Thank you! perfect demonstration, video! I appreciated your input! I’ve been trying to decide between this rack and a couple others over the last few weeks. This video helped me decide and I’m ordering the Equip'd today! Thank you again!
Thank you! My equip-d single just arrived Friday along with a one bike add-on. Very nice to be able to hear someone else’s thoughts before I install and use it.
Excellent review. I have the standard black bike rack and it’s more than enough with regards to putting any bike size on it. The double D is a step up with more features like the unlock handle. Thoughtful review covering topics of quality and concern. 1-Up is USA built and will not rust. Mine is two years old and looks new still. Don’t go through anything but a brushless car wash with it or it will get damaged. No comparison to Thule. Terrific product. You pay a premium but for 1-Up machined aluminum, ease of use, you pay for that if you love cycling and want quality in a carrier. Thanks.
Best review I’ve seen on this rack yet. I love that you can buy the single and add the second tray (that I’ll use way less than the single, but occasionally for trips). Do you have any experience or feedback with their RakAttach 2.0 swing arm system? Wondering how much further out the rack would rest.
Thank you! Unfortunately, I have no experience with the RakAttach swing arm system. I’ve seen a few on the 1Ups at the trailhead with those attached, but nothing more than a a simple glance.
Awesome review awesome truck(I've got one). Lots of good thing pointed out. I ordered one recently and am waiting. Some critique. Record in landscape next time and increase the volume.
Thank you. Yes - I agree with both. I should have re-recorded it when I noticed I was in portrait mode. The wind noise was a struggle. I was able to filter it out post edit, but a lapel mic would have been good.
The depth of the rack in the receiver doesn't determine clearing the tailgate. The hitch in the transport (horizontal) position sits low enough to clear the tailgate. With that said - I have the hitch inserted quite far into the receiver. In the transport (vertical) position, the rack clears the bumper by 1.5-2". It's really close!
Hi Felix. Like all bike trays, when in the up/storage position, you will get a decent amount of camera obstruction. You can 'see through' the bike tray and it's quite manageable, but there is definite obstruction. The OneUp has less obstruction than the Thule just due to the nature of the smaller overall footprint.
Thanks for the video! I’m deciding between the eqip d and the heavy duty doubles. I feel like you get more for your money with the older models. Your thoughts?
There is a comparison chart on the 1Up website that details the spec differences between the different models. www.1up-usa.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/55107_1UP_Product_Flyer_17x11_FNL.pdf I went with the Equip D because it is their latest model, and builds on customer feedback from their other offerings. However, having the opportunity to see the different 1Up models, I can say you won’t be disappointed with whatever you decide to buy.
I have heard of some people having to remove the handle at the trailhead so that it does not get stolen while the rider is away from the car. Have you heard of this or had to do it yourself?
Hi. I heard the same. I live in Maine and crime is something we don’t really encounter. Removing the handle requires removing the red safety pin and then the adjacent attachment pin. It would take less than 2 minutes to remove and reinstall the handle. If you were really concerned about it, my guess is with a little ingenuity, you can buy a longer attachment pin and affix a lock to it.

One of the best reviews I've seen. too bad the video quality isn't better.
A very thorough and informative review; well done sir!
Thanks Chris! It's been one year later and I still love this bike tray!
this review is like the best ever :)

Great review i had to bump up the volume but whell worth it..whell explained and thank you!
Hi Jorge. Thank you. I need a lapel mic to address the wind noise and volume. Landscape mode wouldn’t hurt either!
Thank you for this detailed video. Helps make my choice that much easier.
That’s great - thanks for letting me know. You can’t go wrong with the 1Up.
What if you lose the "special" tool to secure it to the hitch?
Excellent review! Thank you.
Very thorough review. Thank you so much.
You are welcome! I have been planning to redo the video - same content but better audio/video. The 1Up rack is really a treasure!
@@ruknight4ever Great. I just ordered mine.
Also that security is wonky. Cant you just unlatch the wheels and just take the frame?
really great video review.

How far did you have the rack slid into the receiver to clear the tailgate ? I have a 3rd gen Tacoma as well

Can you tell me how much if any back up camera obstruction you get with the 1up?

Uhh…sound quality??
I'm sure the rack sounds just as good, if not better, than all other racks.
