In 2008 people defined fake Norval Morrisseau art as "questionable". No one dared publicly say forged or fake, even generally speaking. A month after this Sept 8 2008 interview Ritchie Sinclair published images of more than 1000 fake Morrisseau paintings on Morrisseau.com. For doing so he was sued for $17 Million - they lost. He was targeted by crime syndicates for 15 years - they lost. The cream of Morrisseau's genuine legacy is only now rising to the top.
In this interview Ritchie addresses the fact that in 2008 the forgery rings were using the idea of Morrisseau's protege's assisting him with paintings to explain away the fact that their fakes were dated in the 1970s (to get cultural heritage property tax credits $$$) and there were thousands of them.
