I did the same and it's so hard to clean. What do you do?
What a lovely woman thank you very helpful.

Better choice to sand and refinish wood floors. Skip paint.

Just bought an old house with lots of charms but needs a lot of TLC ,how do you clean your floor, or can you wet mop it?
