I was at Republic for 2 years before i got myself fired, with WM now and after being on both sides I’ve come to realize republic is WAY more laid back and giving, definitely one of the best companies in waste industry
What did you do to get fired? Yeah dude republic is so laid back. We were GFL before Republic bought us that company was the most laid back company ever lol
Yea dude i cant even have a phone in my hand without the camera going off now but got used to it lol, i was clocking in and out from workday on my phone at home, i wanted all my hours shiiii 😂
That's actually what I was going to ask, which one is better to work for WM or Republic. I'm looking for a new opportunity and a better job as I get older to retire at. Who knows, I just turned 48, so I'm wondering if they'll even hire me at that age. I was born in Denver and still in Colorado.
Wm is definitely choking us out with rules. I understand safety but geez. Like why I gotta stand for the nuggets lol. Why do the launches have to be so synchronized? And now they give us 19 min to fuel, post trip, and clock out.

Hell yeah it’s a great feeling for sure! That’s awesome what state you from?
@@TrashyButClassy1776 Texas bro !
Great video. Definitely no lies told 💯💯💯
Im a residential recycle driver for republic in Richmond ca. Honestly it’s not bad but what bothers a lot of my co workers and myself is the lack of communication with management. Also the lack of maintenance other than that it’s an ok place to work.
I think that’s everywhere my brother. Make sure your upper management knows what they lack that way they can own it and change it. Thanks for the comment! I would not mind the California weather at all lol
What time do you guys start and how many hours a week? I was doing front load in sac but i ended up resigning
A marvelous video! Ive been enthusiastic about the industry since I can remmeber and have been an observer of the industry for as long as I can remember, which led to me eventually documenting trucks/routes for the internet lol. It is cool to see the republic trucks/operations from this property, are there any residential operations at that yard and what kind of side loaders do they use? Here in Las Vegas/Henderson NV Republic runs a 24 hour operation due to the roll off compactors they service at the casinos and over top bins. The side loaders are my favorite though. I have heard of safes being thrown out and have witnessed some collectors trying to crack one open years back. I also was recently told about someone that snuck a car in a roll off container and how it came out at the transfer station when the truck was dumping. It is very fun seeing how routes and such are sequenced and exploring new areas not knowing what you will find haha. I've seen lots of big residential routes for drivers with lots of backing and new areas being built so more stops being added. It is honestly very cool seeing how you guys do your job and tackle the day to get it all done. I would love to see more content. With the weather here in NV ive learned about the term 'locking up' due to the intense heat and got to learn about the regimine drivers use to stay hydrated. It is a tough job and I am glad it compensates well and i appreciate the hard work you all do each and everyday.
Yo my brother! I’ve actually watched a lot of your videos I love them! There is residential here at our yard but we don’t have any side loads trucks. All the residential is either through a rear load truck or what’s called a curotto truck. That’s so interesting with the hours of Vegas! I’ve always wondered how they do it. I’m curious about Arizona too! That’s funny you say that about safes. I actually found a safe and cracked it open about 10 years and found a lot of money in it! I have about 7 hours of footage from a POV perspective that I have to go through and upload I’ll make sure I get on it soon! Thank you for the kind words brother take care.
Would you ever consider doing some video content on collecting the trash and compacting it?
Yeah! I actually have a bunch of video recorded of more work related content I’ll work on editing and posting it soon!
This looks much easier than hauling groceries for ALDI. We used to load the pallets into the trailer by ourselves, but now the distribution personnel does it, so that saves us 2 hours a day. But they load incorrectly, just putting pallets inside the trailer. There's an art to loading so it does NOT spill for the driver, but they don't care. Once we get to the store, the 1 pallet jack meant for us to use are not fully charged, as the store employees love using them, when there's 3 other pallet jacks for them to use. So we gotta use these 3 other pallets jacks, which lengthens your unload time, which we don't really get paid for. You could file a claim for the extra hours, but they rarely pay those claims. Each pallet is wrapped only once, to save plastic wrap & time, which equates to $$$$$. If you take a turn too fast in any turn, there goes that pallet, spilling all over inside the trailer.
Exactly what you described is what I had to deal with when I worked for a company called QCD. trash is definitely easier it’s mindless
I remember when I started at Aldi and they made me load my trailer. I thought they were joking at first lol
Shout out. I drive ASL for the same company. I stared in FL and moved over. I love my job everyday. BU448 Las Vegas
My brother! Very nice. I feel the same way. Today I'm so happy. I get to go service of my favorite State Parks here in Colorado. It fills my soul I love it so much.

Amazing. Good luck!! Which location?
What is it like having to deal with animals ? And how long it usually take to understand all them buttons for the dump and stuff ?
The animals are interesting. Sometimes you have to deal with dogs and raccoons. You see mice and rats all the time. I’ve never had a bad experience with dogs but I know people who have. It usually takes about 2 days to learn the buttons really good
@@TrashyButClassy1776 Thank You !!
How hard is it to get on board? I’ve had my class b for almost 2 years and they are hiring here in Austin Tx.
Shouldn’t be too hard! My advice to you is to find a local Republic driver and have him help you get on use his name as a referral so you both can get a bonus. That is the best way to go about doing it.
Thanks for hyping me up for this republic job. im going for my cdl soon. My little brother and a few friends are already driving for them out here in nor cal but they are doing the small cans. Btw is there a pay difference in the big trash and small ones?
Hell yeah! You’re welcome. That’s awesome that’s good to hear. What are they paying an hour out there? I would love to move out to San Diego. Yes there should be a pay difference. If you push between 52-58 hours a week you should make at least 100k a year. Thats the case out here in Colorado at least.

Are the trucks automatic or manual?
Interview me I'm a decade in as a shaker I have stories and knowledge to spread
As an 18 yr old who is a week away from taking my class A test, i hope to join you in doing this very soon 😎
Good luck lil brother! Listen, study the absolute piss out of the test, don’t forget the air brakes and you’ll be set. Hit me up if you need help with anything.
I live in a court with 6 triplex's and very hard to do a complete round without having to forward/reverse a dozen times. It used to take each different truck about 5-8 minutes to get the cans dumped, but I make it a point to have them lined up in a way that makes it easy for them to collect. But 90% of the time I just help them but moving the bin to the arm move away grab another and by the time its done dumping and setting it back I am ready to load the arm with another. Now it takes each truck with 6 bins from 5-8 minute down to 2-3 minutes in the court. had one truck blow a hydraulic line and fluid started leaking everywhere, maintenance crew wasn't at the shop for another 35 minutes so I grabbed a shove and helped him put absorbent(basically cat litter) down and spread out while we waited. I know it's not smart to be doing that, but I just don't stand near or under the arm while it's moving and wait to grab and put another bin in the claw when it's fully retracted back to the truck. Haven't missed a day in a year and a half and they actually have made it a point to hit my court first instead of next to last in my area which I appreciate. You all have a really cool job, and if I wasn't 43yrs old fighting off prostate cancer and have suffered 2 T.I.A(mini strokes) and 1 actual stroke, I would try and get hired at Republic Services(in my area) to do side loading trash pickup.
Dang man I love hearing this. Every trash guy I know loves the help from customers so thank you very much from all of us. Prayers for you! I’ll post some more trash videos so you can be a trash man vicariously through my videos ❤️
We work for the same company and share the same passion. We should link up sometime maybe do a livestream or something
Yeah that would be awesome. Which location you at?
You have a great attitude on life. Great video!
Thank you very much I appreciate it! It’s a lot of work to make videos like this so the positive feedback helps out lol
Plus adding to the fact you have 4 kids I don’t know how you do it. I’m currently a UPS driver for 6 years, I make 40+ an hour with great benefits but I’m beginning to hate the job. We sold our house in south Florida, built our dream house on an acre of land. I’m still working in south FL and go visit my wife and kids every couple of weeks and I’m staying in my parents spare bedroom while I’m in FL(I can’t transfer with UPS bc the closest Hub is a hour and half way). Our plan is to try and pay the rest of the mortgage off and be debt free. I’m 34 and still have another 25 plus years to work before retirement, and I’m still trying to find my purpose in life. I love the freedom that my job gives me and meeting all the people I do on my route. Anyways, I recently walked into a Waste Pro to see if they were Hiring and after talking to the manager he really seemed like he wanted me to apply. Starting rate was 20 bucks an hour and he said after 9 months they would send me to a class to get my CDL. Could you tell me about the negative parts of being a garbage man? You seem like a positive guy so that might be hard but I would just like to get your perspective on it.. maybe a future video 👍
Republican waste aka BFI don't want to hire me😂😂 they bad. They got a guy was working at BFI aka Republican waste that can't back up at all. I got my CDL for 3 months in I could back up better than him😂😂😂
Hey Nicholas, thank you for making this video. Question: how long did it take for you to not only get your required licenses but also get hired by Republic Services to start driving the truck or trucks? Basically, what is the whole process like? I always had an appreciation for trash trucks and the drivers, but I never knew that I may want to consider it as a possible career after the pandemic hit. I am based in Southern California, and Republic Services happens to be the waste hauler for my city ha-ha.
My brother! Hope you’re doing well. I just made a whole video for you regarding your questions and interest let me if you have any other questions. ❤️
