Randy Potter of Potter Auctions passed away in March 2018, well before the 2019 HotDocs premiere of “There Are No Fakes.” In the film, amongst other disclosures such as sales of 1500-2000 fake Morrisseaus into the marketplace; Potter details the syndicate-like practice he and his “group” employed of pooling their finances to fund their various actions brought against Morrisseau’s legacy protectors. He also exposed himself as a hypocrite for whining about racist white men profiting off of Norval while he, a white man referring to native women as “squaws,” detailed making 1-2 million dollars a year selling ‘Morrisseau’s.´. All with a straight face.
