I want to thank you for your videos! I don’t have an ostomy, but I still value your videos, because I’m a nurse. Your tips are very helpful to me. Keep doing what you are doing. You are an inspiration!

Thank you for this video. I’m a life-long Crohns Disease sufferer (diagnosed at 13), and currently recovering from Part I of a resection of my small intestine, due to a fixed stricture resulting from my severe recurrence of CD nearly 4 years ago. I’m only 4 days out of the hospital; and my ostomy is putting out about twice as much as it should. I’m drinking fluids like a BEAST! And, so far/so good. But your tips are helpful & encouraging. Ramping up the electrolytes NOW! (Even though I’ve already been hittin’ ‘em hard). Thank you!

Hydration is very important! I’ve been so dehydrated I ended up in the ER, the other time, I got Noro Virus and got so extremely dehydrated that I quit breathing and had to have a breathing tube put in, and was airlifted to a bigger hospital and put in the ICU, luckily I’m better now!!

Maggie, I love this video! You are so right dehydration is my number one issue I deal with every day with my ileostomy. My body also doesn't like sugar, lol. The electrolyte drink can have a lot of sugar. What I do is I dilute it with water. Over time I have a ratio that works for me. I adjust it from time to time depending on how dehydrated I feel I'm getting. I also don't drink all the flavors, some seem to taste more sugary.

Thanks for the details. Sometimes when things are "working," I forget to check simple symptoms and Bam I'll hit a wall (headaches, slow output, other issues.)

Hi Maggie, thanks for this video, I suffer really badly from dehydration it’s a killer, the amount of times that I ended up in hospital with a needle in my vein, rehydrating, is too many to think about, and your tips are really great. One of the first signs I now notice is just getting really thirsty, and I start off with sucking ice cubes made of water or juice, this is my big go to first, there is also a drink that can help with the electrolytes, it’s a little out there and a big surprise and not something to use all the time but maybe in an emergency, it’s flat cola! Please note this is only for urgent need as there is so much other stuff in these drinks that aren’t great, but sometimes can be useful!
I was interested to hear you say that you use something that send a message to your phone when your bag needs changing, could you let me know a little more about that, please.
Maggie a very Happy New Year to you and your family, I’m glad all is ok and I very much enjoy your vlog
    Lynne x

Hi! I’m from Canada, so not sure if you have these products in the US, but we can get sugar free Gatorade (G2) and Powerade. I usually dilute it a bit so it doesn’t have such a sweet ‘kool-aid’ taste. Thanks so much for all your informative videos!

Can u give me some advice? I'm a ileostomate over the past 24hours I have had 2800mls and I've vomited twice yesterday. (It kinda looked and smelled like the way my ileostomy does just now) I have tried some loperamide. Also been having muscle cramps.🤔 there is a bug going about.
