  • I do an oscilloscope review of the new Siglent SDS2352X-E Oscilloscope from the SDS2000X-E series.
    I demonstrate the menu system and features, and check its actual bandwidth to see if it meets its specifications.
    The new scope has many features similar to the SDS1104X-E and SDS1202X-E variants which I previously reviewed (see links), but it has much higher bandwidth.
    It has serial decoding as standard, as well as a web interface through its LAN port for easy control without additional software.
    Bode plot, MSO and Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) are options.
    It comes in 200MHz and 350MHz versions, the SDS2202X-E SDS2352X-E.
    The reviews below will be helpful also, as I demonstrate the AWG, MSO and BODE PLOT in them:

    Make sure you give the video a thumbs up 👍🏻 Gearbust have been thumbs downing my videos ever since I publicly shamed them, I need to help to minimise the impact.

    I'm looking to buy one of these, and the video was really helpful for letting me see what the sds2352 can do. I would have liked to see the DC and low frequency behavior, with rolling, since these are useful for audio and some kinds of instrumentation work. It would have been more helpful if you would speak a little slower; for Americans the quick remarks just get lost.

    I'm a picky ol sod, i like analog oscilliscopes.
    Digital is limited to how complex a waveform it can represent, the Adc would have to be really high res to show reality.
    But i could be very wrong lol.
    But being able to freeze a waveform on screen may draw me to digital one day, i did say "May" lol :-D.

      I have an old cossor scope and portable telequipment one.
      I'm not bothered about the absolute accuracy of the vertical amplifiers, just there ability to show every little glitch/spike.
      I know the cathode ray tube is an old idea, but it works really well :-D

      zx8401ztv - I still have my 300MHz tektronix 2432a, and 60MHz Dick Smith scopes, when I first started using digital scopes I would find a lot of times when analog worked better, but I think now I can get as clear a picture on digital as I can my old analog scopes, of course it depends how you set them up, Persistence is a help here.

      Sadly the analog scopes have severe difficulties with gliches. Very fast storage tubes help but still fall short due to limited trigger capabilities. Storage tubes cost even more for high bandwidth. Resolution is not much better than trace thickness, then no expansion for analyis of stored traces. No storage of reference traces. Both have limits unless money is no limit. These days I will take a Digital scope for many reasons though would love 12bit digitising if possible.

      Ever tried extracting a base signal with significant noise superimposed on an analog scope. No issue on digital witch filtering applied.

    I suggest always get the 4ch version
    Two channels gets too limiting in seriois testing. Yes often 1 ch is used for quick checks but 4 ch should be a minimum available.

    I've just got to figure out ,how to get "Atilla the hen," to buy me one of these to celebrate my retirement in December2019 & keep my SDS1102 CNL, I could spend happy Years learning this lovely piece of equipment, That was a pleasure watching you putting it through it's paces, well done looking forward to the rest of the reviews.

    Thanks Defpom for the review. One of these would look real nice sitting beside my Siglent spectrum analyzer. Question! Is the scope so light that it has a tendency to tip when pushing the buttons toward the top?

    • @TheDefpom
      @TheDefpom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think button press wise it is ok, ish, I tend to hold on when pressing buttons more than half way up anyway, another reason to have beeps enabled so you can stop pushing.

    • @tautech8196
      @tautech8196 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and we can only presume a 4ch version of SDS2000X-E is in development although Siglent at this time says one is not coming. This form factor is based on the 4ch SDS1000X-E DSO's that also use a shared vertical control however as Defpom says you do quickly get used to it. I too dreaded it when the 4ch X-E's were released however being given the privilege of beta testing them I got to see why shared controls are necessary in this small form factor. The 7" display is fine but you wouldn't want it to be smaller just to accommodate more knobs.

    I liked to see your review, worth not mentioning the serious manufacturing issues of this SDS2202X-E

    • @TheDefpom
      @TheDefpom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carlos Santos - if you mean the probe compensation of the 1102 (which I did a video on showing how to fix it), there is no point mentioning it because it is not relevant to this product, it doesn’t have that problem.

    • @CarlosSantos-kn6gy
      @CarlosSantos-kn6gy 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has deviation problem of vertical "0" 2.5 / Div in 500uV, during the heating 30 to 60 minutes.
      Perform self-calibration after 30 minutes and then shut down, then turn on the oscilloscope 2 hours later.
      Check the result of vertical deviation 2 to 3 / Div

  • @infordataecuador2062
    @infordataecuador2062 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    is it a good product or is a bad product ???

  • @CarlosSantos-kn6gy
    @CarlosSantos-kn6gy 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The problem of vertical deviation of 2.5 / Div of CH2 and of 1.4 / Div of CH1 in 500uV, without change of ambient temperature is not admissible.
    Error in all Ref, other than X1.
    With no probes, it captures the beep when it is on the most sensitive scales.
    Sometimes it gets completely blocked, with no explanation.

    It's very bugged model. There is discrepancy of visible waveform and real one (cursors just flying under) when you using delay and taking record. Or if using 5ms time base and taking record, resulted waveform will be shifted to 2ns relative to visible one. This bug makes impossible using of gate function and mesure functions related to gate func. Zoom fuction is bugged too. When upper window shfting according to knob - all OK, but in down window there is some crazy stuff: rising edge of waveform appears an disappears numerous times...

    CCW to increase IS backwards, no volume knob is like that, no reason adjustment knobs should do that.

    Seems some debate over analog vs digital scopes remains sadly the analog does not give much improved resolution as trace beam thickness is limiting that. A overdrive by deflection scaling can mean loss to trace accuracy etc by amplifier driving overloaded and adding distortion. Yet digital can expand stored captured traces, which analog can not do. Then also is digital advanced complex triggering, definite one event trace capture meaning easier rare event glitch capture. Then the advanced analysis functions including data signal decoding. Then the waveform math capabilities, reference trace, inifinte or variable persistence. So many advantages. Finally the bulky construction, heavy big units especially for fast storage tube units. These days Digital scopes are the best, though watch out for getting fast trace capture 》100000 traces/sec. Cheap or older digital units may capture a few as maximum 300 traces/sec. Keysight does genuine 1mega trace/sec of of course fast time base. At slow time base still less than 1usec lost time to next trigger, slow traces still cause nect trace to happen with millisec of not captured time, leading to possible loss of glitch events, this was once an issue that analog scopes did not have as a problem. No longer on these new digital scopes

      @@PB-tv6kp I agree that second hand is needed by limited budget. I too started with an ancient mid 1950's analog, round tube, flip down graticule, frequency timebase monster. Also advanced through many generations since 1960's.BUT no way is even very expensive analog types as useful for more serious work. Digital units do not have coste several arms and legs now, though more than a cheap (free ) hand-me-down analog one from someone who has afforded an advanced digital. I will not be turning back, though demand at least 100000 traces/sec. Lack of that caused me to not buy any earlier digital scope till 5 years ago. My comment was meant to avoid the implied misconception that digital scope are inferior. All round they a well above functionality for most users. Use what suits your needs and budget!
