    I tried it your way: fantastic.
    I then made it MY way - same as yours but added pickles, roasted green peppers, and hot pepper relish: Tremendous!
    The rye bread definitely made that burger. Great call!

    Gday from down under Sydney Australia- love your site and have tried quite a few of your recipes and the caramelised onions we do here are- onions cooked until they go transparent then some balsamic vinegar and some brown sugar and cook for only 15 mins or to your taste if you haven’t tried it that way have a go and see what you think- keep up the good work. 👌

    My dad loved patty melts. We'd hit Jerry's for a patty melt when I'd visit home on leave. I haven't had one in 30 years. That sandwich looks sooooo good.

    Perfection! So many people use other seasonings that scorch at high heat and give the meat a bitter taste. Salt only! My two cents: use mayonnaise instead of butter to toast the bread.

      A Patty melt is a diner classic! It’s not too common outside of more Urban/City locations though.

      @@robert58 so here's one thing he's definitely missing. Typically there is sauce on a Patty Melt. 1000 island dressing or Russian dressing.

    For those weirded out by the rye bread, try a light rye. This is also amazing with Gouda cheese even without the burger

      A lot of times when people think of rye bread they think of that weird marbled cocoa rye bread that is brown and kinda sweet, or the regular rye bread but with caraway seeds that have an alarming and divisive taste (you like it, or hate it). I prefer no caraway myself but will eat a patty melt with.

    Ok I made a version of this using meatloaf and provolone 😆 added ketchup and sriracha as the dip sauce lol ...not bad but I gotta do this one specifically. Love your videos...always inspiring.

    Put some parmesan on the griddle and the melt on top of it for a few minutes. The parmesan crust takes it to another level.

    Strange rye bread. At least in Germany, rye bread is grey. This seems more like a lightly ryed wheat bread

    Who cares what you call it.... it's perfection. You don't have to use rye bread either. Some good old Texas toast will do.
