I love to see this! As I’m sitting in this semi truck exhausted I’m thinking of how I’m about to pivot back to a “normal lifestyle” of having some form of work life balance.. being able to enjoy my home without being OTR for weeks at a time. I’m surely about to start doing some applications for dump truck positions and pray for the best possible outcome🤞🏾🙏🏾
If the Lord is willing I pray that you get hired! With OTR experience, you shouldn't have much trouble at all

@@Sauce_AV_SWMC I feel that. I can truly say that in a way I’ve grown “attached” to the freedom I feel out here. But I still wanna be home more often. Seems like the only way to have that balance is local or owner op.

I am starting a new career prolly this Tuesday. I lost my otr job n got hired as a dump truck 18 hr. I’m kinda excited I never really thought bout driving one.

I’m about to get my class A, and move to Greenville! Pretty steady work? Here in Chicago, once the winter comes, dump trucks pretty much stop.
Great video man. If i may give some advice. Always walk to the back and check your dog ears to make sure they latch. Sometimes they wont catch the tailgate and dont lock it. Better to give it that double check then be liable for a windshield or worse
I actually use to do that but I learned that this truck makes a scraping sound when it latches the tailgate successfully and no sound when it doesn't 😂
I seen that before and hot mix come shooting out back of truck...the hot mix guy be cussing up a storm

Hey! I'm actually a company driver lol, but I use a round base magnet with a bolt through it to attach my gopro mount. I usually will stick it on the bed since it's steel and aim it where I want. The magnet can hold 95lbs I believe so it doesn't go anywhere.
@sidbrant Thank you so much! I didn't think about hanging it with a magnet....I see now that there are some knockoff gopro mounts that already have a magnet too. Safe travels, driver!

What do y’all do if it rains and very muddy ?
Usually the dump trucks don't move on rainy days. So we either go home early or move equipment around that needs to be moved to another site

Do you have to collect tickets when you get loaded and unloaded so you can get paid??
This job actually pays hourly, not by the load, but we write out load count sheets to keep track of what's being hauled. Quarries give out tickets when we get loads from them

Are you driving a stick shift or a automatic? The reason why I ask is because I want to get my class B but I'm wondering if there is alot of automatic truck out there are no?
Automatic, a lot of companies are now switching to automatic trucks. In tractor trailers too.

If you are gonna spend the money. Get your class A and go to a school where they teach in manuals. The last thing you want is a restricted cdl

I know what you mean man, but it's not just dump trucks. Everyone be wanting you to have a year or more experience is what it seems like. Try looking for a small company that needs drivers, that's where I started.

If I know the general area, I'll ask for landmarks nearby to look for, all depends on the situation though

Will they hire new cdl holders? I’m currently driving moffett truck at a lumber yard?
Depends on the company, the place I work at did with me!
If you're already driving a Moffett truck combo( class A or B) you're getting experience on what most drivers don't have, Moffett and boom are specialized drivers, it will count positively on your application, plus after 6 month driving you're considered junior driver, no longer a trainee, on your class of course.. but most companies will waste your time, in fact most of us drivers time, sending you, and us. Out with another driver for a couple of weeks.. I think this is a waste of time, couple of days in order to get you acquainted with the job is ok.. more than that is a waste of my time.

Each check is different, any where from $500-$1000
@sidbrant damn that's not good at all from where I live I drive semis for UPS and gross 4k a week take home anywhere from 2400-$2700 weekly
