If she saw that your plate wasn’t expired why else would she run it thru the system? Because she’s lying (and badly at that) and wanted to hem you up for anything she could find on you by running your plate anyway! That’s been ruled as standard police procedure and is allowed. Although it shouldn’t be since it’s a form of 4th amendment seizure of your information. The cops in my podunk town do it many times a day. It’s estimated that 70% of drivers are illegal in some way. They catch a lot if people with suspended licenses and registrations.

On a jury, because you were able to tell well in advance that they would pull you over for expired plates and because they told you to attempt to fix the state system by going to actively force the state to comply and because they refused to look altho e sticker which has a registration tuber directly related to your vehicle, and because they used three cops to follow you and set you up to be pulled over and because the FOURTH cop was flippant I would award $50,000 plus all costs, 10K per officer involved and 10K for the sticker..
