Red Like Roses part 2 is about Ruby and her mother (not a spoiler its been known forever before they even mentioned it in the show and in the Red Trailer Ruby is at her grave). Every character essentially has their own theme essentially and the pictures usually make it clear about who the song is representing.
The artwork that accompanies this song in the video is a big clue...it's Ruby at her mother's gravestone (which she also visited at the beginning of the Red Trailer)
This is a huge spoiler since Melissa does not know about Rubys mother. In the red trailer you can´t make out whos grave it is and not everybody looks up every detail that was mentioned prior to its mentioning in the show itself.

The white text in "Red Like Roses part 2" is from the perspective of Ruby's mother, which is the color of the hood over the grave that Ruby visits in the intro scene at the beginning of every episode of Volume 1. Her mother died when she was young and this is Ruby letting her emotions out about her mother while her mother is explaining that she didn't mean to die and "abandon" her
In the Red Trailer, Ruby visits a grave on a hill. And on that Grave you can see "Summer Rose Thus kindly I scatter" as she walks away from it and goes into the forest and fights the Grimm.
Red Like Roses pt 2 hit me like a freight train the first time I really listened to it when I got the soundtrack back in the day. It added so much depth to Ruby's character/motivation for me. When I heard the lyric "Every nightmare just discloses, it's your blood that's red like roses" it filled my head with all the roses/petals referenced in other song lyrics and made everything make sense suddenly.
Rumor was that the original version of "I Burn" (the one with the explicit lyrics) was written before Jeff knew RT was going to be going "family-friendly" for RWBY (at the time RT didn't really do "family-friendly"). There is a safe-for-prime-time-TV version of it, too.

@@unicornburger16 Yeah, my friend and I have talked about that song for hours and we can't come to a good conclusion. For all we know, it could be about someone we haven't even met yet and they slipped it in so far in advance to throw us off.
"I Burn" is definitely my favorite song as well (probably because Yang is MVP). Fun fact tho: "Gold" is actually about Yang promising to be there for Ruby as her big sister after Ruby's mom passed.

I may fall is my favourite from this seasons playlist, it’s so dramatic and inspiring, Nice job catching onto common themes (rises, moon, lightning, thunder, etc.)
When you first meet Weiss, you think cold. But after you learn a bit you realize that maybe its not cold so much as it is repressed. Also, not sure if you've already heard this, but Jeff and Casey deliberately don't talk much about the inspirations for the songs, so people can make their own interpretations. Some of them are more obvious than others.
I BURN random tidbit: there are several rap breakdowns throughout the soundtracks and im pretty sure they’re all done by Lamar Hall. I MAY FALL this is one of my favorite rwby songs and i love it even more because according to jeff, it was inspired by aragorn’s “but it is not this day” speech at the battle of the black gate. RLR P2 dont worry, i’d say theres definitely some foreshadowing in the soundtracks in hindsight but nothing as explicit a kind of spoiler as it would be if red like roses was about someone dying in the future. it’s ruby’s theme and about someone she’s already lost - at the start of the red trailer she was at a grave. i think you may be struggling to make the connection to present day ruby because the lyrics are so pained and dark and ruby is such a bright light of hope and has such a cheerful attitude. personally i believe ruby probably has a lot more going on in her head than she lets on. i think she chooses to be as chipper as she usually is and actively works to remain hopeful and positive but underneath that she’s carrying a lot of hurt. not to say her sunny personality is fake, just that it may not come completely naturally and/or doesn’t mean theres not more going on inside.
yangs theme just works so well its sad we never get a long enough fight to hear the entire song up toi the rap part but its great to hear the full song
I loved your reading of Gold as being about the team as a whole, along with Yang and Ruby's sisterhood ^^ Great reaction in general, and I'm looking forward to seeing you get into Volume 2! Also, I May Fall is my absolute favorite song from RWBY as a whole, it feels like it really encapsulates the show's themes of determination as a whole ^^
Prepare yourself for “I May Fall” to play. Epicness will ensue. Also as has been mentioned Red Like Roses part 2 is Ruby and her mom singing to each other. In regards to Casey and how fantastic she is, she was only 13-14 years old when recording the volume 1 soundtrack songs. Blows my mind.
The fact that I burn mentions super saiyan is really funny when you find out so many people who reacted to the yellow trailer called when she gotmad and her hair started glowing as her going "super saiyan".
I don't think you have enough information about "Gold" to know this, but the song is a Yang song. It's easy to miss the first time but the RED Trailer shows a headstone that reads "Summer Rose 'Thus Kindly I scatter' " The lyric : "Like a Rose on a Summer's day I will be there to take your fear away" makes more sense if you know this. Its Yang talking to Ruby. I personally think it's the story of why Yang's semblance is what it is. The lyrics make it seem like a promise she had to keep, and her soul manifested it into a power. "Dont worry about the dark...I will burn like the sun, keep you safe and warm" "I will be there to take all your fears away" etc...
30:06 fun fact this version was never released for iTunes/soundtrack because it wasn’t supposed to have cursing and made a cleaner version to be officially release on streaming/itunes/music store

"Red like Roses fill my dreams" "It's your blood that's red like Roses." Ruby is or was haunted by the image of her mother dying. There's some sweet depression for you to chew on.
She was barely old enough to walk when her mom died, so I think it's more like she misses the mother she barely remembers but still idolizes her because of all the stories Yang and Tai told about her.
@@AstralMuffin105 That means nothing -_- the ages of 2-5 are more sensitive to traumatic events so it makes much sense that a little toddler ruby that loved her mom became so depressed when they told her she wouldn’t be coming back
I think you should hear "Red like Roses Part 2" again with the context some of the comments give you here, but its kinda funny to see you be all "Someone is gonna die!" and its like "oh Honey... someone is already dead" XD!
Red Like Roses Part 2 is actually about Ruby venting her emotions towards her dead mother(the grave she visited in the Red Trailer), and her mother responding from beyond the grave telling Ruby not to follow in her footsteps and make the same mistakes she did and how she wishes she hadn't died so she could be there to see Ruby and Yang grow up.
Hey, spoliers. She doesn't need to know WHEN. But slight spoilers below continuing from above's comment.... Also, I always thought it was weird that I May Fall is in vol 1, like shouldn't it be saved for at least 2? Well actually if you look more closely at the lyrics it makes me wonder if it is actually talking about whatever fight will happen at the end of the very last volume of RWBY. There's several references to the "end." Vol 3 is not the end. Not even close. What solidifies it for me is one lyric says "One final stand." Vol 3 was their FIRST stand, not final. So now the placement of this song doesn't bother me because it might be foreshadowing the last vol and thus be a bookend with it.
Brings me to the place you rest is about ruby's mom dying, summer rose. It said on the tombstone in the trailer. " but *BABY* please don't do what I did. "
It’s actually canon that Blake’s favorite book is Ninja’s of Love, it’s a hilarious reference to Kakashi from Naruto and his adult novel you can always see him reading during training sessions.
I didnt know until today that red like roses p2 features Casey Lee's mother who's apparently named Sandy Casey. I already felt connected to RLR2 because I lost my dad when i was young, and now even more so seeing as how my father, mother, and myself, share the same names as Jeff, Sandy, and Casey. An odd coincidence, but one that brings me a small spark of joy. Im sure someone else has mentioned it by now but the song is Ruby and her Mother, Summer, laying out their emotions caused by her early death. Though i can absolutely see why you'd assume Weiss is connected to it somehow because of the white text, that's not the case 👍🏻
I know someone explained the Red Like Roses part 2🥀 reference was to Ruby’s mom, but it was extremely hard for the singers because it was both the normal singer and her mother going back and forth in the duet as the father wrote and played the song for them to sing. It was after the divorce.
Red Like Roses Part 2 is about Ruby and her Mom (the white text is her Mom). From the image Ruby is above her mother’s grave, which we see in the Red trailer and the opening.
In the toombstone there is a name written on it "Summer Rose". Let that sink in. I think you can see it in the trailer. You will see that toombstone later in the series
so my favorite characters are yang and ruby tied for first. but the 1 i connect with the most is weiss. her childhood was mine minus the money. her whole character arc is also basically what i went thru to get where i am.
to be honest, the world of remnant at the start of the series was one you'd WANT to change. primarily by removing a certain bearded gentleman from any kind of leadership position with regards to dust mining.
In ''I may fall' the main word is ''may'', when all that bad things happend, then she may fall, MAY, maybe not, but if that would or maybe not triumph upon her if yet to happend, what make you think that you could defeat her now? ;)
Weiss has been my favorite character out of the four solely due to character development. I always find the hated character from the beginning of the series the most interesting, since they have the *Best* potential for character development.
one of the songs was reputedly written by her(the singers) father, to her. must have been weird to sing. :P ) sorta feels like Wings was Yang singing to Blake. I don't know if the whole set of lyrics fit, but seemed that most did. she would be the most motherly of the bunch, after all, having been Ruby's 'mother' for most of her life. :)
Red Like Roses part 2 is about Ruby's Mother Summer Rose who died before the start of the show if you go back to The Red Trailer you will see Ruby at her Grave just before she got swarmed by Proto Type Grimm Beowolfs
Some of the artwork doesn't seem to correspond to the song. How many of the songs are from FlyntofRWBY? Cause he shows the appropriate artwork. Red like Roses II is about Ruby and her mother. The grave is a dead give a way because if you payed attention to the Red Trailer, you can read "Summer Rose - Thus kindly I scatter" on the stone. And in the opening Ruby sees her mother at the grave.
The Red trailer was a proof of concept trailer he made(pretty much by himself) to get the series green lighted, so the Grimm bleeding roses was just for the trailer. They basically evaporate when they die.. I Burn is still in my top 10 RWBY songs out of all 7 volumes still. And it was absolutely all about Yang. Gold is Yang and Ruby. Poor job by whoever provided the fan art to the lyric video. I recommend using Flynt of RWBY lyric videos through the first 6 volumes at least. I may Fall will be used in a future volume. It was used as an outro...in a chapter in this volume. Don't worry about some of the darker lyrics. This is RWBY...Nothing bad happens.....its all just good fun.... The grave that Ruby is at is her mom's headstone The same headstone she was visiting at the beginning of the Red trailer.Red Like Roses 2 is a duet between Ruby and her deceased mom. Casey's real mother sings Summer Roses parts while Casey sings Ruby's
While I agree on using FlyntofRWBY when possible, he's only got 3 of the V1 songs on his channel: This Will Be The Day, From Shadows, and Red Like Roses Part 2. So doing a V1 playlist means you have to find a lot of lyric videos by others.
peeps who watched the first episode and complained about Weiss' attitude...were peeps who thought her trailer was just some random words. or did not watch the trailers at all. kinda disappointed you failed to notice who had what lines of Blake's. made it quite clear why she left, if you should still have had questions about that. as some reactors inexplicably did... As for Yangs, I feel you forget the fact that, in her case, it is QUITE LITERALLY Power. not something just anyone can do. :) also, Yang's tunes? probably the only ones with censored versions. :D ....who died??? seriously??? go back and watch the show again. :P or, y'know, just...look at the picture. :)(seriously i had to facepalm as you continued to not understand who had died...the first few seconds of the INTRO TO EVERY EPISODE shows Ruby kneeling at a marker.)
Red Like Roses Pt. 2 is a duet between Casey and her mother. It’s about Ruby’s internal feelings regarding the loss of her mother. She was standing over her gravestone in the Red Trailer. Also please, we are imploring you: stop cutting the RWBY episodes reactions - there is no need to do so, I will keep saying this since literally no other reactor does it, we like seeing the full thing and Rooster Teeth will unblock it on their end on YT if you have any issues. 😎

In the toombstone there is a name written on it "Summer Rose". Let that sink in. I think you can see it in the trailer. You will see that toombstone later in the series
Jaune is still my fav character lol
52:10 you're exactly right :)
I love the reveal that "red like roses" refers to blood
so my favorite characters are yang and ruby tied for first. but the 1 i connect with the most is weiss. her childhood was mine minus the money. her whole character arc is also basically what i went thru to get where i am.
to be honest, the world of remnant at the start of the series was one you'd WANT to change. primarily by removing a certain bearded gentleman from any kind of leadership position with regards to dust mining.
Yeah I may fall, you will hear this again in the future reaction.
In ''I may fall' the main word is ''may'', when all that bad things happend, then she may fall, MAY, maybe not, but if that would or maybe not triumph upon her if yet to happend, what make you think that you could defeat her now? ;)
I may fall after volume 9, hm now that is some foreshadowing
Also before you move onto the next volume, be sure to watch the world of remnant episodes. After volume 3 you can watch the chibi show which is great.
Great therapy for happens after
'the place you rest'...or the closest approximation available. (that is a marker, not a headstone)
Weiss has been my favorite character out of the four solely due to character development.
I always find the hated character from the beginning of the series the most interesting, since they have the *Best* potential for character development.
one of the songs was reputedly written by her(the singers) father, to her. must have been weird to sing. :P )
sorta feels like Wings was Yang singing to Blake. I don't know if the whole set of lyrics fit, but seemed that most did. she would be the most motherly of the bunch, after all, having been Ruby's 'mother' for most of her life. :)
Red Like Roses part 2 is about Ruby's Mother Summer Rose who died before the start of the show
if you go back to The Red Trailer you will see Ruby at her Grave just before she got swarmed by Proto Type Grimm Beowolfs
“Legends Scatter”
Everyone is based on legends, Volume 4 anyone?
Some of the artwork doesn't seem to correspond to the song. How many of the songs are from FlyntofRWBY? Cause he shows the appropriate artwork.
Red like Roses II is about Ruby and her mother. The grave is a dead give a way because if you payed attention to the Red Trailer, you can read "Summer Rose - Thus kindly I scatter" on the stone. And in the opening Ruby sees her mother at the grave.
So late to the game. Wings is actually from Yang to Blake if that makes sense.
"I think there's some stuff coming" lol U HAVE NO IDEA. Also, red like roses part 2 is about Ruby and her mom.
Watching this a year late and I’m just like hehe oh no don’t worry someone won’t die... yet
"I'm getting worried for what's going to happen" don't worry, you've still got 2 seasons of happy fun times.
Was it just me or was the I May Fall video she watched pitched weirdly?
The Red trailer was a proof of concept trailer he made(pretty much by himself) to get the series green lighted, so the Grimm bleeding roses was just for the trailer. They basically evaporate when they die..
I Burn is still in my top 10 RWBY songs out of all 7 volumes still. And it was absolutely all about Yang.
Gold is Yang and Ruby. Poor job by whoever provided the fan art to the lyric video. I recommend
using Flynt of RWBY lyric videos through the first 6 volumes at least.
@@mrkraemer77722 my bad. I should have said moving forward.
Red like rose is ruby and summer
Red like roses part 2 is about Ruby losing her mother when she was very little
Daaaaaang, this brings me back to my edgy days lmao
kodie lee
Hm, in regards to pieces moving in the world because of the moon, you're not wrong, but you aren't right, either.
peeps who watched the first episode and complained about Weiss' attitude...were peeps who thought her trailer was just some random words. or did not watch the trailers at all.
kinda disappointed you failed to notice who had what lines of Blake's. made it quite clear why she left, if you should still have had questions about that. as some reactors inexplicably did...
As for Yangs, I feel you forget the fact that, in her case, it is QUITE LITERALLY Power. not something just anyone can do. :)
also, Yang's tunes? probably the only ones with censored versions. :D
....who died??? seriously??? go back and watch the show again. :P or, y'know, just...look at the picture. :)(seriously i had to facepalm as you continued to not understand who had died...the first few seconds of the INTRO TO EVERY EPISODE shows Ruby kneeling at a marker.)
It's lit
Ruby's mom died before the story
Red Like Roses Pt. 2 is a duet between Casey and her mother. It’s about Ruby’s internal feelings regarding the loss of her mother. She was standing over her gravestone in the Red Trailer.
Also please, we are imploring you: stop cutting the RWBY episodes reactions - there is no need to do so, I will keep saying this since literally no other reactor does it, we like seeing the full thing and Rooster Teeth will unblock it on their end on YT if you have any issues. 😎
